My company uses a menu system to organize standard symbols. The problem is that every time I insert one of these symbols I have to reset my Osnap settings because it clears all the check boxes.

When I went to model space they were the same. if I list an object the color says bylayer but the display (in model space or in paperspace remains grey even afret doing a regen, or closing the drawing and reopening it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWe model the building using AEC steel members in AutoCAD ACA. When the piping group xrefs our model into their model (in regular AutoCAD) to add their pipe, the AEC steel behaves properly in model space, but when they go to dimension in paperspace (for example from the center of their pipe to the face of a column) osnap does not recognize the AEC steel geometry.

Can we treat the exploded text (i.e. individual text alphabets) as geometrical objects?
Can we apply "OSNAP" options on these exploded text objects?
Actually, I would like to prepare the symbol of National Board NB to be used to make the "Name Plate" for pressure vessel.
We recently had a draftsman that drew with snap on (he no longer works here), and now all the drawings he worked on have this setting turned on. I thought it would be as simple as opening up the drawings and either hitting F9 or clicking on the toggle to turn off snap. That doesn't seem to be the case. Snap mode seems to be tied to individual sheets, and every viewport. I have multiple sheets in a drawing and each sheet has multiple viewports. The last thing I want to do is open every drawing, click in every viewport on every sheet to turn off snap.
I have snapmode set to 0, but it will only turn it of in whatever sheet or viewport is active. I have to write a lisp routine that will go through every viewport on every sheet to set snapmode to 0?
While drawing with a number of oSnaps activated, at irregular intervals they all inexplicably turn off and are replaced with the Near oSnap only.
how I might be inadvertently doing this or why it might be happening on its own?
When trying to draw or stretch a line or grip along an object in 2013 it does not follow the osnap like it does in 2012. For instance if I draw a line and then want to draw another line from the beginning of that line along that line using the nearest osnap and inputting a distance, the line follows the cursor rather than the snap.

I thought there was a setting for this? I want to adjust the Osnaps so they appear further away from the point. IE: As I want to pick the quadrant I have to get so close to the quadrant before the osnap shows. I can't remember the variable to adjust this distance.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have several viewports rotated in paper space. When i set them to let say 1:100 scale go to paper space and then click into viewport it comes back to zoom extends of model space and i have to set it all up again and rotate it.
Second problem is that I've created wipeout in model space when i go to layout (paper space) ti looks just how i want it.
When I go to preview or plot it doesn't recognise any wipeouts?
I've noticed some issues with Osnap tracking not working consistently with a floating command line. It seems to happen especially when trying to track back along an object.
No problems whatsoever when command line is docked.
Just found the issue with my AC2013.
A bit of difference is that the polylines do not have to be even closed. Any polyline gives me exactly the described behaviour, which is definitely not intended. Appears still not resolved.
A user is having problems when using the copy command in AutoCAD 2013.
When they select objects, its not reporting on the commandline how many objects its found or keeping a running total of objects selected. Not even any duplications...
I've tested it on my machine but i cannot replicate the issue and have never come across this before!
Is it a bug? Is it a variable? User setting etc.
I like using wipeouts in adding text over busy sections of plant layouts. When they are printed as an pdf on an A3 they usually print fine. If the pdf is printed as an A1 or A O then the wipeouts have like a solid hatch pattern over them. I would like to continue using wipeouts to add text over details on a drawing if possible.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWe've got a couple drawings where circles in the model tab are hiding objects behind them like a wipeout will, but only when printing or print previewing.
We're using AutoCAD 2010 and the viewport shad plot setting is set to hidden.
AutoCAD 2012. When printing a PDF file wipeouts were working correctly. But then we replaced the machines with W7-64bit machines and started using AC2013. Now the wipeouts are not wiping out the background objects when you print using the "DWG to PDF.pc3" plotter.
You can get around it by using the "Print As Image" check box in Adobe, but the end user of the file may not be aware of this fix and then his pdf prints do not read correctly.
I've copied the DWG to PDF .pc3 and .pmp files from AC2012 to AC2013, but that didn't fix the issue.
Upgraded to 2012 yesterday. Today I've noticed that WIPEOUTs no longer have grips when they are selected. It also seems as though they cannot be modified via the STRETCH command.
All I can think of off the top of my head is to explode the wipeout, isolate the elements, reassemble them as a polyline, modify as desired and then recreate the wipeout from the polyline. But that's hardly efficient.
No grips wasn't too bad, but not responding to a stretch seems stupid. We use wipeouts in many of our blocks. We may take one block and modify it to create another similar block. Recreating the wipeouts because they wouldn't stretch or couldn't be easily modified to adapt to the new geometry will be a real waste of time.

I have a drainage structure table for a leaching system. I used some expressions to calculate some of the leaching pool values for the Top Of Rings etc. When the expression is false I get a zero. The expression work as expected, and I anticipated manually wiping out the false value, but when I wipeout or solid mask the values in MS they don't line up in the view port. How to effectively wipeout structure table cells?

View 4 Replies View RelatedIn short I am Trying to assign or attach an existing 3D models Jacket to a Human Character. I have tried many tutorials on youtube but they are all about garment maker clothes not about existing 3D models clothes.
1st- I have a character model with mesh. The mesh his body including trouser (pants) and shirt. The model is biped rigged so works perfect with *.bip animation.
2nd- I have a good looking jacket. Its a original 3d model not made with garment maker.
I tried to attach the jacket as cloth but the jacket did not stay at position when I runplay bip animation, or when I move the model. It seems the jacket is not attached at all as cloth.
I placed the jacket on the character model correctly at position. Then I clicked the MODIFY button.I select in the “modifier list" “cloth”.In “object properties” of cloth I select jacket as “cloth” with presets as “wool”.Then I click “Use Panel Properties”.At add projects I select the other object. And I press “Add”Then I select “Collision Object”.I press “OK”.It seems that the jacket is not attached to the rest of the character mesh or biped.Even when I press “Simulate Local”it does not attach the jacket to the body it miss shapes the jacket.
Ok so I used Image Trace on a .jpeg logo. The logo is black rectangle with white text in it. My problem is that when I traced it, the black space became the object and the letters are negative space. Is there a way to turn the letters into objects?
