3ds Max :: Render To Texture / Normal Maps Don´t Render Correctly
Apr 13, 2011The same scene, same settings, produce 2 very different outputs in max 2011 and 2012, render to texture for normals is currently useless in max 2012.
The blue one is a correct tangent normal map created from a sphere in max 2011, the colored one is the the one created inside max 2012 from the same objects and settings, and the last is another sample of normals generated in max 2012.
AutoCad 3D :: How To Render Manually Created 3D Wireframe
Aug 21, 2011A have AutoCad 2000. I have made a 3D wireframe drawing of a boat hull by drawing each "wire" individually. Most of the surface of the hull is curved in two directions. The drawing is made of some straigt lines, polylines, elipses and circles and many arcs and splines. Snap is used everywhere so all lines connects together where they should do.
The problem I have is the drawing is difficult to view as the lines that should be hidden is not hidden. I can't find any way to do this. I have played with the 2D, 3D wireframe, with render, shaded etc. But I cant find any way to do it.
Is it not possible to hide the (what should be) invisible parts of a manually drawn up 3D wireframe drawing?
Lightroom :: How To Correctly Import PhotoShop Elements Catalog
Apr 1, 2012I have a PhotoShop Elements with >12,000 images. I have keywords assigned and some are rated.
My computer has gone from WinXP to Win7. I have also had several different hard drive upgrades.
I currently have C:, D:, E: as available hard drives and F: and G: as Optical drives.
When I import, it has the correct number of photos, but thinks that everything is on F:. I believe that the E: drive used to be a different volume number previously.
I can manually refind every folder, but that will be very time consuming as I have around 100 folders.
Is there some way to say "Use E: instead of F:"
Lightroom :: Can't Import JPG Files Created In Photoshop?
Jan 1, 2013As part of my workflow I import through Lightroom, then edit into Photoshop. This creates file 1 & 2 of 2 in my Lightroom. After editing all of the selected pictures into PSD files I routinely provide clients with smaller JPG's. I do this by opening the PSD flattening, shrinking, sharpening and "save as" into JPG's.
This does not create a third file in Lightroom and when I go to import the new JPG's Lightroom does not see them. I can open a Finder window ( I use a MAC) and see the files, but cannot get Lightroom to see them to import, then export to other media.

Jun 24, 2012I have LTR 4.1 and CS6 and cannot get the merge to panorama to align all selected photos using the "edit in CS6" feature. If I select the same photos directly in CS6 with out using LTR then the panorama works fine. From LTR, CS6 will not align at least one photo and leaves it below the photos it has merged - it does not warn that it cannot align the photos. I have tried this on several sets of photos.
Any settings within LTR 4.1 or CS6 that needed changing? This feature worked well with LTR 3 and CS5 and trying panorama's previous crreated in LTR 3 now in LTR 4.1, using the same photos, will not merge at least one of the photo's.
Lightroom :: 3 Application Cannot Start Correctly?
Oct 6, 2012I am getting an error message saying that the application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b) click ok to close application. Further research appears that the temp file location is not found for lightroom 3 64bit, and it wants me to find it or reinstall lightroom 3. The problem is that my software is 16hrs away from me and I forgot to register it when I got it for school in July 2010. I am not sure what I can do here, but I need it for school. Can I just download a trial version and until I can get this fixed

Sep 26, 2012My images won't always sync. Basically I loaded images into Lightroom 4.1 using the auto tone feature. What I'm attempting to do is simply copy my settings from one image with exposure and contrast both set to "0" then syncing them to the rest of my images. (700+) I like the auto tone for sahdows/highlights, and white/blacks, obviously the exposure has been the issue with auto tone. However I find when i can start with my exposure and contrast at 0 this gives me a great starting point. But it won't sync all of them.

However it's putting the import date on the files rather than the capture date.It's only started happening recently (this month) started with video (move) files being set to the date ahead from my Canon IXUS 220 HS
Now it's not importing the capture date for purposes of the file name.The files still say the correct date in Windows.

Aug 13, 2012I'm running LR3 and CS5 on a MBP Lion, and I'm working directly with RAW files. I have adjusted the images in LR and used 'edit in photoshop' to correct blemishes on some photos. I want to apply some presets at the end to render a couple of different looks (B/W and Vintage) to the final edited image. However, I find that after the file comes back from PS, it looks good, but the photo gets 'normalized' and the develop module tools get reset to zero. Hence my presets totally blow the 'edited in photoshop' image while it works just fine on the original raw.
I have also tried to work on the original image prior to any LR adjustments. Same thing, after coming back from PS, both stacked files look similar, but at the time of running the preset, the 'edited in photoshop' file gets blown out.I do not have any auto adjust settings turned on. No presets running on import/export. What am I doing wrong?
Lightroom :: 5 - How To Get All Catalog Items Correctly Named And Together
Jul 31, 2013I recently upgraded to LR5 and I imported catalog from LR4. However, all the backup files LR now creates are named LR 4 not LR 5. I created a top-level folder called "Lightroom5-Original Backups" and LR now corectly places the catalog in that folder. But the Previews and the other folder it creates are still going into my Users/MyPictures/Lightroom folder. My catalog names are "Lightroom 4 Catalog-2-2.lrcat" not LR 5 and the preview files again are still called LR4. How can I 1. rename all the backup material as LR5; and 2. get it all put in the same place, ideally my "Lightroom5-Original Backups" folder? I am scared I will somehow lose everything which would be a major proble, My LR now has over 80,000 photos and the LR catalog is nearly 1 gig.

Now as I go back, they are not loading correctly with my edits, but they were on Lightroom 4. Did something happen during the upgrade? Or is there a way to get them to register my edits?

Mar 7, 2012I have a big concern. How can all my develop presets (more than 300 now!) be converted correctly so that the changes that one of them applied to one pic in the 2010 PV are the _same_ changes the same preset applies in the 2012 PV?
I'm not talking of Adobe LR presets (those that are installed by default and that come along with the LR itself) ... I'm quite sure Adobe has made a good job keeping them coherent with those of LR 3.x . I'm talking about of the huge numbers of largely available (on the net) presets .
I'd like to know if they will be converted _CORRECTLY_ with the 2012 PV so that they will work applying the _SAME_ _VISUAL_ changes as they did in LR 3.x .
Of course I'm available to manually edit the old presets, if necessary but how? Logically, there would not need to be a new process version if all they did was put a new UI on the same controls the old process version contained. The new controls set values for new algorithms (fill light apparently the most obvious) that don't work like the old algorithms, and can't produce the same results, but I'm pretty sure that the same visual results are still reachable somehow!
And I still need the old presets working as usually they did as a steady coherent base for my retouch workflow...

Lightroom :: 4 Adjustments Won't Render When Sent To PS
Mar 19, 2012I upgraded to LS4 without a hitch, and updated my catalogs. Everything seemed to work fine for a few days. Then I tried to drag my LR catalog onto another drive and open it from there. Afer that, it all went down the tubes, regardless of which copy of the catalog I open.
Normally I'll make adjustments my my imported RAW files in LR, then hit "command-E," and edit original to PS CS5.1 (all software is current release), with LR adjustments rendered to that TIFF file. Now, I don't ever get that dialog box, but I do get another box telling me to update to Camera Raw version 7.0, which I understand is not available yet. So I hit "open anyway," and the image appears in PS but without any adjustments. Furthermore, it appears to be an opened CR2 file, rather than a TIFF. I didn't even know PS could open a CR2 file without the Camera Raw plugin dialogue launching. So, it appears I have a CR2 file opened rather than a TIFF, despite the external editor presets being correct (TIFF, 16bit, etc.).
I can render it using lightroom, but that doesn't work for me because I need to be able to not save a tiff I've created (layers of different adjustment settings I discard), I need to be able to click "don't save" but that way just automatically saves them. Also,

While importing images from camera, created a sub-folder by clicking on parent folder in the import destination panel and selecting create folder from menu. Create the new sub-folder in the pop-up dialog and chose it. The new sub-folder is not shown in the destination panel. The sub-folder is visible in finder and the permissions/ownerships of the folder are the same as the other sub-folders.
If I click on the parent folder and select create folder, the sub folder is displayed in the dialog. If I select it instead of creating another sub-folder, it is still not shown in the destination panel and another sub-folder is selected.
Lightroom :: Import Into New Created Folder?
Nov 27, 2012when i do import pictures into LR 4.2 (Win8 Pro x64, i7 2600K, 16GB), i'm having the following problem:
In import dialog window i can create a new target folder without any problems, i can import the pictures to that folder without any error.
After import process is complete, in the left pane (Folders) the pictures are in the folder i created a step before, but the folder is listed topmost in the "root" directory, not at the right place matching the directory structure - the pictures are physically stored in the correct folder. (So i can't just drag'n drop the folder to it's right place, says it's already there...)
Before this behaviour came up (worked well before), i did two changes to my system:
1. Upgrading W7>W8
2. Splitting System and Data: OS and programs are on SSD, data is on a RAID 1 MatrixRAID
My users-folder is a hard linked directory junction from SSD to MatrixRAID (mklink)
C:UsersUsername -> E:UsersUsername
(mklink /h /j C:UsersUsername E:UsersUsername)
So maybe LR can't deal with that? What can I do so that the imported folder shows up at the right place after import?
