Photoshop :: How To Best Get Photo Like Result From Printed Image

Mar 28, 2012

I was scanning some old family photos and came across one that isn't an original photo but looks like it was printed on one of those little remembrance cards that are passed out at funerals and it is made up of little dots.  The scanned image ends up with a kind of plaid pattern on it because of the dots:

I took a picture with my cell phone and it looks better.I have never tackled anything like this before and was wondering if there is a standard way of improving this kind of picture to look more like a photo.

However when I prepared to print this:

i.e. copying the image and pasting it onto an open office file or microsoft word file

(as I need to safe a file with photos for the printing shop),

the size of the image shows as almost covering an entire A4 sheet.

Why is that and not the set size?

Photoshop :: How Big Or Small Items In Image Will Be After Being Printed Out

Sep 19, 2013

I have just started using photoshop to develop some designs that are meant to be printed on fabric. And then sewn into dresses..While I know how to change the size and scale of the image and canvas. I can not tell how big or small the objects or different elements in the pattern will be when printed out. For example if I want to have a certain part of the pattern appear on the shoulder of a dress and another on the hem, how do I ensure that they are printed at the right size and in the right place. I tried printing out one pattern on a meter of fabric and it turn out that it was too big and most of the design will be cut in the process of making the dress. I have no way to determine the dimensions. Is there a way where I can place a dress outline over an image to check it out or size the individual items inside?

Photoshop :: Image Editing Is Erased When Printed

Oct 10, 2008

For some reason with my Photoshop CS3, the image adjustments; i.e. contrast, brightness, etc. , are completely missing when the image is printed. The image file after saving looks fine on screen in a photo viewer, but when printed, the image reverts back to pre-edited state.

Things like cropping, color and transforming carry over , but the image adjustments don't . This is really strange, you would think that once an edited image was saved, all the changes to it are now permanent no matter what form it's displayed.

How is printing the image reversing the image adjustment editing to the file? Is there some kind of setting that it's in thats making it do this?

Photoshop :: Dimensions Of Printed Image Not Equal To Document

Feb 21, 2012

I am running PS CS5.5 on a a MAC running OSX 10.7.3 and printing to an Epson Stylus Photo 2200.

Background:
Basically, the dimensions of a printed graphic are different than the size that is specified in the PS version of the graphic. The amount of error is about 1/16 of an inch over a 6 inch distance. This matters as the printed output must fit a template exactly.

Details:
I create a 300 dpi resolution document. I am using inches as the ruler setting and the method for specifying the size of an object in the Free Transform Dialog. I create, with the rectangle tool, a rectangle and then use command-T to specify the dimensions to be 6 inches X 1 inch. I check using the ruler tool and verify that the shape is 6 X 1. When I print, the object is smaller.  In fact, it will be 5 29/32 inches instead of 6 inches.

If I create the same object using Illustrator, the object prints (same printer)  exactly the specified dimension. If I place the illustrator object into Photoshop it will "say" that it is 6 inches but prints at the reduced size.

After pulling my hair out, I have just adopted the work-a-round of scaling the output, in the printer dialog, by an appropriate % to compensate.  There must be a better way to address this problem.

Corel PHOTO-PAINT X5 :: How To Correct Scanned CMYK Images Originally Printed Out Of Register

Jun 10, 2012

I'm working on a job that requires recreating vintage box artwork. This involves recomposing scanned images into a new layout, recreating text from matched fonts - that sort of thing. Unfortunately, some of the scanned images (originally printed offset press in cmyk) were printed with one or more of the plates out of register, creating a halo effect on one side. Can this be corrected in PhotoPaint? Is there a way to create each channel as an object which could be moved to realign the colors and then flattened again?

Photoshop :: Levels Preview On Channel Is Different To Result?

Mar 22, 2013

In CS3 I use a Dust & Scratches filter on a layer in a high resolution (3200+ppi) 16bpc image, then traditionally change the layer blend mode to Difference, make a duplicate of a channel which has the clearest information of where the filtered changes were made, and use levels to increase the contrast on a copy of that channel. Occasionally I get this result though - the Levels adjustment preview shows spots clearly, but clicking OK results in something very different from the preview. This only seems to happen occasionally.and result looks like this:

As the purpose of the channel is to make a mask, the result isn't as good as I'd like. I assumed that the problem might have been the grey starting colour of the channel, so I pushed the 0 up to 9 in an attempt to get a uniform K value of 100% on the darkest areas, and then ran a second Levels adjustment to make the white spots brighter. The second levels adjustment resulted in pretty much the same result as above, again, not what was shown in the preview. I also assumed that it may be down to numbers and that levels is occasionally too limited to deal with all the shades of grey on a 16 bit channel. Probably wrongly as this normally works exactly as required.

This only happens occasionally, and isn't that big a deal - I can quite happily go and use a Curve instead. I'm just wondering why the preview in the adjustment window is different from the actual result. The fact that it only happens on some of my images is what concerns me - purging all beforehand does not make any difference.how to get accurate results in the preview? Is the preview using a different method to show the results? Unfortunately I won't have a copy of CS6 to try this on until a couple of weeks from now, so not sure the best way for someone to try and replicate it on newer versions.

Photoshop :: Pattern Creation - How To See End Result When Creating It

Mar 1, 2013

Is there a way to see the end result of a pattern as you are creating it?

That is a way so you can see the pattern tiled all over the document.  So say you are working on a 100x100 area to be the pattern in layer 1, but you want to see this replicated over an entire document.  Maybe you have an overall image/document that is 800x600 say, and you work on the 100x100 area in a layer.    Anyway some way of doing is so that when you make a small change in the 100x100 area of the layer you're using for the patter creation, you immdiately see the replicated result of the 800x600 area.

Photoshop :: Merge To HDR Pro Preview And Final Result Very Different

Photoshop :: CS6 - Result Of HDR Tool Look Totally Different Than Preview?

Dec 12, 2012

I've recently tried using the Photoshop HDR feature. I have selected three different exposures in Lightroom and chose to merge them as an HDR image. All went well until the preview. I've found some settings that work really well. I've decided to go for the 16-bit path, not using Lightroom's 32-bit image capability, and let Photoshop do the tone mapping for now.

Here's what my preview image and the entire tool window looks like: [URL]

And this is the result one step later. It's totally over-saturated and has other merge errors. It basically doesn't even look similar to the preview. What's the preview good for if it doesn't show what I'll get? How should I decide what setting works good if I can't see it? [URL]

This is Photoshop CS6 x64 on Windows 7 SP1. The source images are 16-bit TIFFs as they were exported by Lightroom.

Photoshop :: Bizarre Result Of Path Selection

Jun 13, 2006

I cut with the pen tool. The path was not complicated and had many straight edges to follow, so I didn't have to click many points. After I completed and closed the path, I sel the icon, load path as selection and then the path became this bizarre zig zag, almost electric marching ants effect. Then I deselected and there were like hundreds of anchor points at every centimeter or so. The edges of the selected area however were normal and smooth.
