View 3 RepliesI am trying to make a custom palette for structural members. "Then, temporarily deactivate the link and change the dimension properties of the tool to 4 x 4 x 4 meters. Next, copy the tool back to the Content Browser. The Content Browser catalog is updated with the new tool properties. Finally, reactivate the link from the Content Browser tool to the AutoCAD Architecture palette."
View 5 Replies View RelatedWe've just started using ACA 2012 and have noticed when importing files created in ACA 2009 that structural members do not display properly. We use the structural column or beam to represent a rainwater or soil pipe and are expecting to see a cut through at the cut plane and nothing else however we are getting a couple of lines that represent the crank in the pipe and I cannot turn them off. I'm sure that a setting has been introduced somewhere however after two weeks of looking I am still in the dark.
I've attached a file created in ACA 2009 that displays the problem in ACA 2012
Creating a tag to automatically label structural beams? I am trying to label a beam with its style name and bottom of beam elevation but I am not having any luck.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a friend that is using AutoCad Mechanical which comes with blocks of structural members to insert, she is using Cad 2011. In one drawing if she inserts a channel and say the channel is 8" long, it inserts correctly but in other drawings if she goes to insert the same channel, it insert at 16'-0". Why?????
View 4 Replies View RelatedI created a structural member of Pro-Panel II and placed it like a column. This works great, except when I need to trim the excess off at the end of a wall. I tried using a body modifies and it works in model view, but it doesn't in plan view.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've attached a structural member. Is it possible to tag each end individually and have ACA report if it's the high end or low end of the structural member?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThere I have an issue trying to show the text I include on a structure steel members. On model space you can see and print that info. But if I go to paper space and put the drawing on a view port the text disappears? See attached. Just jump from model to work (paper space) and you will see what I am talking about.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI need to convert a polyline to a structural element and put it on a tool palatte. I'm pretty sure I got it into the Design Manager, now I need to make it a structural element. I used to know how to do it in Acad 9, but now in Acad 12 I forgot,
View 1 Replies View RelatedI had created a structural member using the structural member wizard. I used many instances of the member in my drawing. However, the thickness of the member needs to be modified. Is there a method to modify the existing custom structural member without creating a new custom structural member?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 3 node Structural Member created that works... Now the next questions... Can you anchor columns at 3 column grid intersections... then draw this 3 node Structural Beam such that it will anchor also... so that... if you adjust the column grid... the columns and the 3 node structural member will adjust accordingly?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI ran into a problem with the structural member wizard today. I was making up a bunch of glulams and everything was doing just fine, then all of a sudden the wizard stopped accepting new values for the member depth. No matter what you try to enter, it is rejected and a value of 1'-0" is placed in the field. It will accept new values for both width and lamination depth however. I tried to make a member of another material (steel) just in case it was just the glulams. No luck, they behave the same way, you can't set the beam depth. I also tried restarting ACA, working in a completely new (and clean) file, as well as restarting my computer, it didn't work.
I really don't want to have to go through the repair/reinstall circus if I don't have to.
How do you make both the Plan and Plan Low Detail both show in bold as being current in the display properties of a structural member?
View 3 Replies View RelatedCan you create a profile into a structural via the command line?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIm using MEP and in MEP2010 the Offset command worked fine on my structural members, offsetting to the direction I picked.
In MEP2012 the offset command now offsets the same structural member to the opposite side of the point I pick.
The structural member is rolled 180 and the way I can correct this offset issue is to roll the SM back to 0, then the offset command offsets to the correct side.
Is there a new setting or something in 2012 that will get the offset command behaving the way it did in 2010 where it does not care about the objects properties and just offsets it correctly?
How do I get to the settings that control what does and does not show in any given discipline - we need to update the Structural Discipline to show the non-structural walls, and non-structural portions of other walls as halftone.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI need to miter the circled shapes in the attached image. I've been unsuccessful using booleans. The pink object in the upper left was modeled as an AutoCAD solid. I'm trying to duplicate it in Max 2009.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I create a model space view; then drag it on the sheet; shouldn't they be linked? I mean if I go into the View drawing, move the drawing in question, then update the model space view, shouldn't that update the sheet view automatically? Theoretically speaking of course; we are talking AutoCad.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have had this complaint for a while internally however whenever Autocad Architecture saves while using a fully functional 3d architure model it hangs when it saves.
There are no errors discovered via audit, the file has been purged, the file has annotative scaled items, there are 3 x-refs & we are working off the server. The file generally has a low amount of layers and the xreferences have also been audited and purged.
in the base file - When Autocad Saves automatically or manually I get a 30 second delay. The task manager only shows one core on the I5 being used more than the others (not fully but spikes up and down). However when I want to go crazy and save multiple times the other cores pick up accordingly (obviously). Cpu usage only shows 27% usage at it s peak (overall).
The amount of ram used remains unchanged in both scenarios.
The network indicates 3-12% usage.
In the xref of the base file (generally the sheet file which has only the base file (with all the attached xreferences) and a title block with a low res image - The model craps out for 2 minutes while it saves same task manager results as well.
I have clean xreferences with no looping which the base file houses.
I'm trying to elimitnate or upgrade (computer) whatever is the issue.
note this has also occured with standard linework files (versus using 3d autcad architure elements)
Computer specs
Intel I5 760 @2.8ghz
16gb ram
64 bit OS win7 pro
Quadro FX 580 with dual screen
few of our systems are not loading the xrefs automatically. it show as UNRESOLVED until reload it manually. also this systems are not able to attach / overlay xrefs as relative path.
View 7 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to add an architrave to a door opening automatically.
I.e wall is 150mm thick and door is 1010mm wide and 2100 high. can the architrave go round the edge of the opening and adjust if the door shrinks to 910mm
I have noticed when I go to open a file there is also a recover file. Almost every file I have worked on in the last two weeks has a recover file. This causes problems if I can’t see the entire file name and accidentally start working with the recover file.
does AutoCAD 2012 automatically create recover files? I don't have unexpected shutdowns, I have never been asked to recover or create a recover file.
I'm trying to generate frame members around a combination of 2D & 3D sketches, the preview is fine however when I click apply and OK it magically vanishes
Everything is set up fine in the 'Insert Frame' dialogue box and the previews look spot on.

I am currently working on a complex roof truss (kind of similar to the new roof in Kings Cross station) and have currently got it in autocad as thousands of lines.... I am hoping to 3d print it and require all the lines to be solid cylinders of which I can convert easily enough individually... Any way of converting them all to cylinders to save having to do this over 5000 times!!
View 2 Replies View RelatedCan i create a custom size frame member and publish this custom size metal frame member for use with the Frame Generator?
Also is it possible to publish the frame member with a particular color?
I've created a frame out of tubular steel using frame generator. When specifying sketch lines for the members, i indadvertently selected two adjacent, co linear members, instead of going from point to point.
i.e. frame members are A to B and B to C - what I am after is a frame member from A to C.
I want to merge the two, to have a continuous piece of steel, however i'm afraid that deleting them both and replacing will delete mates which i have in place to each of their faces.
I'm having an issue with imates not showing up on members of an ipart. If I open the factory file the imates are there, but if I open the member file the imates are not there. This is causing an imate error in my assembly because when I need to switch members out (at the assembly level) the imates are not holding because they're not there!?!
I've even tried "Dirtying" the file by creating a plane and then deleting it, doing a save, then a generate files. This doesn't work either. Why won't the imates show up correctly on the members that they're supposed to show up on?
We are facing a strange behaviour, since we switched from network folders to Vault 2011 Professional.
If we create a new revision of an iPart factory and make changes to that factory, members that are placed in assemblies already reflect the changes, although they have not been revisioned and re-generated. It seems like the member is already fetching the latests revision of the factory from Vault by default.
