Lightroom :: Way To View Detailed Progress Activity In 4?
Dec 1, 2012
When I'm doing a large import, all I can see is the little white progress bar in the upper left. Since it sometimes gets hung up on an operation, it doesn't provide enough feedback about the processes.
I'd prefer to be able to double click that and see a full activity report in a new window of what is getting imported as it's happening, with a separate progress bar for each item. I'd like to see this for all other actions as well, but importing would be my priority.I requesting a new feature? I'm running Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.3 RC [858820].
Some time ago Lightroom started freezing, it didn't matter too much what screen was involved. I'd be editing a photo or even doing something outside of lightroom and lightroom would become unresponsive and wouldn't display the current image etc.
It would allow you to close it, however the process would stay open in the task manager. No matter how one tries to close the tree or process, it totally ignores these requests and requires a reboot to resume work. This also happens while using photoshop with lightroom open - the two programs freezing in tandem.
I have tried doing memory checks on the drive with no problem showing, I have run registry cleaning / ccleaner and so on. There is no spyware or viruses operating. The reliability monitor does not show these crashes. I am unaware of anything that was installed or uninstalled or when this specifically started happening.
There have been a few driver power state failure blue screens while using lightroom (although nowhere near as many as the simple freezes). Unable to diagnose the problem with this I uninstalled and reinstalled lightroom. I have tried both 4.4 and the new 5 in the hope that maybe something was fixed. My display drivers I am pretty sure are up to date also.
Is there a way of quickly and easily toggling the visibility of the line from shown from the base view to the detailed view ? I just want to flick it off so I only see the detailed view with no line attached.
I had a situation where I had to quit Photoshop immediately, but it wouldn’t let me because a background save was in progress. I don’t like killing a program with the Task Manager during a write operation, but that’s what I had to do.
If there’s a way to cancel a lengthy background save or to view its progress, I haven’t found it yet. There needs to be a way to do this.
I'm trying to find a way of filtering the 'work in progress' section visibilities from a plan by view filters. The filter I use is 'Sheet Name' equal '<None>'. Then turning off visibility. It works when used in the Browser organisation filters but not in the view filter for the sheets.
I don't want to create a check box or dialogue box for the sheet as this will add to the required maintenance.
Using Lightroom's new book feature? I can't find where to save a book that I am in progress with in Lightroom 4.2. Why doesn't LR have a "Save as" feature like 99% of all other programs on the planet? !"{}#@!!!
How could I share development progress with multiple devices? I would like to share the library on the desktop and notebook. According to faq it's not possible to put library on a network ( I have a nas), but this would be the best solution!
I'm trying to streamline a daily activity processing photos with Gimp by using incrontab (which makes it when you add files to a directory, it will automatically run a program to deal with the event). I have a python-fu script that I need to run after selecting four corners of what will be new photos.
It will run itself on all images open in gimp which reduces my keystrokes or mouse clicks. The problem I'm having is that when I put four photos into the processing directory, incron opens four instances of gimp instead of opening gimp once and adding each photo to its open images. I'm using Ubuntu Linux. I'd really like to make the same instance of gimp open the photos, but I'm not sure how to do that.
I have to do an animation showing a bacterial object traveling through a swarm of red blood cells and then being attacked by a group of white cells that clump to the bacteria. I've looked online and i keep seeing some thing about a " lock bond test " in particle flow.
I want to add a watermark to a photo which encompasses a progress time or finish time of a sports event. For example, if an event starts at 7.00 am, photos taken at 8.05 am, in the watermark I want to display 1:05 hr (or 65 mins).
Basically, how are these kinds of sites made? I mean the detail and the overall layout and design looks amazingly painstaking. I can design websites fairly well (or so i think :| ) but nothing close to the amount of detail seen on that site. Are websites like these made by hand from scratch? Photoshop perhaps? A 3D app? or what?
I got a nice picture of an overhead image of a car.. I want to imitate it in Photoshop 6 but I dont know where to start and what I should do.. I dont need to copy every exact detail, but I would like to copy what's important and maybe add my own features.. Im gonna be using the car in a Java game..
where I could view/download a comprehensive color wheel or color flow (color making) chart? I'm looking for something that says/depicts "yellow + blue = green, black + white = gray" etc. etc.
I used to have a color flow chart that depicted what colrs made what, and it was very handy--told me what colors made flesh tones, shades, tints, nuetrals, opposites, what 3 colors made 1 color etc., but I've lost it somewhere along the line.
if there is a way to get detailed file information. I'm teaching a course this quarter and need to review about 300 dwg files/week for homework and labs. Obviously, cheating is a major issue (copying other files). Students are getting a bit more clever and can get around windows data (accessed/modified/created stamps). I think AutoCAD has more detailed information related to the dwg file that I can extract to compare files.
the sketch is in an eps format, the strokes are black but the white spaces between are transparent, how can i "fill" the transparent ares with white wiothout doing a live paint one by one? (havent used illustrator for a while but now we have cs6.
I was having a discussion where I suggested our Studio people to implement the use of detailed Photoshop history logs saved as metadata inside the file. I find it to be a great tool to track changes made to an image since, in our regular workflow, different people can make changes to a single file before this one gets used in a layout. The answer I got was that it may slow down the editing/saving process of the files and create bigger files. Since it's only metadata, I don't think it would use much more memory/processor when actually working on an open file and I don't think it would add much to an image file size.
How would I make a perspective shadow on an image such as this? URL.....I have the Alien Skin plug-ins but it doesn't cover all the points of the image. I've also tried transforming a black fill layer with distort, skew and warp.
I need to use when trying to produce small but detailed images using PSP Photo X2? I have attempted to solve this problem numerous times without success.
When i use the BOM feature, i get a list but cannot get panel sizes as dimensions in a table. I can get a part ID and other not so important in for for a BOM but dimensions and sizes should be key.
How can i get a detailed BOM to include panel sizes (like a cut list).
I have an image of 4 greyhounds, and i want to vectorize them in high detail so i can use it within a logo for a web project. The image is: http://www.valkama.org/blog/uploaded...ama-739767.jpg
I have been using photoshop for a good year or 2 and have used the vector tools to create a number of vector images but nothing as detailed as this.
If someone could answer the questions below and maybe offer some personal advice that would be great:
1 - Would it be better to use a package designed for vectoring rather then using photoshop. I heard from a few people that Photoshop isn't the best tool for the job.
2 - How long would something like this take? A few hours? A day? Like i said i havn't done anything like this before even though i worked as a graphic designer for 8 months.
3 - Where would i start? Im thinking start with the dogs bodies, them move onto the coats (the coat with the number on it) etc etc, leaving the fine detail till last.
I took a picture on my phone when I was out, and it's kinda.. blurry and slightly pixelated. I was just wondering if theres anyway to make the image much more detailed - basically a better quality of image.
The loupe view on the second screen used to display information about the photo. I double clicked on it and it disappeared and no matter what I do I can't seem to get it back.
On the primary screen this can be added/removed or changed in Library Module by selecting the menu view->view options... which gets you to a settings window where you can set what shows. However, I cannot seem to find a similar thing for the second monitor.
Where can I see a detailed log of bug fixes? There was just yesterday an update available for Photoshop CC. It only says "bug fixes" which is not enough information for me. I want to know what has been addressed. Where would I find this information?
I have been using the "Create Surface Profile" to create cross sections of a road at various points using separate alignments (at the various points). I was wondering if there was a more sophisticated way to do this? When comparing my work to other plans it seems that this method is juvenile.
How can you force the geometry of reference parts to print behind to print behind your visible parts. I have my reference parts print out on a light gray layer to be shown indistinct on a drawings, but it prints over my object lines in effect hiding them. This is even true if a reference part is hidden. Then hidden line will print over the object lines as well.
How do I show detailed drawings of all weldments onto one drawing sheet? I have created a weldment assembly of various pipes attached together and would like to create shop drawings. Please see attached picture for model tree. I can't seem to bring in seperate views of each of the pipes on the same drawing sheet for proper detailing. Do I have to do something before making the assembly or afterwards to get those views?
I hate 3d orbit with a passion on autoCad / Revit. It is impossible to do detailed design work on a small scale because every time you need to pan around a corner junction for example the whole screen shifts and you lose what you were doing. I understand the way that the 3d orbit tool works is that it picks the pivot point according to the closest object to the cursor.
This however does not work at all well. It always picks the same point on the screen no matter where you are working or where the cursor is pointing. There are times when it does work, however the majority of the time it doesn't. This is where sketchUp is good - the orbit tool is excellent along with its perspective projection. It seems to intuitively pin point exactly where you wish to pivot. Unfortunately everything else about sketchup i hate.
When ever i insert a gradient or a photo it comes up with a progress bar which takes ages to load and it used to load in 1 second but now it takes ages , i have looked every where but there was no results, I am currently editing a Wedding Movie in a different Program but i also need to make a menu for when the DVD is in the DVD Player but i went to Photoshop to edit a photo but this happened and i have reinstalled it but nothing has changed. I have tried the Edit then Performance solution but that did nothing.
To open a 200meg PSD file in CS3 takes about 20 secs, I get this progress bar come up saying Reading Photoshop Format... is this normal?
I have a fast P4 processor, 2 gigs of Ram and large separate hardrive I'm using as the scrtch disk.
I am curious becuase my friend has a less efficient system running CS3 and he gets no progress bar or delay when opening this same image or any large image for that matter?
I am using export action to generate artboard images in JPEG from my plug-in. The "Exporting Artwork..." progress bar is shown when the images are generated. I want to disable this progress bar. I've tried using AIAppContextSuite::AllowProgress (error = sAIAppContext->AllowProgress(false);) but this doesnot disable the progress bar. I'm I using this correclty? Is there any other way to disable progress bar?
