Oct 19, 2013I want to make an album cover, the file is 3008x2000. What is the best way to get it in the right dimensions for a CD wallet cover? Do I first edit everything, adding title etc. and then scale and crop it? Or crop and scale it first?
If you look at the picture in the background you see light coming through the back wall, it might be nicer if at least the large light bulbs will be removed and covered by color, any recommendations how to do that?

Lightroom :: Create A Web Album?
May 30, 2012I'm using LR3 for a couple of weeks and I'm facing problems to create successfully a new webalbum. After Keying in the ftp-server details LR3 is unable to upload the pic's to the server. I've tried to upload the pics via Filezilla which works perfectly fine, means no problem with my provider or data connection or even with my iMac.

Jul 26, 2006I do a lot of photography and like to create pages in Photoshop to be used with companies who create albums such as SharedINK and AsukaBook.
There are a few nice software options out there such as Yervants Page Gallery, You Select It, Fotofusion, Pixel Creator Pro, etc. that help in designing album layouts. There are also some sites catering to Photoshop actions that create pages based on templates as well.
I'm seeking advice about the best way to create my own templates in Photoshop. Currently I am thinking of the following way.
1. Create my page template with guides and proper dimensions for the book company I plan to use. So I would create a 10x10 inch page and set guidelines for dpi/bleed/trimming for example.
2. I then would create clipping layers for each image and then arrange them all on a copy of the canvas background.
3. I would also add some line art, colored boxes, and perhaps adjust the opacity on some of the images.
Finally, I would save the file into a PSD format.
My thinking is that I could re-use the file again and simply replace the images in the clipping masks.
A few other ideas for creating a template in Photoshop might be to experiment with Smart Objects or Cutout Masks.
I have an interest in supplying a few of these templates to friends and associates who design wedding albums, family albums, or simply to showcase their photography and artwork.
I'm curious what others think about the best way to create a template in photoshop that could be used in a Wedding Photo Book for example "without" having to purchasing hundreds of dollars worth of 3rd party template software. In fact, I've actually heard that Yervant's Page Gallery and You Select It will export to PSD, but they will not create a very good template in Photoshop. There are limitations I've heard, thus designing in Photoshop from the beginning seems the best way. Plus the sky's the limit with creating your own designs.
Finally, I should mention that there is nothing wrong with having a 3rd Party template workflow. I in fact just purchased a copy of Fotofusion and it's fabulous for creating fast photo collages and then mixing them up again to gain a fast view of alternate layouts.
This is a relatively new area I think for most Photoshop users, but with the advent of Digital Photography and the reduction in price for published styled albums, I think more and more people will be interesting in creating their own templates. Not to mention creating templates above and beyond the basics which I'm seeing a lot lately. You wouldn't believe how basic some of the Photoshop pages are floating around and how much people are charging for them. They're simple to make in Photoshop and thus the desire to create my own templates.

Jan 5, 2014I would edit some light work on my images and then export it into a folder. It would look fine and have all the features that I edited. Whenever I upload it to other places, it wouldn't take the edits I made and it shows up as the orginal image or maybe a darkened version of it (I'm not sure). The only place that actually takes my edited images as edited, is 500px. For facebook, there were times when I uploaded and it didn't take my edits, but when I exported the image again to a higher resolution of Jpeg, facebook would take the edits.
I wanted to print some photos so I uploaded them to costco or shutterfly, but the images are not the way I edited in Lightroom.

Oct 11, 2013I like using the Flickr uploader through Lightroom (I have 4) to keep my Flickr images up to date. I have taken to adding a copyright to my images, but have become involved in a project that requires a different copyright for select images. Is it possible to use the uploader service to add one copyright to some images while adding a different one to other images? Or do I have to export images and then manually upload them to Flickr? I would rather not do that, if possible, just because I wouldn't have the added benefit of being able to have image metadata and edits automatically update in Flickr as I do them in Lightroom.

Lightroom :: 3.6 - Flickr Upload Overwrites / Renames Previously Uploaded Photos
Jul 1, 2012How do I stop LR3.6 from overwriting previously uploaded photos?
For instance, 3 days ago I uploaded a bunch of photos with their original filenames intact.. ie DSF1000 etc.
In Flickr I changed the filename to something more meaningful.
Yesterday, in LR, I selected 2 photos from the same batch of previously uploaded photos after modifying in Lightroom.
LR reuploaded all the same photos again..with the original file names (which I'd changed in Flickr) which meant Flickr comments and the view count was reset to 0.

Jan 15, 2014I know that Facebook reduces the resolution for Facebook cover page and profile picture. However, I have noticed that there are many Pages that uploaded beautiful Cover photo without any reduced resolution (apparently).
For example: URL....can also check out these pages, they have pretty awesome looking Timeline photos!
I've tried using the "magic" size format of 850 x 350 , but it seems that the quality will still be reduced no matter what. The above pages' photos are always pretty clear and not blur like normal pages.

Feb 13, 2014I am trying to create the artwork for stickers to cover the front and side of a freezer. I have created the front panel which consists of a block of colour along the top and bottom (with logo in top panel) and then an illlustration in the middle. Now, I want the blocks of colour and illustration to carry on seamlessly to either side to cover the 2 side panels (which are the same height but different width from the central one). Should I create in 3 separate documents and how do I make sure that I follow the illustration at exactly the point where it finishes at either side of the central panel? I haven't been using InDesign very long and I cant work it out.

Dec 28, 2012I recently purchased PSE 11 to replace PSE 10. When I entered the Organizer, everything worked well until I tried to create a new category under a category that had already been created. After several attempts (and crashes) I rebooted the computer and succeeded in creating the new category. When I then attempted repeatedly to create a new album within the new category, the Organizer again crashed several times. I suspect that rebooting the computer will fix the immediate problem, but this should not occur in the first place and is unacceptable as an ongoing problem.
