Sep 20, 2011I don't remember ever using this checkbox on the Publish dialog box but today i want to and i can't figure out how to make it work. The help file ~seems~ to say that if i select this, the contents of all open documents (layouts and/or model space) are automatically loaded.... but they don't.
I know i can pick the Add Sheets button and manually select all the drawings i have open but doesn't that defeat the purpose of this checkbox?

May 17, 2013I'm a bit confused on the style library system built into Inventor - it isn't very intuitive.
I'd like to create my tube and pipe styles as well as sheet metal styles and have to never create them again - regardless of the project/workspace. Is this something that can be saved in the standard part/assembly template files? If so, how?
I'm tired of creating styles every time I start a new document - it is a waste of a lot of time! And I'd like to avoid having to import settings on every document.

(this is my workaround)
however since i add images , I sometime forget to add those image names to the batch file, and they do not load.
so is there a way to add to paint.net the option to automatically load upon start the " last open images"

InDesign :: How To Stop ID From Trying To Automatically Load The Fonts
Aug 2, 2013In our workflow, we have a few users who are doing design work on Windows installations of IinDesign CS6 (2 in WIndows 7 and 2 in Windows 8). On all four systems, we have noticed that when we open files from packaged folders that contain the Document Fonts folder, that InDesign slows to an excrutiating crawl, which makes working on the document near impossible. We've narrowed down this behavior to the AdobeFnt14.lst file that seems to be a result of InDesign opening the file using the fonts in that folder without being told to. Deleting that file will temporarily fix the problem, but InDesign recreates it when you open the corresponding document and then you have to delete it again.
We use Universal Type Cient for our font manager, but as far as I know, we didn't install any font auto activation plugins.
Other than deleting the font folder, we've not been able to figure out how to stop ID from trying to automatically load the fonts. We'd love to just turn that "feature" off so that we don't have the hassle. I'd rather have fonts missing and turn them on using our font manager, than have ID slow to an impossible crawl whenever we open archived files. How to stop ID from automatically loading fonts from a document fonts folder?

Oct 22, 2010We have AutoCAD Architecture 2011. By default, our profile does not load the AEC commands. I am looking for a way to enable them in session. Short of this I am looking for what controls them.
We have a custom CUI that loads, it was created from the default AutoCAD one. If I switch to the AutoCAD Architecture profile while in AutoCAD the AEC commands do not become active. If I launch AutoCAD from a shortcut that specifies AutoCAD Architecture profile then the AEC commands do load. I have tried loading the AECARCHXOE cui as a partial CUI in our custom CUI but that does not load the ARC commands (either in session or as a new session)
what controls weather the AEC commands load?

Jun 11, 2013When I create a model space view; then drag it on the sheet; shouldn't they be linked? I mean if I go into the View drawing, move the drawing in question, then update the model space view, shouldn't that update the sheet view automatically? Theoretically speaking of course; we are talking AutoCad.

Aug 9, 2013I have had this complaint for a while internally however whenever Autocad Architecture saves while using a fully functional 3d architure model it hangs when it saves.
There are no errors discovered via audit, the file has been purged, the file has annotative scaled items, there are 3 x-refs & we are working off the server.The file generally has a low amount of layers and the xreferences have also been audited and purged.
in the base file - When Autocad Saves automatically or manually I get a 30 second delay. The task manager only shows one core on the I5 being used more than the others (not fully but spikes up and down). However when I want to go crazy and save multiple times the other cores pick up accordingly (obviously). Cpu usage only shows 27% usage at it s peak (overall).
The amount of ram used remains unchanged in both scenarios.
The network indicates 3-12% usage.
In the xref of the base file (generally the sheet file which has only the base file (with all the attached xreferences) and a title block with a low res image - The model craps out for 2 minutes while it saves same task manager results as well.
I have clean xreferences with no looping which the base file houses.
I'm trying to elimitnate or upgrade (computer) whatever is the issue.
note this has also occured with standard linework files (versus using 3d autcad architure elements)

May 23, 2012Is there a way in AutoCAD 2013 to have it automatically change to a certain layer when you do common tasks. I am wondering if there is a system variable, or a routine that I could automatically load when I start AutoCAD to do this. It would also be nice that the layer would then go back to the original layer that was being used prior to the command. What are my options for doing this.
For instance when I load an xref I would like it to go on the layer; A-XREF. When I insert a block I would like it to go on the layer; 0, when I create a new dimension I would like it to go on the A-DIMS layer, when I create a hatch it would set to the layer A-WALL-PATT, when I add a leader with text it would go to A-ANNO-NOTE, etc..

Oct 10, 2007Is there a way to automatically generate layers based on color? I just downloaded a CAD object that's only got 1 layer but several different colored lines. It would be extremely painstaking if I had to take each and every line and place it on a different layer. It would be much easier if I could tell AutoCAD 2006 to simply split the object up by color and place each one on a different layer.

Apr 18, 2011Is there a function or script that lets you automaticly apply materials to layers by name? Lets say I import a DWG that has 3 layers. Layer 1, 2 and 3 but no materials. I have 3 materials in my scean that are called 1,2 and 3. Is it possible to have all the objects in layer 1 to get material 1 applyed, all objects on layer 2 get material 2 and so on without manualy applying to each layer. For example if I have 100 layers and a 100 materials it would be a hastle and take long. I'm thinking there might be a script or function for this. I have looked but not found one.
