I have a number of dwg-drawings generated from layers in MapInfo. I need to load these drawings into separate layers to get the same layer structure as I had in Mapinfo. How do I do?
View 5 RepliesI had a problem where AutoCAD would not load a drawing - it kept crashing. However, after selecting "F2" and reviewing the display window - I received the following message:
Unhandled exception has occurred in a component in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue.
Invalid URI: The format of the URI could not be determined.

It was only after the "Continue" option was present that I could open the drawing.
Basically I've been asked to compile a series of my best work into a collection that our sales guys can take with them as an example of the service we provide to our customers. I'm trying to figure out the easiest way, because I have a pretty big library of 3D drawings.
When I do an actual project, I toss everything into a single .dwg and just print from paper space. I have an AutoLISP script that takes all the paper space layouts and prints them to a single .pdf file with a specific name relative to the project with the current plot time and date.
I could just create a new file Library.dwg and copy/paste all of my past work into it, then make a ton of paper space layouts, but the end result would be gigantic. I'm still running AutoCAD 2013 on a crappy laptop because I won't get the budget for a real rig until the end of the month.
One thought I had was that maybe there's some way to make a viewport in paper space that directs to a model space of an external .dwg, but all of my searches turned up nothing. In fact, now that I think about it, it's driving me nuts that it isn't a feature already. Making a paper space viewport that points to an external .dwg would make my life significantly easier.
One reason I don't want to just go back and print the original pages as they exist is that I want to use the same title block template for all drawings, and mine has evolved over time. I also want to add notes to each page, and I don't want to modify the old drawings at all.
For some reason my co-worker has a problem opening my dwgs. When he opens them, he is seeing some layers fade out---only on the Layout's, not the Model. Everything from my Titleblock, to the actual Drawing inside the viewport.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just installed 2012 with the Inventor pro suite. when I tried to open multiple dwg's it locked up on certain dwg's and I got the error " no cavas click on new canvas". I read an existing post that said
"I went into the CUI, current workspace, removed the Sketchbook Designer from showing in the Ribbon"
I could not find this in my cui current workspace and is this the best solution?

I am looking for a lisp that can run a block replace on multiple drawings.
Something similar the the express tools block replace I suppose, just able to process many drawings at once.
I'm trying to change attributed approval stamps to attributed inter squad stamps and don't want to have to go through all 150 drawings and do it myself.
Is it possible to use a load statement in a profile to automatically load/unload a cuix?

Sure, there might be more than one way to achieve this (like controlling the “plot” feature on the “layer properties manager” but what I’m looking for is an automated way to print all the 15 layers separately in one go.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThere are some layers in my drawing that won't delete in the layers properties manager. I don't know why. It gives me 4 possible reasons:
- It might be layer 0 or a Defpoint (whatever that is).
- It is the current layer
- It is an Xref dependent layer
- It is a layer containing objects
But none of these, to my knowledge, apply. There could be things on the layer that I'm just not seeing, but I've looked thoroughly. I even zoomed out to the extents, highlighted the whole area, and clicked the erase tool, but it still won't go away. I got the file from another computer, so it might be an Xref dependent layer and the Xref'ed files just didn't come with it. How would I be able to tell - and how could I remove the Xref dependency?
Other than that, is there any other reason a layer won't delete? Can I force it to delete?
We use AutoCad to name our dxf files for our Burn Table and whenever we get a new part it is a repetitive task to input layers and common text. So what I am curious is can AutoCAD input the layers and text automatically using a Macro?
I want the Macro to put in 6 layers and choose the layer color and title then input text boxes with word in 3 different layers. There will be about a total of 10 different text boxes with text already put in the boxes by the Macro.
So I was working in AutoCAD at work and this Error Message showed up. I don't know how to load my drawing because everytime this error message comes up AutoCAD shuts down.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am currently updating and coming up with a better system for are plant layout file for AutoCAD. When this project is complete, it will be set up so if someone needs to make a change they can just make a copy of the X-Ref file for the area they will be updating and hand it back in when there done. I will review the updated X-Ref then switch out the old X-Ref file for the updated one.
Problem: the problem I am having is when I am in the master drawing that contains all the X-Ref files, the layers list becomes enormous. There are about 30 to 40 different X-Ref files with 15 layers each. Those 15 layers contain the exact same information but you have to edit them individually.
Question: Is there a way to make the 15 layers in the master effect the corresponding layer in all the X-ref files? For instance, you hide the “Machines” layer in the master and it hides the “Machines” layer in all the X-ref.
Side Note: If you were going to make the suggestion “use Xbind” I’ve tried it and it doesn’t work well because “Xbind” creates a new layer you have to assign to things instead of making the layers relate to one another.

I work at a place where we use autocad, everywhere... And I'm in IT and i've been struggling with this for a day now. I got 2009/2011 to work, but when i try to get 2010 to work, it just doesnt want to cooperate. Now when i used to start it up a proxy graphics thing would pop up, and i figured out how to turn that off, but then no ribbon loads.
So i go to the command line and type in ribbon, and i get an error:

I have installed AutoCAD (Map 3D 2012) onto a users machine. When I run the software, I get a message box appear saying it cant load the profile...
I went into the registry and noticed that his registry is missing a lot of keys for Map 3D (attached)
I have attached a copy of my registry for comparison.
What would typically cause this? I have tried to delete the registry entry and let it re-configure, but i get all sorts of errors (Internal Error 2738).
I should probably mention that I am using a profile switch in the shortcut.

and until now it didn't work for me.

I have two boxes here where something seems to create a acfusion.cuix, an aliasconcept.cuix and a acetmain.cuix. If I unload them and restart, I dont get the error but the have been created. Could a startup lisp be creating these? I havent done anything with lisp files. the target in the shortcut doesnt seem to be pointing to a lisp file.
We dont need these cuix files how can I stop them from being created on start up?

We have several tool palettes that I use all the time. And every time I close down AutoCAD and open it back up, all the palettes load back up in the middle of my left monitor (dual monitor set up). I typically have my AutoCAD window open on the left monitor, and my palettes on the right monitor.
I have tried to save my profile, lock all Toolbar/Palette positions.....and nothing has any affect. My palettes always load in the middle of my left monitor.
I tried loading the latest graphics drivers, no affect.
I bought Sketchbook Pro a few months ago for my Android 10.1 tablet, and all was well.
Recently, I updated the tablet firmware to 4.0.4 - I don't know if that's relevant.
A few days ago I noticed that Sketchbook Pro would not load sketches form the gallery. It would pasue for maybe 10 seconds then the app would go away. No screen messages.
Sketchbook Express behaves in the same way.
UIninstalling Skewthbook Pro, renaming trhe autodesk folder, rebootnig the tablet, then re-installing does not renmove the problem, so this is something which survives all of that. Perhaps a file associations problem?
I installed apps to view the system logs, and I cam see:

[date & time] D/Sketchbook(1170) or other 4-digit numbers
In other crashes, I see a NullPointerException from Java.
If I double-tap a sketch in the gallery, then I enter the gallery browse mode OK and can flick through the sketches.
If I upload the TIFFs to my PC< they open OK.
By manually deleting some TIFFs I did get the app to open a sketch of two briefly, but that stopped working within a minute or so, and has not worked since.
I have written to the support email given in the Market but been ignored by Autodesk.
etransmit is not working, error says "Failed to load transmittal component: incorrect registry entry." ... googling this error, as enjoyable as it is, leads nowhere other than to "repair/reinstall Autocad" which I would do if I COULD FIND MY INSTALLATION DISK! which I cannot ...
is there any other command or way to achieve the same end result as the command etransmit? a clue as to why this is happening is that i had to uninstall civil 3d 2012 from this machine and that's when this started ...
