When I use Lightroom with the LG 29EA93 29 inch Widescreen LED Monitor Lightroom 5 initially looks and works OK but when I try and make changes using develop I get a gray area where the image should be (see below). I have tried other resolutions and that made no difference. Other apps/programs work fine.
I tried my old monitor 1680x1050 and Lightroom 5 functions fine on that one.
I have upgraded my Lightroom from 5.0 to the new update, so I am using Lightroom 5.2 . Yesterday I went into my old Lightroom 4 on my computer, retrieved a photo, exported it and shut down. Late last night I went to open Lightroom 5.2 and when I did all the photos are a screen of light grey with a light grey border. It seems all the date is there, but no photos show in either Lightroom 5.2 or Lightroom 4.

I have what is to me a rather large assembly. 1823 total occurrences in the active document and 700 open documents in the session.My problem is that when I open the assembly nothing shows up on the monitor in the image area. The tree is fully populated an showing visibility on all the parts.I have tried saving as a different level of visibility and still no go.

When I am in the develop mode and make edit adjustments on any setting the 2nd monitor does not update. If I move to another image then come back the image is updated but it does not work in real time. I have never had this problem before and it worked fine in Lightroom V4.0

I've added gps coords to many photos now and it works fine when it's working but then randomly sometimes when I start LR it's just blank.
I have a large single catalogue of photos. Some of the thumbnails in the library are now appearing greyed out. I think they were all there a few days ago, and since then the only things I have done are upload more images, cull those I did not want and backup the catalogue. I do not recall having this issue with LR3, and they all seemed OK when I upgraded to LR4. I have restarted LR several times, and it makes no difference. My Mac tells me all programs are up to date.

View 3 Replies View RelatedA friend of mine has been happily using / importing Sony Nex 7 Raw images into Lightroom 4.2 / 4.3 for a long time when suddenly this happens.
Note the grey border all around the image.
This file was imported with: No develop presetNo metadata preset.Process 2012.Various std in the box profiles. Here is a screen paste of the file dimensions (also showing that it is a raw file and not cropped).
All Sony Nex raw files imported to a particular machine (Win 7, 64 bit) demonstrate this behaviour. So, in trying to trace the problem.
The crop tool was checked to make sure there was no crop applied. They grey border is not just a visual border. If you examine the jpg it is actually grey pixels consuming a large percentage of the native 6000x4000 Nex 7 resolution.The Reset button was pressed also,to make sure the raw file conversion was restored to basecamp.History reset.A raw image imported into the same machine / software from a Nikon D300 behaves perfectly.Previously imported Nex 7 Raw images are ok.When the images are imported into two other machines they imports perfectly.Scrapping the preference file makes no difference.Overlay mode was checked, an overlay image loaded and then overlay mode turned off… just to make sure this was NO overlay.Applying a crop and then removing a crop still leaves the grey border.Applying the crop reduces the image dimensions to approx.. 4946 x 3293. Exporting an image to jpg (as shown) leaves image with grey border. This grey border can be cropped out, but it means the resolution will reduce.Exploring various scene modes / in camera crops / resolution settings on the camera does not seem to make any difference.Formatting the card in the camera, take a picture, import directly from card. 3 different cards used. (No change).When using the Catelog on a different machine the grey border remains.
NB Camera set to RAW + jpeg. Jpeg's import without border.
So finally last night…
……. we uninstalled Lightroom 4.3 and re-installed into a different folder. (No change).
The layers that are colored will show up only some of the time. Any other time they are gray. Where do i go to fix that?
View 8 Replies View RelatedMAC OS / Photoshop CS5 As you can see in the attached image, my clone stamp selection doesn't extend out to the edges of the outline, which makes using it very clumsy to use. My PS installation at home and all the installations at this business don't do this. I've tried messing with all the clone stamp settings, resetting the clone stamp presets, and resetting the general Photoshop preferences at startup. However, nothing I've tried has had any affect. So how can I get this adjusted so that the clone stamp selected area extends out to the edges of the grey outline?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just purchased a new monitor, and when I opened up elements 12 it asked me if i wanted to correct my colour profile. I said yes, and now all whites on that monitor are displayed as a sepia like yellow colour. When I move photoshop to my other monitor, the image displays fine. Its not an issue with the monitor, as b&w images in other applications display well.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been using lightroom 4. At first it decided that the center image just wouldn't display on some photos. The previews look fine, the selected photo preview seemed to work, but the center image would just gray out like there was no photo at all. I tried to uninstall several things, updated my video drivers, even changed virus protection just in case but nothing worked.
I have the creative cloud, so I uninstalled version 4 and upgraded to version 5. Went into my catalog and almost exactly the same thing started happening. This time, I can see unedited photos, but if I apply a preset the image disappears again. If I click off the photo and click back I can see the image unedited in the main window and the previews show it with the edits. Sometimes I can see the edited photo but at low resolution, but it will not sharpen up to the full image. I even cleared my preview cache just in case but nothing seems to be working.
I don't want to have to re-install windows just to try fix this.I should not that the only thing that changed is that I installed a new Epson printer in windows. I have now uninstalled all but the driver for that printer and still have the issue.

View 2 Replies View Related2 days ago all was fine Lightroom worked like a champ... yesterday all I get are gray squares insted of photo image. I have reloaded Lightroom 5.3 no change......From the same usb harddrive all works great on my desktop computer.. With laptop the gray squares. I have tried the Synchronize folder no change tho numbers showed up in loup view.........but no images. From the stand alone hard drive I can get photos in Photoshop and BRIDGE.

I'm working off a scanned negative and I want to show my printer just how to crop the image. She was hoping to see both what's inside and outside the crop? View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I use the "Plot" command the rectangular drawing on the right side that is normally hatched to indicate the area to be plotted appears as being blank. I have been using the "Windows" option to define the extent of the plot. When the "Preview" command is used the plot appears as a blank screen.
I have tried various attempts to make this hatched drawing reappear but without success. I know that this needs to be present before I can successfully plot the drawing.
I've been trying to calculate large areas using fills but I keep encountering a problem with some of the hatches not showing an area and thus ruining my calculation. I've found out that I can correct it by removing certain crossing point between lines as is shown below in my screenshots. Is there any reason this is causing a particular problem and can I avoid it to save me having to go back over my hatches checking for these malformed hatches?

I guess the title pretty much says it all Dashed lines in my drawing turn solid when i switch to the layout area, and when i try to plot. I've tried fiddling with line type scale, but it hasn't solved the problem. I've attached one of the drawings i'm having trouble with.
I think i might have figured it out, when i set lts to 0.05 the show up fine in the layout area, but in the drawing are it looks like the line type scale is way too low. why the dashed lines don't show up the same in the drawing and layout areas?
can I alter the BACKGROUND COLOUR from the Grey to a lighter grey as in P/Shop Album 2.00 which is just what I want..I hate the darker colour as background..I have just purchased the Elements 11.

This works perfectly for quickly assessing brightness and contrast of pictures.
In pse 10 however I could not find any button to change the preset lightgrey background colour to darkgrey.
I am currently running Map 3D 2012 with CadWorx and I am having an issue with one of my multi tab drawings. Any object set to plot grey (any grey), that is in paper space, is plotting black only in one of my layouts. similar objects in model space and in both spaces on other layouts are all plotting accordingly.

I have tried using 3 NEF images, tried DNG images and JPG images, I end up with the same result, a murkey grey image. Hopefully the screen shot will come through showing my results. View 6 Replies View RelatedI've taken a photo of a monitor. The monitor is OFF so the screen is black. I want to superimpose another image onto the blacked-out screen, so it looks like the monitor is on and displaying a live image.
Apart from the overlay operation, it's complicated by the fact that the image of the monitor is slightly distorted by perspective, while the inserted image is square.
So I guess this means that I need to perspective-isedistort the second image to match the available space on the monitor image.
I'm not unfamiliar with simple PS operations, but this project is a little outside my range of expertise.
However, I assume that the first step will be to get both images to the same density. The monitor pic is currently at 180 pixelsinch while the pic to be overlaid is 95.987 pixelsinch.

Monitor and printer are calibrated with Colormunki Photo.In photoshop I softproof using the profile created with colormunki and the image looks excellent.
Whn I print, I choose "photoshop manages colors", and in the printer setting I make sure color management is turned off. The prints look very dull and washed out. I make sure the correct printer profile is chosen (the one created with colormunki for the specific paper I use)
Bust, if using the same image, I choose "Printer manages colors", and then in the printer color management choose "Adobe 1998", the brints look wonderful.What am I doing the is causing Photoshop manages colors to look worse than printer manages colors, when in both cases the image looks great on the monitor?
Why can't I drop a clip in the Program Monitor from the Source Monitor in Premiere? When I try to move a clip from the Source to the Program Monitor, a hand displays with the "circle with a line through it" symbol.
