View 6 Replies View RelatedI accidentally included a file rename when I just imported a batch of several hundred pictures. I violated a rule that I teach my own Lightroom students, and that is to look carefully at the import panel choices before proceeding.
Â
How can I correct this so that the files are named as they originally were? I know how to easily fix the filenames in Windows (using a tool called BulkRename, for example), but then I'd have to "find" each image one-by-one and correctly point to the renamed version. I tried selecting all the images and then using F2 to rename, but none of the templates allow deleting a portion of the filename.
Â
P.S. Here is an example of what I mean:
Â
ON CARD:
IMG_0001.NEF
...
IMG_0300.NEF
Â
WHAT I RENAMED TO ACCIDENTALLY:
IMG_0001 {shot by John Doe}.NEF
...
IMG_0300 {shot by John Doe}.NEF
I have 600+ files with names like: "ad------2~s800x800.jpg" but the photoshop batch process mode is having issues with the filename and outputs it as just "-"
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs it possible in Lightroom to automatically append/prepend directory names in the file path into the file name itself? Example:
Â
DirectoryA Sub-directoryB filename.jpg (original file name)
Â
==>Â
Â
DirectoryA Sub-directoryB DirectoryA_Sub-directoryB_filename.jpg (concatenated new file name)
Â
If this is not natively possible within Lightroom, any plug-in that delivers this functionality?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have upgraded from LR4 to LR5. LR4 allowed duplictes to be imported - one a jepg the other same file name but raw (CR2). LR5 does not allow me to do this. Am I mistaken or am I over looking something?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been using Lightroom since V. 1. I have noticed that many of my file names have been renamed in LR (now V5.3) by changing the filename from "XXX_yyyy.NEF" to "XXX_yyyy-2.NEF". IF I look in the folder where the images are stored, both versions of the file are there. I went into LR and deleted the "-2" version and re-imported the original files. In some cases this worked and the LR file now has the original name. In some other cases, LR re-named on import and appended the "-2" to the file name. I checked and it turned out there were other files with the same name on the disk and in the LR catalogue, so I understand why these files were renamed. In other cases, however, there is no other file in LR with the same name. Yet, when I try to delete the "-2" file in LR and re-import the original file (as I did earlier), LR again renames my file by appending the "-2" suffix to the file name. It does not copy the file, it actually renames the file in the folder where it is stored. I cannot understand why the file name is being changed in this case.
Â
why LR is doing this and how can I prevent it?I am running LR under 64-bit Win 7 with 12 GB RAM, the problem seems to have occurred primarily with Nikon D200 RAW (.NEF) files.
For example, let's say I have a file on a hard drive labeled 2012. Inside that file there are three folders with photos and they are labeled Phoenix, Seattle, Portland. Is there a way to Import these folders at one time and keep the names, or will they all come into Lightroom only as 2012?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a hard drive published service configured in Publishing Manager that creates JPGs of any images that are placed into that published service. For the most part all the settings I specify on that service are adhered to when I "publish now". However one setting appears to be ignored and that is File Naming | Rename To:.Â
Â
In the configuration of that option in Publishing Manager I have the rename to option set to "Filename - Sequence". When this option is set the example text it states at the bottom of file naming displays what I expect it be on output. However, when I "publish now" the file exports but with the original file name of the photo.  Let me explain further. Typically when I've fully processed the photo I use the Lightroom file rename option to rename the file from the orginal import name to something more descriptive.
Â
This seems to work fine with both the information in LR and the actual file name being correctly displayed. Even when I select the file for publishing the example file name show matches the new name after rename. However, the actual file generated always as the original imported file name. This happens for all files.

I'm using LR 5.2 on Windows 8.1.Â
Can the pictures file name be printed directly on to each image so that a preview book could be printed by Blurb with each photograph numbered.I can do this in slideshow but when I export the files for printing the numbers are gone.Several of my friend in the profession would also like the ability to apply the file names in this way.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have created an extensive action that runs on one psd. It turns on and off layers and fills them with different colors. The batch wants to name each iteration of the script the same name. Is there any way to save with incremental names. I know the batch dialog has this option, but I think it only works when the batch is based on many different files.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo when I batch plot I get the name of the drawing file followed by a dash then the tab name. For instance the drawing file is: MSA-01 Plans.dwg and the tab is W-101, when I batch plot I get [MSA-01 Plans - W-101.pdf].
We never had duplicated sheets so I was curious to save the time of me cleaning up the file names everytime, if I could batchplot with just the tab name.
I would like to learn how to create a print design for college hoodies. I get asked all the time but it takes me a very long time to do it. I am sure there is a quicker way in illustrator.

I want to create a design like this image. I am using Illustrator CS 5.1 right now.
why the "custom text" and "start number" is not available anymore on Export?

View 3 Replies View Relatedthe batch conversion tool can't handle long file names as generated by the Windows Live Photo Gallery import tool. I was shocked (dismayed?) to see that my brand new X5 doesn't import DV as nicely as this free MS tool (as an aside). Here is an example filename: "Tape05 2001-01-02 14.05.33.avi". It stumbles on the first '.' it finds. Luckily it does not overwrite files that end up having the same name because of this truncation but still. Come on now. Path manipulation is junior engineer programming 101.
The batch convert also does not remember the target directory last used. At least default it to the source directory, right?Unlikely to be fixed, I know, but maybe it'll go on the list for X6.
how do I put the file extension number or name right on my photo for clients to order?
View 4 Replies View Relatedusing lightroom 4.3 when I edit a group of photos in lightroom, most of the files will only be edited in lightroom but a few will also be opend into PS6 (by right clicking > edit in>) Once the PS edits are complete the image is saved & I return to Lightroom. When I export the entire group of images - I set the file name to 'custom name - original file number'. The images I edited in lightroom only - all are renamed as expected (ie wedding photo-1234, wedding photo-1235). The images I edited in both lightroom & photoshop receive the custom name but lose their file name (ie wedding photo-, wedding photo-1, wedding photo-2, etc.) When viewing these PS edited images in lightroom - they do show the file #, it is only after export that the file # is lost..
Â
I wish to maintain the file names for all of the images.
this is in regards to a Lightroom 3.5 exported JPG. This was a year ago when I had been told it was best to export files with simple renumbering of them from 1 to x... instead of retaining the original RAW 4-digit file name.
Â
I've currently lost the original files, and need to do a search for them via these 4 digits to see if I have them tucked away in any of my drives. I downloaded a metadata explorer, and it's telling me all the lightroom editing information, and everything else, but somehow does not have the simplest of information — that 4 digit original file name.
Â
Am I grasping at straws or is there likely to be any way to find this information out? I don't work with metadata, so there wouldn't have been any customizations to how Lightroom configures this...
I cannot seem to exprt my images and retain the orginal jpeg file number once I have watermarked them... I choose the "save with original file number" option in the drop down list but it still exports them with new numbers. How do I keep my original numbers?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using LR 4.4 on an iMac with OsX 10.8.3. As suggested in the following link [URL]...I created a Filename Preset with this format: Myname-YYYY-MM-DD-Filename Number Suffix. This preset works as expected when I export files that haven't been edited in Photoshop CS5. However, when I save a file after editing in PS and return to LR the file name look like this: Myname-YYYY-MM-DD-4369-Edit.tif.  When I then use my Filename Preset when exporting, LR strips off the "-4369-Edit". I don't care about loosing the "-Edit" but I want to retain the Filename Number Suffix.  How can I retain my filename number suffix?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like the file number text to show up on some of my exported JPG images. I need this for the purpose of looking up the original file. All I see in the watermark section is the ability to hard code text only. Is there a way to do this inside LR?  Perhaps a plugin?
Â
Alternately, is there 3rd party utility to do this to a whole folder of exported JPGs? That would be messy, but I really need to ID certain event photos ON the photo.
I've over 400 old AutoCAD 14 files that I want to batch process into pdf's at an "C" sized landscape layout.Â
I've tried tools in Adobe and CAD but can't seam to find the one that will open each file and export out a C print at the extents of each file.
I would like to resize and watermark all of the image in a particular file. I understand that I can do this with Lightroom, but I do now know how.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm in the process of creating 3D points (as an overlay) on some laser scanned data (using RiScan, it's just 3d dimensional data, with a northing, easting and RL) and unfortunately the only export option is to export to .dxf... Which is fine but when I export, the information has the point ID as the layer name.
I am aiming at getting this data into another program to analyse and it needs the point ID or name to be my annotation, as opposed to the layer.
So what I need is a way of converting the names of each individual points layer, to the point ID.
I can no longer change the name of raw files when saving as JPEG. Software will convert to JPEG but only with the same file name. Previously saved files work fine.
