I need to export with artboard. Illustrator automatically adds a number to my original file name. It won't even let me replace the old file. It is extremely annoying and makes flow with other programs really hard because they can't auto update, since the file name changes. When you have multiple files, you can't be manually renaming all the time.
View 4 RepliesI'm currently working on a project which involves over 16 artboards in the same document, though when i want to change the order of the artboards [for saving as a PDF] i have to move all my artboards content to new artboard, etc.etc. This is really annoying, especially when i want to insert a new artboard between some excisting ones.
So is it possible to somehow change the order of the artboards, or they numbers [basically the same]?
Is there a feature available in Adobe Illustrator CS6 or above that allows for artboards to have a number placed on them? This would work with assembling the order of artboards within the Workspace.
These numbers that appear on individual artboards would
1) correspond to the artboards numbers in the artboard pallette and
2) would also not be printable or included on any other export type (web for example), unless the user specified they'd like that option (perhaps when exporting, this option could be displayed).
If i had a file called example.jpg already saved in a folder how can i get Photoshop to save the same image again but as example(1).jpg (or similar). At the moment it will just save over the original file if i don't change the name .
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just installed Illustrator CS6 and find out that I literally have to manually checkmark "Use Artboard" when exporting to png format EVERY time I export an image.
I often use my illustrator models for animation for powerpoint presentations, so 1 artwork can easily be animated into 30 png images.
Is this a really bad joke from the developers side, or am I missing something?
PS: In CS4, you can just checkmark "Use Artboard" once every session (ie. every time you open Illustrator).
why when i export artboards there are not the size i specify but 1 px more than the one i wanted.(fil>export>artboards checked).i checked if it overlapping or not it s the same result

View 10 Replies View RelatedIs there a way in Illustrator CS6 to export as jpg with Use Artboard check to not have illustrator add the name of the artboard to your file name?
Example -
File name "redboat.ai"
Export jpg "redboat.jpg" with Use Artboard option selected
File name becomes "redboat-01.jpg"
This is not a huge problem when I only have 1 or two files but when I have to rename 100+ file names it can be a pain.
I do understand that I can batch rename in Bridge but it would be nice if I could have these files saved without the artboard name on them.
In CS6 Illustrator, when I click on fill or stroke color, the color panel opens automatically. How do I turn off this "feature"?

Clear the selected object
Fit the Artboard to the Selected Object
Save for Web and Devices
I can get it to clear and save but I'll be darned if I can get the Fit the Artboard to the Selected Object to register in the recording of the action. No matter what shortcuts I use, menues I use it just won't record it. Is this just a thing Illustrator won't do or any I just missing something?
I do those 3 things listed above ALL the time and it would be nice it I could make those 3 things into 1 action, then add that action to a hot key on my tablet.
First off, I don't mind the save as a copy feature. If I have a psd file with layers and smart objects and such, and I Save As > JPG, I don't want the jpg open, I want the psd open. I like how PS does that behavior, but I don't like how that jpg gets " copy" added to it's file name. Yes it's easy to remove, but I'm using a batch action on over 300 pictures, I don't feel like renaming 300 jpg's. Yes it's supposed to be a safety net, but I basically never work from jpg's as original's, and if for some reason I do, I set them as read only and copy the files off to a safe location, so I don't need it.
I know it's possible because my old school's computers with Photoshop CS5 never saved jpg's with copy in the file name. So, how do I stop PS CS5 from adding copy to my file names? Because I need Photoshop to not add copy to my file names on my work computer.

We’re using the “save as” function in Adobe Photoshop CS5, and it’s not automatically including the file extension at the end of the name because our file naming convention (M##.B##.F##) uses periods. This is an issue which was already discussed in the forum [URL] ..., but there didn’t appear to be a suggested fix.

I basically want to create a brush or some other automatic method for adding a specific shape (in this case a circle) at every point a long a path. It would be nice if I could easily move around points on a path without have to move all of the circles independently.
I tried creating a pattern brush where the circles were the corner elements but depending on the angle of the corner the shape would get distorted.
am having an Issue with CS6 when saving files. When saving a file using the 'Save' option (not 'Save As') the file is not staying at the size of the artboard as it should, it is however being aurtomatically cropped down to the actual artwork size. This is causing issues with the Process we work with as we need the file to stay at the artboard size.If I click 'Save As' and change the Adobe PDF Preset to 'Press Quality' then this works, however this means that every file we save(which is quite alot in a day) means we have to go through the 'Save As' option and manually change each save.why this has suddenly started to happen with our Illustrators and do you know how to fix this so that it stays at the Artboard size when 'Save' is used?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a drawing that draws from a .dxf template, this drawing is for a piece that travels along on a basket. Often times there's more than one "traveler" so in order for me to differentiate each traveler I added an "XX of XX" on the template, the XX's referring to the traveler number and the total travelers (i.e. 01 of 03).
Before I print out the sheet I have to replace the XX's with the real numbers then I can print it, so if theres 45 travelers i have manually click each time and then type the number in, 01 of 45, 02 of 45, 03 of 45... 45 of 45. Is there a way I can get this process automated like where I'm asked how many sheets I need then it automatically populates the sheet?
I am playing with the book module and I love it. Hwever, I wonder whether there is a possibility to automatically create captions that show the date of the creation of a picture. More generally any subset of the Exif data would be welcome. This is possible for slideshows, but I could not figure out how to do this with book pages.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I record a save for web action that exports my artboard in 3 file sizes. 100%, 200% and 400% it works for the first few files.
Then suddenly after a while the first export changes its width and height from 100% to 111%, but not just 111% width and height equally. No it pulls it out of proportion too.
When I manually enter 100% again it all pops back to the correct aspect ration.The 200% and 400% still behave as expected.
If I rerecord it it starts working again. But that defeats the purpose.
Sometimes Photoshop automatically change my font sizes to uneven numbers. For instance 12 pt changes to 11,98 pt. Why and what could be done to avoid this? Also XY positions of objects in Illustrator get changed to sligtly different numbers like 9,98 px.

go to add a text block to an image, a new layer is created. I want to be able to manually create layers and simply click on the layer I want to work under and then do so. I want to shut off this automatic creation of layers. If I don't, I'll have about 200 superfluous ones.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn our workflow, we have a few users who are doing design work on Windows installations of IinDesign CS6 (2 in WIndows 7 and 2 in Windows 8). On all four systems, we have noticed that when we open files from packaged folders that contain the Document Fonts folder, that InDesign slows to an excrutiating crawl, which makes working on the document near impossible. We've narrowed down this behavior to the AdobeFnt14.lst file that seems to be a result of InDesign opening the file using the fonts in that folder without being told to. Deleting that file will temporarily fix the problem, but InDesign recreates it when you open the corresponding document and then you have to delete it again.
We use Universal Type Cient for our font manager, but as far as I know, we didn't install any font auto activation plugins.
Other than deleting the font folder, we've not been able to figure out how to stop ID from trying to automatically load the fonts. We'd love to just turn that "feature" off so that we don't have the hassle. I'd rather have fonts missing and turn them on using our font manager, than have ID slow to an impossible crawl whenever we open archived files. How to stop ID from automatically loading fonts from a document fonts folder?
it took some effort, and i dont remember all of what i did, but i finally got bridge to stop making auto adjustments on my raw images--though it still does if i zoom in when im full screened.
regardless, when i open a raw image in photoshop, it makes auto adjustments (and they are always hooorriblee).
-all the boxes under default settings are unchecked
- i select 'as shot' for white balance,
and so on; but without fail, every time it makes these ugly over saturated over contrasty or otherwise hideous versions of my images.
im not buying the whole 'digital negative' deal. i can see a full view images of my nondestroyed raw image, and seriously there needs to be a point to all the work i do on set to to get the right light and colors, and so on... im about to reinstall photoshop.
if i dedicate a lot of time, effort, and frustration, i can get them close to what they were, but its so impractical and frustrated to input this additional time for work.
