Photoshop Elements :: Can PSE10 Automatically Stack Same Named Files
Jul 29, 2012 take jpg + RAW pics with my DSLR, for the most part the jpgs come out fine but now and again I like to tinker with the RAW's. So I like to keep both incase I'm inclined to tinker in the future.

To keep my photo catalogue looking neat and tidy I stack the jpg and RAW so only the single image shows. I can obviously select both images and the select stack, or I can select a whole load of images and select auto stack which then suggests stacks based on photo likeness. This is OK sometimes, but often many images are of the same subject and I don't want 10 stacked, just the 2 same files in jpg + RAW. Is there a way to automatically stack the same file number jpg + RAW?

Jun 15, 2012Every time I open a RAW file into Photoshop CS5Â from LR3, it automatically creates and saves a PSD or TIFF file. Is there a way to stop lightroom from doing this? When I used LR2, I saved these files only if I choose to. I always convert my files to jpg after I'm done editing in PS and don't need these huge files hanging around.

Photoshop Elements :: PSE10 On Mac Can't Read Catalog Files
Mar 13, 2014I have Photoshop Elements 10 on my Mac and my PC. I have several catalogs on an external harddrive with older photos. I have tried to get my Elements on my Mac to read those catologs. However, it gives me a message that the catologs are in a older format and need to be upgraded or damaged and need to be repaired. I ran the repair utiity on the catologs using Elements on my PC and it found nothing wrong. My PC version can open the files without any issues. Both versions of Elements are the exact same. I installed them both the same day from the same CD set (Elements 10 came with both PC and Mac versions).

Feb 12, 2014I have upgraded my Elements 9 to Elements 12. I used to be able to open a raw file directly into the raw editor in Elements 9. With Elements 12 I click to open the raw file with Elements 12 but Elements opens into the basic editor with no picture opening. I then have to select Open Camera Raw from the file menu and select the photo again. The photo then opens. Is there a setting i can change so that elements 12 opens directly into the raw editor?

regardless, when i open a raw image in photoshop, it makes auto adjustments (and they are always hooorriblee).
-all the boxes under default settings are unchecked
- i select 'as shot' for white balance,
and so on; but without fail, every time it makes these ugly over saturated over contrasty or otherwise hideous versions of my images.

im not buying the whole 'digital negative' deal. i can see a full view images of my nondestroyed raw image, and seriously there needs to be a point to all the work i do on set to to get the right light and colors, and so on... im about to reinstall photoshop.

if i dedicate a lot of time, effort, and frustration, i can get them close to what they were, but its so impractical and frustrated to input this additional time for work.

Feb 13, 2013I must have clicked something or inadvertantly pressed a keyboard shortcut or something because a couple of weeks ago, the sub-tools on the tool palette started popping up without me having to hold down the mouse button for a second. Now when I click a tool (the rectangular marqee tool for example), the hidden tools (eliptical marqee, single row etc.).

Nov 5, 2013I have just upgraded to Elements 12 from version 6 and find that if I select a file in the organizer, select "Edit with Photoshop Elements editor", carry out the editing and save the file with the boxes for "include in elements organizer" and "Save in Version Set with original" checked the edited photo is not automatically included in the organizer nor stacked. On returning to the Organizer it tells me that a new photo has been found in the watched folders and I have to import it and stack it manually.

Aug 2, 2013In our workflow, we have a few users who are doing design work on Windows installations of IinDesign CS6 (2 in WIndows 7 and 2 in Windows 8). On all four systems, we have noticed that when we open files from packaged folders that contain the Document Fonts folder, that InDesign slows to an excrutiating crawl, which makes working on the document near impossible. We've narrowed down this behavior to the AdobeFnt14.lst file that seems to be a result of InDesign opening the file using the fonts in that folder without being told to. Deleting that file will temporarily fix the problem, but InDesign recreates it when you open the corresponding document and then you have to delete it again.

We use Universal Type Cient for our font manager, but as far as I know, we didn't install any font auto activation plugins.

Other than deleting the font folder, we've not been able to figure out how to stop ID from trying to automatically load the fonts. We'd love to just turn that "feature" off so that we don't have the hassle. I'd rather have fonts missing and turn them on using our font manager, than have ID slow to an impossible crawl whenever we open archived files. How to stop ID from automatically loading fonts from a document fonts folder?
Photoshop Elements :: Files Not Opening In 11?
Oct 27, 2012Upgraded to PSE 11. Now when I click on a file, PSE starts but does not load the file. This was working fine in PSE 6-10. The file association in Windows 7 (now too with Windows 8) is still there for all picture file types but they won't open when I click on them. I can open them once I'm in PSE just fine. I uninsalled and reinstalled PSE and still nothing.

Sep 2, 2012My photos are printing out much darker than what is on the monitor display. I have calibrated the monitor and changed the color profile, color management & color space numerous times and they I cannot see any difference in the prints. I've changed the printer settings, still too dark. I have edited the photos and brightened them, still much darker than on the display. I'm using Photoshop Elements 10 with a new monitor and computer. My old computer and Adobe Photoshop CS2 program did not have this problem.
