There I have an issue trying to show the text I include on a structure steel members. On model space you can see and print that info. But if I go to paper space and put the drawing on a view port the text disappears? See attached. Just jump from model to work (paper space) and you will see what I am talking about.
View 3 RepliesI want to get up to speed on the whole sheet, navigator, title mark thing but it seems so much more straightforward in Revit. I used to use mview and layouts and would title by hand on paper space layouts. With the functionally of Revit (it seems to be straight forward to drop in field information in title marks, sheet, numbers etc.) I am having problems in the navigator.
My process now in Autocad 2013 is to draw in model space, go to a layout in paper space, insert using 'mview' with the scale appropriate to the paper space sheet (that has an imported border with logo company info etc.). In order to automate the title marks, I use the tools pallet and drag that block into the layout. The title mark won't recognize the mview, so I made vports (using the vports dialog) but these boxes disappear when I exit that vport dialog box. When I insert the title mark from the pallet these vports show up when dragged over, but disappear again when placed or when the cursor is moved away. There appears on these vports to be a title mark location already as the lower left hand corner has a circle (as to show a view number).
So is the mview not a vport? How do I get the current vports to show their borders on the layout or how do I get the mview border to become a vport? I'd like to get the automatic fields to work so that I can enjoy the functionality I am currently enjoying in Revit. 'Why not just use Revit', there are times when our office needs to use autocad when revit doesn't make sense.
if it possible to insert vport's annotation/standard scale into title block as a filed? Does some variable exist or I have to create a formula?

In the drawing, when i choose the first table mamber it shows both. when i choose to show the active member it shows the first member only (as i want).It didn't happen before i split the part.
My zip program doesn't know to include only the subfolder with the generated table files, only the whole path. i hope you will manage to generate the files, if not-i will add them with the whole path
The following is the problem: I have an assy with multiple different frames. If I make a parst list in the IDW all the frame members are shown seperatey, I just want to show only the frames in de parts list. I tried grouping, but when two assy's are the same that doesn't work any more.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to have a dynamic block with text which, when inserted into a drawing, will show the text orientation matched to the layout? I have a non-dynamic block which is simply a donut and a piece of text. When I insert it into a drawing, the text orientation will change to suit the orientation of the layout. I created another block with the same entities but I also added a couple of lines extending out from the center of the donut. I added stretch and rotation actions in order to rotate and stretch the lines. I also gave the block visibility states so that either one or two lines would appear (the block is a utility pole,by the way, with the lines representing guy wires). When I insert the dynamic block into a drawing, I cannot get the text to match the orientation of the viewport. I've tried changing different combinations of settings but the text won't appear horizontal.
The two blocks I mentioned above are inserted into one file with a number of other blocks. When I check the properties of the non-dynamic block, the "match orientation" is set to YES. I cannot, however, change the "match to orientation" setting to YES on the dynamic block. Is this simply because it is a dynamic block or am I missing something? I don't create a lot of dynamic blocks and therefore I am not a wizard at it so I am assuming I am doing something wrong.

Next, copy the tool back to the Content Browser. The Content Browser catalog is updated with the new tool properties. Finally, reactivate the link from the Content Browser tool to the AutoCAD Architecture palette."

We've just started using ACA 2012 and have noticed when importing files created in ACA 2009 that structural members do not display properly. We use the structural column or beam to represent a rainwater or soil pipe and are expecting to see a cut through at the cut plane and nothing else however we are getting a couple of lines that represent the crank in the pipe and I cannot turn them off. I'm sure that a setting has been introduced somewhere however after two weeks of looking I am still in the dark.

I have a W1`2x40 structural member in a column position. I am cutting elevations, I want the web to show as hidden but can't seem to get it to work. I have attached the drawing with my 2d elevation style.

the size will change when I select it. The 150UB18.0 is in the list when you call GetAllowedValues for the Name.
How to successfully set a value? I have looked at
GetAllowedValues().SetValue(object value, int index) but not too sure how this one works.
I am ACA 2013. I received a file from an equipment company and has these blocks that are huge in file size, so I am cleaning things up on them. Their blocks have multiple layers in them with different colors and linetypes. I see the setbylayer command and it works, but not all the time. On some of the blocks, they have attribute text in them. the individual lines of the attribute are on different layers. I want to keep the info, but set all to layer 0. then I can move it to the block to the layer I want.
another question, is there a way to make an outline of a block? Some of these blocks are so detailed that I want to make a simple outline and then delete the block.
Is it possible to calculate the deflection a steel block will get, just form it one weight. Just use standard steel material, it is only supported at the end.

Attached is a dynamic block of a smoke/c.o. detector. I have a few of these on a floor plan and at times the entire floor plan needs to be mirrored. I would like the text itself to mirror as well so I don't have to select each dynamic block and mirror it again to read correctly.
I have mirrtext set to 0. I have read that creating attributes will solve this problem however I have created attributes in the dynamic block and I still cannot get it to read correctly when mirrored.
I am tying to create a Dynamic Block of a steel angle of multiple sizes and thickness. I used Dynamic Blocks before and live the idea of changing sizes on the fly with out having to delete and recreate an object.. I got as far as creating an angle of different sizes, i.e.. 4x4, 5x5, etc. and different thickness but can't get the thickness to work with the radius of the angle.

I've had a look around the system variables for anything that can cause this. I've also saved the drawing to 2000 dxf version, thinking that it might be a new feature causing the missing frame issue.

I am annotating my VPORTS with text, but I don't want any of this text to print/plot from Model space. All of the annotations will be on the same layer even though the annotations will appear on multiple VPORTS.
I am wanting to hide certain objects on a layer in a layout so they dont show up when i print it out. Is there a way to do this? But I still want the objects to show up in other layouts all the time.
