VideoStudio :: X5 / Batch Convert Can't Deal With Long Path Names
Oct 5, 2012
the batch conversion tool can't handle long file names as generated by the Windows Live Photo Gallery import tool. I was shocked (dismayed?) to see that my brand new X5 doesn't import DV as nicely as this free MS tool (as an aside). Here is an example filename: "Tape05 2001-01-02 14.05.33.avi". It stumbles on the first '.' it finds. Luckily it does not overwrite files that end up having the same name because of this truncation but still. Come on now. Path manipulation is junior engineer programming 101.
The batch convert also does not remember the target directory last used. At least default it to the source directory, right?Unlikely to be fixed, I know, but maybe it'll go on the list for X6.
I am using VS Pro X2. There is a problem with batch conversion. When I export the videos individually using "share", I get a good quality output, but when I export the same video using "batch convert", the quality degrades, for example the title gets blurry. I am using the exact same output setting in both situations:
I recently tried to convert a 76 minute movie in mpeg 4 to mpeg 2 using the batch convert function. I first went into options and set the bit rate to 6100 kbps and the audio to Dolby 2 ch. stereo, with the bit rate set to constant. After the conversion had taken place, I found the results were excellent, except that only 38 minutes were converted. I tried it again, but still only 38 minutes and then it it finishes. Why won't it convert the full 76 minutes? The destination folder is on my "D" drive which is 1 TB, so there is lots of room.
My question is, does Videostudio X5 have the capabilities to either:
A) Batch convert while using one or more of the FX B) Export multiple clips in one go from the timeline?
I have 120+ short video clips that I need to crop to a different size. I've figured out how to crop them to the size I need by using the "Croping" function in the FX. There seems to be no way however to apply this to all the clips at once in the Batch Convert.
The only way I can do it is to import all of the individual clips to the timeline and then export them individually...one at a time....taking a lot of my time. I notice they all retain their same file names in the timeline. Isn't there a way I can select all of them at once and export them with their individual file names all in one go (with any FX I've added)?
I edit an mp4 video and produce a new mp4 video. If I produce the new mp4 while I open the project, the screen size is normal. (c_not_use_batch.jpg) If I produce the new file using batch convert, the screen size is reduced (c_use_batch.jpg) However, the setting for producing the files are the same (c_setting.jpg)
The files and settings are the same. The only difference is using batch convert or not.
I have created an extensive action that runs on one psd. It turns on and off layers and fills them with different colors. The batch wants to name each iteration of the script the same name. Is there any way to save with incremental names. I know the batch dialog has this option, but I think it only works when the batch is based on many different files.
So when I batch plot I get the name of the drawing file followed by a dash then the tab name. For instance the drawing file is: MSA-01 Plans.dwg and the tab is W-101, when I batch plot I get [MSA-01 Plans - W-101.pdf].
We never had duplicated sheets so I was curious to save the time of me cleaning up the file names everytime, if I could batchplot with just the tab name.
I was tried to convert a point from UTM-39N to Lat/Long using geodetic calculator; but when I checked the converted coordinates by another applications (like GeoLab); they were a little different (about two seconds) & I'm sure GeoLab is right.
I have 600+ files with names like: "ad------2~s800x800.jpg" but the photoshop batch process mode is having issues with the filename and outputs it as just "-"
I've tried every permutation of copy and paste; I renamed the path to path. It looks like a path when I add stroke, but it does not behave like one. I can't cut it or join it to any other path. It remembers it's text path status. I'm running OS X 10.7.5.
I accidentally converted a path to a text path. I searched the forum for how to convert it back to a regular path. The answer I found said to select the path and hit Command+C+F. This gives me another text path! I now have at least 6 copies of the path in my files but they are ALL text paths and none are visible with a stroke.
On any given layer of the artwork I can add objects, such as circles or rectangles. Initially these show up in the layer named as <Path>, but by double clicking <Path> that name can be changed to anything the user desires.  Is it possible, with any of the SDK utilities, to detect the name that the user has given to that path?
I am trying to hatch a long curved path that is composed of polylines and splines that I manually joined together by pedit. When I try to hatch it, I get an error message that says the area is not closed and thus cannot be hatched, but I have no clue where the problem area is. Is there a way to figure out what parts aren't lining up/closed correctly? When I select the object, it shows that all the lines are connected, so I don't really know how to fix this.
I'm trying about 8 hours to convert a Photoshop shape in to a working path in order to put a brush border around it. I don't understand why the "stroke path with brush" is grayed out and not usable directly on the shape path itself. Â "Load path from selection" is not an option because it deforms my path.
I don't know if it was like that before, but since X4 I have a minor problem when I start to render a video: The longer the project is, starting from 5 mins, the longer it takes for the rendering menu to appear. I have uploaded a video on YouTube to make clear what I mean.
We are relative newbies to VideoStudio 4 but we're able to make some simple movies. Now we have been instructed to create a video that has a single red line that begins in the upper left corner, and continues to extend, to the right, towards the right side corner as the video progresses.
How to accomplish such a thing. We have the basic VS4 package, which comes with Boris Graffitt plug in, thats very complicated to us..
Tonight I created my first DVD disk (ie authored a DVD) using X4 which I purchased last year.It seemed to take a much longer time to complete especially the creation of the title (menu?) than what I am used to using VS10.
Is this normal?
Is this a known 'problem' with X4?
What are others using to author a DVD?
Should I use VS10 to 'create disk'?
BTW I authored using the same characteristics as I used when I created my DVD file (create video file) so I don't think that it re-rendered.Also I am creating a 'standard definition' DVD not high def.
Is it normal for VSX4 to take a long time to save a project? I am finding that it is taking about 20 minutes for X4 to save my project each time, which has a running time of about 45 minutes. This is an excessive amount of time wasted in waiting for it to do its thing, as I can't proceed with anything else while it is saving.
Trying to edit an 8 to 10 second fade from black to a clip.
The closest I can get is this: Black color, Crossfade Transition, Video Clip This would work, but transitions are limited to 3 seconds.
Also, is there a way to freeze a video for a defined amount of time? I know inserting a capture of the last frame as a still image would work, but seems like a bit of extra work.
when producing quiet long films (e.g. 2 hours), is it better to split it into e.g 3 individual projects, or is it better to work on it as one? This, because I want to avoid the loss of data or already produced sequences, if one project is getting to big.
I’m trying to open an image shot in RAW (Canon 10D) in PSCS and the screen, with my image, is larger than my monitor screen, so I have to move it around by grabbing the blue bar at the top and even then the adjustment controls on the right side of the screen are cut off. I’ve tried changing the screen resolution, which helps reduce the screen size but the adjustment controls are still cut off about half way. This is the first time I’ve tried RAW in PSCS (been shooting JPEG). I’m using Windows XP Pro if that has anything to do with anything.
I'm trying to produce a 5 minute sports highlight video. It will be a mix of clips shot on my HDC-SD10 camcorder and clips pulled from a 1.5 hour game video on DVD. I am running Corel VideoStudio Pro X4.
Immediate challenge is importing clips from the game video on DVD. I don't want to download the entire game from the DVD just to pull 5 five-second clips. Unfortunately, entire game is one "chapter" on the DVD, so I can't just import a particular chapter. I've looked through the Corel manual, but can't find anything. How can I pull short clips from one long file?
I'm new to video editing and also VS X4, but have been able to create a movie from Canon HFM 301 camera using imported clips (AVHCD). The total movie length is 1:25. When I go to burn disc, it informs me it is too long and canot fit on a single disc (4.7 GB) but there seems to be no alternatives available, for example, how to compress, etc. Do I have to manually create a second movie for a second disc? Are there settings or another step I need to take?
I've spent ages designing only to notice on my crt the colours are different and when printed the colours are watered down and doesn't match. So I have no idea how the client will see the design.
I know this is a well-known issue but how best can I get around it?
I just noticed that my other monitor was viewing the image 'messed up' because it wasn't 'actual size' within the picture viewer. All looks fine now, but when printed the colours are still different, so my question now is:
How can I make my photoshop psd print out in the same colours as what I see on screen? (or as close to?)
What is the best format in which to save completed videos? Often when I go back to an old video, I get the "some files did not link properly" message. How can I prevent this?
AE CS5 is saying a file path is too long when I do a collect file. The image sequence in question is only 7 directories deep -- which doesn't seem too buried considering how AE wants to structure collected files: /Volumes/HardDrive/ProjectName/CollectFileFolder/(Footage)/CompName/Pr ecompName/results/3Dimage_multipass0000.tif  Is it number of directories deep or overall number of characters in the entire path that's the issue?
I recently downloaded the trial version of VSP X5. And now, I have a new 12 MP camera as opposed to the 5 MP I had before. Anyway this new camera shoots in video mode at 1920, 1280 and 640. When I use 1920 or 1280 (HD), the file size of the videos are huge, so when I import them to VSP, they take a very long time to import. Is this normal when you want high res videos or is there something I can do to cut down on the file size. To test it out, I shot 20 second videos at all three resolutions. In 1920, the file size was almost a whole gig at only 20 seconds. It would be much larger than that for lets say a 20 minute movie. I'm guessing that would take all day to import.
Correction: Actually, It's taking long to "Create a Video File", not to import the video. Anyway, is it normal for the program to take so long to create a file? if it's a 15 or 20 minute video, it will probaly take at least a couple of hours to create at that resolution.
I have about 2300 .eps files that I need to convert to .jpg so they can be used in an online store.
All of the eps files need to be resized to a maximum of 700px wide, coverted to an rgb colorspace, and 72dpi and then saved as a .jpg file
I have been trying to use the actions pallet to record the actions and then run a batch action but to no avail. I have adobe PS CS4. Â Below are screenshots of what i have tried to setup. (After this I have about the same amount of .TIFF files that also need converted.)
