go to add a text block to an image, a new layer is created. I want to be able to manually create layers and simply click on the layer I want to work under and then do so. I want to shut off this automatic creation of layers. If I don't, I'll have about 200 superfluous ones.
View 2 Repliesit took some effort, and i dont remember all of what i did, but i finally got bridge to stop making auto adjustments on my raw images--though it still does if i zoom in when im full screened.
regardless, when i open a raw image in photoshop, it makes auto adjustments (and they are always hooorriblee).
-all the boxes under default settings are unchecked
- i select 'as shot' for white balance,
and so on; but without fail, every time it makes these ugly over saturated over contrasty or otherwise hideous versions of my images.
im not buying the whole 'digital negative' deal. i can see a full view images of my nondestroyed raw image, and seriously there needs to be a point to all the work i do on set to to get the right light and colors, and so on... im about to reinstall photoshop.
if i dedicate a lot of time, effort, and frustration, i can get them close to what they were, but its so impractical and frustrated to input this additional time for work.
For no reason that I can think of, When I click on a single image in Bridge to preview or to try and select multiple images to load as layers or merge to HDR, the first image clicked opens in ACR. How can i Stop this?

Previously when I clicked "write keyword tag and properties info to photo" it seemed to just do that. Since the upgrade to mountain lion when I click 'write keyword tag and properties info to photo" it also changes the date the photo was created to the date the info was written to the photo .
How I can get it to write the keyword info *without* changing the date the photo was created?
I must have clicked something or inadvertantly pressed a keyboard shortcut or something because a couple of weeks ago, the sub-tools on the tool palette started popping up without me having to hold down the mouse button for a second. Now when I click a tool (the rectangular marqee tool for example), the hidden tools (eliptical marqee, single row etc.).
I'm using PS CS5 on Windows 7.
I want myself to decide what and when something shall be added to organizer.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIn our workflow, we have a few users who are doing design work on Windows installations of IinDesign CS6 (2 in WIndows 7 and 2 in Windows 8). On all four systems, we have noticed that when we open files from packaged folders that contain the Document Fonts folder, that InDesign slows to an excrutiating crawl, which makes working on the document near impossible. We've narrowed down this behavior to the AdobeFnt14.lst file that seems to be a result of InDesign opening the file using the fonts in that folder without being told to. Deleting that file will temporarily fix the problem, but InDesign recreates it when you open the corresponding document and then you have to delete it again.
We use Universal Type Cient for our font manager, but as far as I know, we didn't install any font auto activation plugins.
Other than deleting the font folder, we've not been able to figure out how to stop ID from trying to automatically load the fonts. We'd love to just turn that "feature" off so that we don't have the hassle. I'd rather have fonts missing and turn them on using our font manager, than have ID slow to an impossible crawl whenever we open archived files. How to stop ID from automatically loading fonts from a document fonts folder?
When saving tiff files in CS4, how can I have file names automatically created with ".tif" extension. Currently they are saved as non specific file types unless I include, or later add, ".tif" every time.

When I used LR2, I saved these files only if I choose to. I always convert my files to jpg after I'm done editing in PS and don't need these huge files hanging around.

Example: If you start with a circle drawn to your set 3 point UCS the quadrants are in line with the X & Y but as soon as you extrude the circle into a cylinder the UCS turns the quadrants to world, I want the quadrants to stay in the same place as my 3 point UCS position.
Not sure if it's just a system variable that need changing.
I need to export with artboard. Illustrator automatically adds a number to my original file name. It won't even let me replace the old file. It is extremely annoying and makes flow with other programs really hard because they can't auto update, since the file name changes. When you have multiple files, you can't be manually renaming all the time.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have the River Analysis tools installed for C3D 2014 and any time I open a drawing, a reach is automatically created in the file. This is really annoying because it puts it down at the coordinates (0,-500) which pretty much makes zoom extents a useless command now.
Is this as designed? If it is as designed, how to turn it off?
I was retouching a painting earlier and i could not get every detail because my adjustment layers stopped allowing me to paint on the mask.
I switched from ps v13 and v12 and niether would allow me to paint on the mask. All of the correction i did were on adjustment layers. I would add an adjustment layer and tweak it then invert the mask and then paint with the brush. Then i would merge layers. After about 4 merges it stop allowing the painting on the mask.
Is there any way to stop Photoshop from amending copied layers with "copy", "copy 2", "copy 57", etc.?

Normally, when I paste an image from an outside source or draw a shape, create text, etc,... it creates a seperate layer. It does not do that on this computer. I don't know what settings ...
Is there a way to change the functionality of the layers so that when a new layer is created or a layer is duplicated that it automatically is created below the selected layer? I always organize my files with elements at the top of the document at the top of the layers panel and have them in decending order (unless there is a reason for an object to be above another) so that it is easier to navigate the page. Right now this means I spend a lot of time moving layers up and down which gets rather annoying. I believe I saw at one point that there is a key command for duplicating a layer below the existing one, but I can't remember how anymore. ability to make a blanket change in preferences.

Layers 2 thru 200 are images that need to be merged with the base layer individually and then saved as individual files. We are now turning layer 2 on and saving, turning layer 2 off, turning on layer 3 then saving, etc. Hoping to find an easier and quicker method.
I am creating a typographic advertisement and I created the text layers in AI. I imported these files as raster layers and they appear clear within the pre-compositions of AE. The problem that I run into is when I exit the pre-comp and view the final composition the nested layers become pixelated. The layers are vector layers and I have tried everything that I can to correct the problem.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a function or script that lets you automaticly apply materials to layers by name? Lets say I import a DWG that has 3 layers. Layer 1, 2 and 3 but no materials. I have 3 materials in my scean that are called 1,2 and 3. Is it possible to have all the objects in layer 1 to get material 1 applyed, all objects on layer 2 get material 2 and so on without manualy applying to each layer. For example if I have 100 layers and a 100 materials it would be a hastle and take long. I'm thinking there might be a script or function for this. I have looked but not found one.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI went to change the annotative scale while working on a drawing and LT 2011 crashed. When I recovered the drawing there are now over a 1000 new layers, I assume related to the annotative scales I had used.
What do I do with this mess? I am scared to start working on this drawing because I don't want all these new layers. I thought a central point of annotative scales was to simplify layer management. What happens when it blows up on you?
Update: I found that I can purge these layers out and just did that. I will give another update if things get weird again.
i have created a presentation where i have frozen some layers in the object field. but later on when i create new layers of course they appear in this presentation until i freeze them. is there a clue to lock the presentation at a state to avoid updating the presentation by freezing manually each new layer .

I have to switch layers quite often and not want to select objects from any layer other then current layer. but for this i have to first freeze the previous layer and then unfreeze the current layer and so on.
I know that for layers ON/OFF in current open dwg file, I should use:

but I have more than 150 dwg file and I should open all of dwgs one by one and setting ON/OFF for STAMP layer for every drawing and it takes so much time!

Is there a way in AutoCAD 2013 to have it automatically change to a certain layer when you do common tasks. I am wondering if there is a system variable, or a routine that I could automatically load when I start AutoCAD to do this. It would also be nice that the layer would then go back to the original layer that was being used prior to the command. What are my options for doing this.
For instance when I load an xref I would like it to go on the layer; A-XREF. When I insert a block I would like it to go on the layer; 0, when I create a new dimension I would like it to go on the A-DIMS layer, when I create a hatch it would set to the layer A-WALL-PATT, when I add a leader with text it would go to A-ANNO-NOTE, etc..
