View 7 Replies View RelatedI accidentally included a file rename when I just imported a batch of several hundred pictures. I violated a rule that I teach my own Lightroom students, and that is to look carefully at the import panel choices before proceeding.
Â
How can I correct this so that the files are named as they originally were? I know how to easily fix the filenames in Windows (using a tool called BulkRename, for example), but then I'd have to "find" each image one-by-one and correctly point to the renamed version. I tried selecting all the images and then using F2 to rename, but none of the templates allow deleting a portion of the filename.
Â
P.S. Here is an example of what I mean:
Â
ON CARD:
IMG_0001.NEF
...
IMG_0300.NEF
Â
WHAT I RENAMED TO ACCIDENTALLY:
IMG_0001 {shot by John Doe}.NEF
...
IMG_0300 {shot by John Doe}.NEF
I have 600+ files with names like: "ad------2~s800x800.jpg" but the photoshop batch process mode is having issues with the filename and outputs it as just "-"

View 1 Replies View Relatedi'm currently working on a new website with a friend, we are using Dropout to share the files, he's the coder, and i design. Im using a pc at the moment, and he's on a Mac, when i save my files, they are saved with capital letters, and to upload it in dreamweaver on a Mac they cant have capital letters. So my question is, is it possible to change the file name to .jpg instead of .JPG? And how do i do it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedStarting brand new project. Would like to change the name of some shared parameters within my txt file. As far as I know you cant chnage the name once its established witin Revit (unless theres a third party app). Would there be any issue withi this? Utimately I am pushing these parameters into new geometry and I would like them to better conform to a standard for a particular customer. I rennamed JUST the parameter name and it seemed to work ok.Â
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just installed Photoshop Elements 11 for MAC and the option to change file names is grayed out. ( I am able to change the folder names.). In previous versions of PSE that I had on my PC I was always able to change the photo/file names to the shot dates. How can I accomplish this in PSE 11 for MAC?
View 5 Replies View RelatedUsing the publish feature, I published some files to a hard drive using a publish service. Some of the files I had renamed from the default camera name convention to my own name convention. Others I had not changed the name from the default. After working on the original files, I renamed the files that had not been renamed, and then I republished them. I was expecting the republished files to have their new name, but they did not - they had the old names. I've tried republishing several times. I deleted the republished version of the file and then republished and it still came back with the old file name.
Â
What in blue blazes is going on here? How can I get the names of the published files to match the names of the files in Lightroom?
Is it possible in Lightroom to automatically append/prepend directory names in the file path into the file name itself? Example:
Â
DirectoryA Sub-directoryB filename.jpg (original file name)
Â
==>Â
Â
DirectoryA Sub-directoryB DirectoryA_Sub-directoryB_filename.jpg (concatenated new file name)
Â
If this is not natively possible within Lightroom, any plug-in that delivers this functionality?
When editing some images in LR4 the sliders in Basic are:
   Â
    Exposure
    Recovery
    Fill Light
    BlacksÂ
    Brightness
    Contrast
Â
With other images the sliders are:
Â
    Exposure
    Contrast
     Highlights
    Shadows
    Whites
    Blacks
Â
how to I set the app to use the second set of sliders?
Example: New card, 100 photos taken, imported w/ name changes to LR catalog, all is well. Then, another 100 photos taken, and when import attempted, the prog "sees" 200 photos as new, not the actual 100 new photos on the card. Yes, the bottom is checked to avoid duplicates.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have upgraded from LR4 to LR5. LR4 allowed duplictes to be imported - one a jepg the other same file name but raw (CR2). LR5 does not allow me to do this. Am I mistaken or am I over looking something?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been using Lightroom since V. 1. I have noticed that many of my file names have been renamed in LR (now V5.3) by changing the filename from "XXX_yyyy.NEF" to "XXX_yyyy-2.NEF". IF I look in the folder where the images are stored, both versions of the file are there. I went into LR and deleted the "-2" version and re-imported the original files. In some cases this worked and the LR file now has the original name. In some other cases, LR re-named on import and appended the "-2" to the file name. I checked and it turned out there were other files with the same name on the disk and in the LR catalogue, so I understand why these files were renamed. In other cases, however, there is no other file in LR with the same name. Yet, when I try to delete the "-2" file in LR and re-import the original file (as I did earlier), LR again renames my file by appending the "-2" suffix to the file name. It does not copy the file, it actually renames the file in the folder where it is stored. I cannot understand why the file name is being changed in this case.
Â
why LR is doing this and how can I prevent it?I am running LR under 64-bit Win 7 with 12 GB RAM, the problem seems to have occurred primarily with Nikon D200 RAW (.NEF) files.
For example, let's say I have a file on a hard drive labeled 2012. Inside that file there are three folders with photos and they are labeled Phoenix, Seattle, Portland. Is there a way to Import these folders at one time and keep the names, or will they all come into Lightroom only as 2012?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a hard drive published service configured in Publishing Manager that creates JPGs of any images that are placed into that published service. For the most part all the settings I specify on that service are adhered to when I "publish now". However one setting appears to be ignored and that is File Naming | Rename To:.Â
Â
In the configuration of that option in Publishing Manager I have the rename to option set to "Filename - Sequence". When this option is set the example text it states at the bottom of file naming displays what I expect it be on output. However, when I "publish now" the file exports but with the original file name of the photo.  Let me explain further. Typically when I've fully processed the photo I use the Lightroom file rename option to rename the file from the orginal import name to something more descriptive.
Â
This seems to work fine with both the information in LR and the actual file name being correctly displayed. Even when I select the file for publishing the example file name show matches the new name after rename. However, the actual file generated always as the original imported file name. This happens for all files.
Â
I'm using LR 5.2 on Windows 8.1.Â
Can the pictures file name be printed directly on to each image so that a preview book could be printed by Blurb with each photograph numbered.I can do this in slideshow but when I export the files for printing the numbers are gone.Several of my friend in the profession would also like the ability to apply the file names in this way.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have created an extensive action that runs on one psd. It turns on and off layers and fills them with different colors. The batch wants to name each iteration of the script the same name. Is there any way to save with incremental names. I know the batch dialog has this option, but I think it only works when the batch is based on many different files.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo when I batch plot I get the name of the drawing file followed by a dash then the tab name. For instance the drawing file is: MSA-01 Plans.dwg and the tab is W-101, when I batch plot I get [MSA-01 Plans - W-101.pdf].
We never had duplicated sheets so I was curious to save the time of me cleaning up the file names everytime, if I could batchplot with just the tab name.
I am having issues with the Batch File changing a attribute definition. I do not want to go in to the 500 or so dwgs just to change the one attribute definition i can code to replace.
; ATTRIBUTE FIND AND REPLACE
-ATTEDIT
N
N
TTLBLK
DEPT#
*
CCCC
4682
Zoom
Extents
QUIT
The code format works for every one of my att in the title block except the DEPT#. I think it is because it is the only att with the # sign as an end character in the Att definition. I can not change the attribute name bc it is my customers title block. I am working on 2013 LT and would prefer a fix for LT but can get access to mechanical 13.
we have a folder full of blocks with text style romans, and our new standard text is Arial - any routine where we can 'batch' change a group of cad drawings (blocks) - changing the text to Aerial and the width factor of the text to 0.9?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI imported more 2,000 pictures. Then I did one batch change (adjusting the curve (tonality) by Lightroom).
Â
But it looks like, only on the page, I actually see, the previews are updated.
Â
If go to the next page of 24 pictures. At first I see the old preview. Then the CPU and hard drive activity is increasing and picture by picture the preview is updated. So I've to wait 15 seconds, until I can decide, if the settings of the pictures are a good start or not. And then I've to page again and wait 15 seconds
Â
I expect, that Lightroom does it: in backgroundin parallel and not only one picture by picture (15 seconds are cause by sequencially processing; I've an Intel i7 with 4 cores and 3.6 GHz, it's not the slowest machine, but Lightroom only use up to 25% of my whole CPU resources. how I should be able to handle a mass of pictures, if I have to page and wait always.
 Â
Is there any magic shurtcut, command, setting, to enforce such an auto update?
How do I rename photos on import without loosing the previous file names and captions?
View 3 Replies View Relatedthe batch conversion tool can't handle long file names as generated by the Windows Live Photo Gallery import tool. I was shocked (dismayed?) to see that my brand new X5 doesn't import DV as nicely as this free MS tool (as an aside). Here is an example filename: "Tape05 2001-01-02 14.05.33.avi". It stumbles on the first '.' it finds. Luckily it does not overwrite files that end up having the same name because of this truncation but still. Come on now. Path manipulation is junior engineer programming 101.
The batch convert also does not remember the target directory last used. At least default it to the source directory, right?Unlikely to be fixed, I know, but maybe it'll go on the list for X6.
I would like to resize and watermark all of the image in a particular file. I understand that I can do this with Lightroom, but I do now know how.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I choose a DVD-menu the default chapter names are "chapter01" to chapter99" where 99 is the last chapter number. I do use the German language version. The it is "Kapitel01" to "Kapitel99".
I do not want to have the word "Kapitel" in each line of the menu. I only want to have the chapter number. "01" to "99". Not the short numbers which count from 1 again on each page of the menu.
Is it possible to change the text "Kapitel" to blank or to delet the text to get only the chapter numbers als default chapter names? Can I configure it manual in any configuration file. I think that the word "Kapitel" comes from a German language file? Can I change it to blank there?
Is this possible if i can change the column names, not a cell. For instance: Name of the column is "Full Description" to become something else? Or add a new column with my own description?
