Can the pictures file name be printed directly on to each image so that a preview book could be printed by Blurb with each photograph numbered.I can do this in slideshow but when I export the files for printing the numbers are gone.Several of my friend in the profession would also like the ability to apply the file names in this way.
View 1 RepliesI accidentally included a file rename when I just imported a batch of several hundred pictures. I violated a rule that I teach my own Lightroom students, and that is to look carefully at the import panel choices before proceeding.
How can I correct this so that the files are named as they originally were? I know how to easily fix the filenames in Windows (using a tool called BulkRename, for example), but then I'd have to "find" each image one-by-one and correctly point to the renamed version. I tried selecting all the images and then using F2 to rename, but none of the templates allow deleting a portion of the filename.
P.S. Here is an example of what I mean:
ON CARD:
IMG_0001.NEF
...
IMG_0300.NEF
WHAT I RENAMED TO ACCIDENTALLY:
IMG_0001 {shot by John Doe}.NEF
...
IMG_0300 {shot by John Doe}.NEF
I am using Lightroom 4.4 and an Epson 3880 with printer driver ver. 6.6. I want to print a 16 x 20 image on 17 x 22 paper. I select a paper size of 17 x 22, and in the Lightroom print module, I set the margins to zero, and the cell size to height=16 and width=20. I turn on the ruler guide, and it shows that I will get a 16x20 image on the paper. However, when I print it, the image is about 3/8" larger than that in both dimensions.

I love Active D-Lighting, it saves me a lot of shadow/highlight recovery, but Lightroom doesn't support it. In LR3, when exporting a raw file as a jpeg the only choices given at the top of the dialog box are Hard Drive and CD. Is there a way to export directly to a thumb drive or external HD without exporting to the HD then copying the file (s) over?

I have noticed that many of my file names have been renamed in LR (now V5.3) by changing the filename from "XXX_yyyy.NEF" to "XXX_yyyy-2.NEF". IF I look in the folder where the images are stored, both versions of the file are there. I went into LR and deleted the "-2" version and re-imported the original files. In some cases this worked and the LR file now has the original name. In some other cases, LR re-named on import and appended the "-2" to the file name. I checked and it turned out there were other files with the same name on the disk and in the LR catalogue, so I understand why these files were renamed. In other cases, however, there is no other file in LR with the same name. Yet, when I try to delete the "-2" file in LR and re-import the original file (as I did earlier), LR again renames my file by appending the "-2" suffix to the file name. It does not copy the file, it actually renames the file in the folder where it is stored. I cannot understand why the file name is being changed in this case.
why LR is doing this and how can I prevent it?I am running LR under 64-bit Win 7 with 12 GB RAM, the problem seems to have occurred primarily with Nikon D200 RAW (.NEF) files.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a hard drive published service configured in Publishing Manager that creates JPGs of any images that are placed into that published service. For the most part all the settings I specify on that service are adhered to when I "publish now". However one setting appears to be ignored and that is File Naming | Rename To:.
In the configuration of that option in Publishing Manager I have the rename to option set to "Filename - Sequence". When this option is set the example text it states at the bottom of file naming displays what I expect it be on output. However, when I "publish now" the file exports but with the original file name of the photo. Let me explain further. Typically when I've fully processed the photo I use the Lightroom file rename option to rename the file from the orginal import name to something more descriptive.
This seems to work fine with both the information in LR and the actual file name being correctly displayed. Even when I select the file for publishing the example file name show matches the new name after rename. However, the actual file generated always as the original imported file name. This happens for all files.
I'm using LR 5.2 on Windows 8.1.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a few users which are all experiencing the same issue. They didn't seem to have this issue until upgrading from CS5 to CS6.
Basically AI stops responding (usually permanantly hangs and requires restarting app) for at least 30 seconds when trying to copy an image from AI into PS. The method they're using is to directly select the image from AI and then simply paste directly into PS (I know there are other methods of doing this but this is apparently the way they have always done it).
Their machines are very well spec'd
OS - Win7 64-bit
RAM - 8 to 32GB!
CPU - i7 INTEL
GPU - Standard (but compatible) and has latest drivers but disabled by PS as i suspect it's not quite grunty enough?
Win7 has been fully updated as well as all Adobe products / Drivers etc...
I have tweaked both AI & PS (including the File Handling & Clipboard setting which enables AICB) for better performance. I think I have basically tried everything and confused as this wasn't a problem when they were using CS5?

I cannot load it into memory using .Net, I get an out of memory exception. the only thing I think I can do is read it directly from Autocad. To do that, there is a method of the "RasterImageDef" class called "OpenImage" witch returns an IntPtr to the image. I tried to create a Bitmap object from the IntPtr and the save it to disk. I get no errors but the saved image is black. here' the code :

I have a 2D image and I have the opportunity to get this image printed as a 3D model. To do this however, I of course need a VERY SIMPLE 3D model made. I attached the photo. And then sewn into dresses..While I know how to change the size and scale of the image and canvas. I can not tell how big or small the objects or different elements in the pattern will be when printed out. For example if I want to have a certain part of the pattern appear on the shoulder of a dress and another on the hem, how do I ensure that they are printed at the right size and in the right place. I tried printing out one pattern on a meter of fabric and it turn out that it was too big and most of the design will be cut in the process of making the dress. I have no way to determine the dimensions. Is there a way where I can place a dress outline over an image to check it out or size the individual items inside?

Printed some rectangle that are 7.5 x 14.5 inches wide on the corel page on the monitor, but they did not actually print 7.5, they were about 1/4 inch smaller! the 14.5 dimension was fine. got to measuring other images I have printed and some are perfect, some are off.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor some reason with my Photoshop CS3, the image adjustments; i.e. contrast, brightness, etc. , are completely missing when the image is printed. The image file after saving looks fine on screen in a photo viewer, but when printed, the image reverts back to pre-edited state.
Things like cropping,color and transforming carry over , but the image adjustments don't . This is really strange, you would think that once an edited image was saved, all the changes to it are now permanent no matter what form it's displayed.
How is printing the image reversing the image adjustment editing to the file? Is there some kind of setting that it's in thats making it do this?

This code I created exports my current Ai document as a PSD with set options. It also names the new file what it is called in Ai.
How can I call the created file and open it directly in Photoshop? Keep in mind I would be working on multiple files, so file names would change every time I ran this Export Script.
I could call a specifically named file and open that, but that's not what I need this script to do. I just need it to open the newly created PSD file.
