We model the building using AEC steel members in AutoCAD ACA. When the piping group xrefs our model into their model (in regular AutoCAD) to add their pipe, the AEC steel behaves properly in model space, but when they go to dimension in paperspace (for example from the center of their pipe to the face of a column) osnap does not recognize the AEC steel geometry.

I'd like to know how to align an object in model space with the edge of my viewport in paperspace.
When I draw, I like to lay out multiple complete drawings in model space, make an appropriately scaled bounding box around them, and then snap a view port to the bounding box in my layout. I usually have multiple drawings lined up in a row in modelspace, so when I want a new layout I do a Save As and then pan around in my viewport to find the next bounding box, at which point I have to resize the viewport to get it to snap to the edges nicely. I really want to be able to to it the otehr way around- while panning I'd like to be able to grab a corner of my modelspace bouding box and snap it to the the corresponding corner of my viewport window. That way making new layouts would be a snap. Is there a way to do this in AutoCAD 2012 LT?
I quite often like to use the wall grips to adjust the length of a wall. This works really well accept for the occasional situation were I want to snap to the face of another wall rather than the justification line. I know that I can snap to the face of a wall rather than the justification line because I have some files that it works fine in and other files that it does not work in.

I have an xreffed drawing and I can snap on wall edges in model space but not through paper space. I have tried the "allow snap on wall justifcation line" and nothing has worked.
View 4 Replies View RelatedUsing ACA 2011 and Win7 here... and I've noticed that the apparent intersection osnap does not want to work at all while working in a layout if the geometry I'm trying to snap to is also drawn in the layout.
If the geometry is in model space that osnap will work fine both in model space (through the viewport) and from outside the viewport.
How to turn off osnap for objects under wipeouts?
It is annoying that although the objects under wipeout are not shown, they still become targets of osnap!
I'm electrical and have my own display set oddly enough named "electrical". When I set the display to "electrical" I can't osnap to endpoint or midpoint of smart walls in the background (nearest works fine). When I change the display to something else, generally it works.
Is there an "osnap" setting for displays?

Can we treat the exploded text (i.e. individual text alphabets) as geometrical objects?
Can we apply "OSNAP" options on these exploded text objects?
Actually, I would like to prepare the symbol of National Board NB to be used to make the "Name Plate" for pressure vessel.
There I have an issue trying to show the text I include on a structure steel members. On model space you can see and print that info. But if I go to paper space and put the drawing on a view port the text disappears? See attached. Just jump from model to work (paper space) and you will see what I am talking about.

When working in paperspace trying to setup for a plot Autodesk decides to "freeze" my screen locking some of the drawing on the screen only removable by reopening the drawing.

this problem is keeping coming back. Working Autocad 2010 on windows xp.
We have just installed ACA 2012 on one of our workstations and randomly the crosshairs will disapear in paperspace. We will still get the cursor icon if we hover over properties and paletts etc. We have the latest service pack and ribbon hotfix. Searching hasn't come up with much.

Since I installed 2010, I noticed that OSNAP seems to want to snap to objects in model space that are outside of the viewport while I am in paper space. It seems to only happen with polygonal viewports.

I switch to paperspace and go to layer properties and highlight all layers and then turn on all layers in he drawing and thaw in all three columns and still the room numbers do not show. The layer listed in model space is on and thawed. Why won't it show?

During the last project review he wants to move them off the floor plan sheet and onto another sheet. No Problem. However when i went back to regenerate the elevation to copy to another sheet, I noticed that there were a flashing boxes where the old elevations were. Is there something there that needs to be purged somehow. I tried using the purge command and they are still there.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI do not know what has changed but the select objects works differently now. For example, when 3 lines are drawn and the erase command is selected. I do a crossing window and the command line says 3 objects selected. But when I do it again and only select 2 lines, it says 2 objects selected and the 3rd line is then unselected. It used to say 2 objects selected and ignore but the total was 3.
View 1 Replies View Relatedmy OS is Vista 64bit. i was using ACA2008 SP1 without any problems about a year.i decided to uninstall it and start using ACA2009.i have uninstalled ACA2008, 3dsmax2008 and other autodesk apps and removed some folders 'autodesk' and 'autodesk shared' from vista system folders.i also delete 'autodesk' from registry (LocalMachine/Software & CurrentUser/Software).then i installed ACA2009 64bit without any problems. after install i start it and there wasn't any problems (but i do not use any AEC objects, so i don't know if they was working).next i installed 3dsmax2009 & sp1 for it. max worked OK.then i installed sp1 for ACA2009. instalation was OK... but when i start working on a project i realised that AEC objects (wall,door, etc.) dont work at all ACA2009 starts OK without any warning or something...it loads at startup AECarchBase (and other AEC related stuff) but when you are trying to use any of wall,door,window it does do nothing... for example when you select wall from tools pallete it shows command 'WallAdd' in command line and then wall command ends without any warning or something...it also doesn't work from command line or menu the strange thing is when i uninstall ACA2009 and install ACA2008 again problem was also now in ACA2008 !!!
