I have created an extensive action that runs on one psd. It turns on and off layers and fills them with different colors. The batch wants to name each iteration of the script the same name. Is there any way to save with incremental names. I know the batch dialog has this option, but I think it only works when the batch is based on many different files.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo when I batch plot I get the name of the drawing file followed by a dash then the tab name. For instance the drawing file is: MSA-01 Plans.dwg and the tab is W-101, when I batch plot I get [MSA-01 Plans - W-101.pdf].
We never had duplicated sheets so I was curious to save the time of me cleaning up the file names everytime, if I could batchplot with just the tab name.
How can I batch change all my file names?

View 7 Replies View Relatedthe batch conversion tool can't handle long file names as generated by the Windows Live Photo Gallery import tool. I was shocked (dismayed?) to see that my brand new X5 doesn't import DV as nicely as this free MS tool (as an aside). Here is an example filename: "Tape05 2001-01-02 14.05.33.avi". It stumbles on the first '.' it finds. Luckily it does not overwrite files that end up having the same name because of this truncation but still. Come on now. Path manipulation is junior engineer programming 101.
The batch convert also does not remember the target directory last used. At least default it to the source directory, right?Unlikely to be fixed, I know, but maybe it'll go on the list for X6.
I've done the full backup to an external drive. When attempting to do the incremental backup I follow the prompt to select the destication and do the browse to locate the previous backup folder.

I double click on it expecting it to be loaded into the incremental backup prompt but instead it goes into a busy state and then give me a "Elements 10 Organizer Fails to Respond" message.
I have got a problem with the backup-function. After making a (time-consuming) full back-up, I'd like to make a incremental backup. The first steps are the same. At a certain moment, i get the opportunity to choose the incremental one. Therefore i locate the .tly file. When i want to proceed, PSE11 freezes.

I performaned a backup on 12/6/2013, The backup folder name is "13-1206 PE 11 Backup". It is located on an external 1TB drive.

Today I added a number of files to the catalog. Now I am trying to do an incremental backup.

My 1st step is to ogen the organizer and choose File > Backup

2nd is to select Continue to not search for disconnected files, (these have been deleted)

3rd is to chose incremental and click [NEXT], the calculating total media window runs

4th In the Destination settings Window I enter 13-1206 PE in the Name box (this is the character limit)

5th In the Backup Path I browse to G:13-1206 PE 11 Backup

6th in Previous Bachup file box I browse to G:13-1206 PE 11 Backup and open Backup.tly

I get a message that says "You may not specify the location of the previous backup as the new backup location
I'm in the process of creating 3D points (as an overlay) on some laser scanned data (using RiScan, it's just 3d dimensional data, with a northing, easting and RL) and unfortunately the only export option is to export to .dxf... Which is fine but when I export, the information has the point ID as the layer name.
I am aiming at getting this data into another program to analyse and it needs the point ID or name to be my annotation, as opposed to the layer.
So what I need is a way of converting the names of each individual points layer, to the point ID.
I have windows 7 and photo shop 10. I was wondering if when I do a back up in increments to I make a new destination folder every time?
I also wonder, is it suppose to take so long?

This block shows the tick marks as well as a the value in a dynamic input box. How can I have the value displayed in my custom dynamic block. All I have is the "tick" marks.
In other applications, you hold down shift (quite often) as you move a slider and it jumps in larger increments. How is that done in Smoke 2013. For instance I want to move the scale value in larger increments.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to set up a dimension that starts at a minimum value and increases incrementally by 1/16" of an inch to satisfy another dimension. I've attached a pdf showing the part and the two dimensions. I need the overall thickness of the part to start at 1 1/4" as shown and as the width (Depth + 1 1/2") changes, the thickness will grow when the tongue of the part gets less than 5/8". I'm guessing this is an area best suited to ILogic, but I'm not sure how to get started.Â

View 12 Replies View RelatedI accidentally included a file rename when I just imported a batch of several hundred pictures. I violated a rule that I teach my own Lightroom students, and that is to look carefully at the import panel choices before proceeding.

How can I correct this so that the files are named as they originally were? I know how to easily fix the filenames in Windows (using a tool called BulkRename, for example), but then I'd have to "find" each image one-by-one and correctly point to the renamed version. I tried selecting all the images and then using F2 to rename, but none of the templates allow deleting a portion of the filename.

For this I have to select each alignment, its respective profile & generate the report for it. As am having more than 200 Alignments I will have to repeat the process 200 times. Is there any way to make the process easier like generating report for all the alignments at once?
So I have an action that I've been using for the past couple years (?) now that involves opening an image, applying an auto color and auto levels, saving and closing. This has been working for me since probably a couple years ago when I made the action. Yesterday, I was working on a scanning project where I have groups of images in separate folders. I ran the action on the first 2 folders which went fine.
When I got to the 3rd folder all the way up to the last one, PS just loads all the images, does the levels and color then fails to save/close them when done. On one of my folders, it gets through a few of them when it drops the ball and just opens all of them. I'm not sure what's going on as there's no real explanation as to why this is happening.. especially when I've been using this action (and I even made a new action with still no luck). Last week I had about 300 images I had to work with and PS decided to pull this move on me after doing the first 30 of them fine...which is when I first noticed this happening.

To further add, I set my action to show everything step by step and it seems to happen with select images (in some cases, these select images are entirely what is in the folder). With the select images, it is not doing the actions entirely in order. Typically it does it in this manner:
1-Levels
2-Levels
3-Save
4-Close

What I'm now experiencing is this:

1-Levels
(Skips 3 and 4 since it is starting at 2 and working upward).
I can no longer change the name of raw files when saving as JPEG. Software will convert to JPEG but only with the same file name. Previously saved files work fine.

Im using a pc at the moment, and he's on a Mac, when i save my files, they are saved with capital letters, and to upload it in dreamweaver on a Mac they cant have capital letters. The slide show software does not offer the ability to place the image number anywhere on the image. Is there someway to write an action in Photoshop that will grab the image name and place it where I designate on the image? Even stretching the canvas and filling with black and placing the name there would work. I'm not sure if this is possible or if I need to find an Apple Script to do this.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to customize the names of Places as I assign them. For instance, I know that this set of pictures was take at the House on the Rock in Wisconsin. Under the "Places" tab, it's listed as 5754 State Road 23 in Spring Green Wisconsin. I'll never remember that this is the ADDDRESS for the House on the Rock, so I want to change the listing to something that will make sense to me as I use the column search function (something logical like: "House on the Rock, Spring Green, Wisconsin")

Is it possible to edit the Place tags?
First off, I don't mind the save as a copy feature. If I have a psd file with layers and smart objects and such, and I Save As > JPG, I don't want the jpg open, I want the psd open. I like how PS does that behavior, but I don't like how that jpg gets " copy" added to it's file name. Yes it's easy to remove, but I'm using a batch action on over 300 pictures, I don't feel like renaming 300 jpg's. Yes it's supposed to be a safety net, but I basically never work from jpg's as original's, and if for some reason I do, I set them as read only and copy the files off to a safe location, so I don't need it.

I know it's possible because my old school's computers with Photoshop CS5 never saved jpg's with copy in the file name. So, how do I stop PS CS5 from adding copy to my file names? Because I need Photoshop to not add copy to my file names on my work computer.
I have been trying to upload some jpeg pics (saved for web) created in Photoshop 7.0. Every time I try to upload to a particular site, I get the message that there is an error, file name must not contain spaces. Now, I upload to other sites (E-Bay, etc) with no problem. I am using an I-Mac, which may well be the problem, but, then, other people use the same computer and have no problem.
I have tried saving the files using Graphic Converter, but no change.
