Lightroom :: Stop LR From Automatically Creating TIFF Or PSD Files / When Opening In PS
Jun 15, 2012
Every time I open a RAW file into Photoshop CS5 from LR3, it automatically creates and saves a PSD or TIFF file. Is there a way to stop lightroom from doing this? When I used LR2, I saved these files only if I choose to. I always convert my files to jpg after I'm done editing in PS and don't need these huge files hanging around.
For no reason that I can think of, When I click on a single image in Bridge to preview or to try and select multiple images to load as layers or merge to HDR, the first image clicked opens in ACR. How can i Stop this?
I am trying to automatically slice a very large TIFF file (800 MB) into 28 equally-sized rectangles using Actions (it is a scanned image of 28 scientific slides and reducing the resolution is not an option). My goal is to start with the TIFF file and end up with a folder that contains 28 separate files. I'll do this on many such TIFF files, so it needs to be coded into an action.
So far I have an action that creates guides in a grid pattern and then converts the guides to 28 individual rectangular user slices that together cover the entire screen. Unfortunately the file is far too large to use with the "Save for Web & Devices" tool and I also can't export to TIFF from that tool. So I made an action that individually selects each slice (using the slice select tool), copies it, creates a new file, pastes the image, saves it as a flattened, non-compressed TIFF into a new folder, then closes the file. When I try to run this I get the following error:
The command "Select" is not currently available
-- Continue -- -- Stop --
If I press Continue the action is not carried out. If I press Stop and select the slice manually there is no problem (but then my action will not be fully automated). The image is in 8-bit RGB mode, and I've also tried converting the locked Background layer into a standard layer. I don't see any reason why the select command shouldn't be available! There is only one layer and there are user slices available for selection. I tried separating the slicing and select/import jobs into 2 different actions but it still didn't work.
Photoshop CS 5.1 Extended, v. 12.1 x64 - I have installed the recent update Windows 7 64-bit 6 GB RAM
Occasionally my TIFF files open in ACR instead of opening directly into Photoshop. It doesn't happen with every file. Why would this happen? How do I prevent it?
I have a D3000 and PSE9 and at one time my NEF files would open with the raw dialog box. Now they only open in the normal editor. How do I get my raw dialog back?
Problems opening tif files in Adobe Photoshop CS6. Lately I've been getting an error message: 'Photoshop does not recognize this kind of file' whenever I try to open a tif file. I've tried everything -- doing a complete purge and reinstall of CS6 and running all the latest available updates but with no success. Photoshop will not open any tif files! Am using iMac (Intel), OSX 10.8.2!
I have some old Photoshop files, tif, psd, jpg, etc. on a CD. When I try to open them, I get an error-108 and the file disappears from the finder. I have tried to copy to the hard drive, but I get an operation cant be completed, one or more items cant be found error-43.
When opening existing tiff files in Photoshop 6 they are opening very tiny in top left corner(memory can be anything from 1 mb up to 1 gb. I have to magnify each one seperately right up to see them. Never had this problem in CS 4, tried everything in preferences, view etc etc
When I import pictures from a memory card LR4.2 creates a new folder every day in the backup location.
Is there any way to stop this? I want all of the pictures to be copied to the directory I chose on the main and backup drives, it's a pain going to the backup and moving my pictures.
For some reason it has been doing this every since I edited photos from my external. I have deleted those photos edited in LR3 and it still opens up. I am completely new to using LR.
I used to be able to just open any image and my copyright info would be inserted into the file data. I guess it was a droplet, "when the file is opened or created then add file info from a xmp file". I still have the xmp file with all the data in but i am unsure how to implement it being automatically opened and added to the file when i create a new one? I thought i could handle it, i assume its a droplet of some sort.
I have noticed when I go to open a file there is also a recover file. Almost every file I have worked on in the last two weeks has a recover file. This causes problems if I can’t see the entire file name and accidentally start working with the recover file.
does AutoCAD 2012 automatically create recover files? I don't have unexpected shutdowns, I have never been asked to recover or create a recover file.
When I open a newly imported RAW for the first time my computer thinks for about a second and transforms the colours. On some picutres it can hardly be seen, but on others the chance is huge and I have not found a way to bring it back to more or less the colours of the neighbouring Jpegs. It also seems to be irreversible within Lightroom. I hope this is not normal, as the colours usually look much less pleasant after the transformation.
- I work with LR 4.4
- I have already disactivated the automatic Levels in the import settings
- I shoot RAW with a Pentax K-7, having set the RAW in Adobe standards
I'm using Lightroom 5, and was wondering if there's a quick way to display all items in a stack in Survey View.Expanding the stackSelecting all items in the stack.Switching to survey view.I was wondering if there was a quick way to click on the stack and get it to open in Survey View.
Failing that I was wondering if I could automatically select all the items in a stack.
i have tried installing and reinstalling twice and it has not fixed my problem. have so many uses for photshop on a daily basis and this just stops them. I have the newest update for Photoshop CC the photoshop i am using it also does not work with he 64 bit or the normal version.
I have Win 7 and my PS CS 6 worked fine for months but now has stopped opening any files or creating new ones. Instead it just freezes without any errors warnings. I do have CS5 PS still installed and it still works fine. All other CS6 programs work fine also. I tried uninstalling and reinstalled and I still got the same problem.
Following previous LR upgrades (3.2, 3.3, 3.4, 3.5 and 3.6), old files were automatically removed from the Program Files folder. However, I just upgrades from 3.6 to 4.0 and notice that the old files are still on my hard drive in the 3.6 folder. Do I need to keep these files or can I UNINSTALL LR 3.6?
In following Julieanne's Adobe TV topic here -> http:[url].....-creating-32bit-hdr-images-in-lr-41/ a problem arises when trying to save from Photoshop CS 6. According to Julieanne you hit ctrl-s so that PS saves the HDR image and then it should show up in Lightroom. What I have found is that hitting crtrl-s saves it as a PSD file which does automatically show up in Lightroom, however Lightroom but can't read it. If I do a save-as, and select TIFF as the extension Lightroom will not automatically see the TIFF file. I have to synchronize the folder in order to have Lightroom import it.
Why would Lightroom automatically see a PSD file (that is of no use) and not see the TIFF file?
Is there a setting in PS that will change the preferences to save as a TIFF instead of a PSD file?
When trying to export RAW files to TIF files I get following Warning message:
Unable to Export:
An internal error has occured: Win32 API error 2 ("The system cannot find the file specified.") when calling ShellExecuteExW from AgWorkspace.shellExecute.
This happpens in LR 4 and I never had this problem in previuos version.
In my Lightroom catalogue, I often need to open a raw (dng) file in Photoshop, work on it there and save the result as a jpeg. The jpeg is then sent to a client after which I have no further use for it, so normally I would delete it. However I find that every time I 'save as' in Photoshop, Lightroom imports that file into its database. The only exception is if I choose 'save for web' in Photoshop. I'm told that this behaviour is wrong - that LR shouldn't automatically import these images.
I must have accidentally ticked something because all of a sudden Lightroom 4.3 has started to import an original filename.tif file and also copy it to filename -2.tif, doubling up each file. What do I have do to change to stop this?
how to migrate my Aperture Library into Lightroom 5.3. Therefore I use a trial version of Lightroom and Aperture 3.5.1 on OS X 10.9.1.
To keep my edits on the raw files, I exported them into tiff files and then imported them into Lightroom.
Unfortunately all the tiffs appear to bright in Lightroom. In the screenshot you can see preview showing the tiff as it would appear in Aperture and the much brighter representation in Lightroom.
How do I stop LR4 from organizing imported files into a folder by date. Most times when I import files I have already created a folder and sub-folder structure tyat I want to use. I then right click the desired folder and choose import into this folder option. Why does LR4 insist on organizing my already selected destination into a sub-folder with a date by default?
I am now shooting both digital and analog. When processing RAW files coming from my digital cameras, I don't have any problem with LR. But I am also scanning negative films and handling the resulting TIFF files in Lightroom. Since I have started this new workflow, I can be sure that Lightroom will crash at least once during a session. This can happen at any time when I'm in the Development module.
I'm running an Intel iCore 7 2600 PC under Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit with 8GB of memory and plenty of disk space.
