I had created a structural member using the structural member wizard. I used many instances of the member in my drawing. However, the thickness of the member needs to be modified. Is there a method to modify the existing custom structural member without creating a new custom structural member?

I created a structural member of Pro-Panel II and placed it like a column. This works great, except when I need to trim the excess off at the end of a wall. I tried using a body modifies and it works in model view, but it doesn't in plan view.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI ran into a problem with the structural member wizard today. I was making up a bunch of glulams and everything was doing just fine, then all of a sudden the wizard stopped accepting new values for the member depth. No matter what you try to enter, it is rejected and a value of 1'-0" is placed in the field. It will accept new values for both width and lamination depth however. I tried to make a member of another material (steel) just in case it was just the glulams. No luck, they behave the same way, you can't set the beam depth. I also tried restarting ACA, working in a completely new (and clean) file, as well as restarting my computer, it didn't work.
I really don't want to have to go through the repair/reinstall circus if I don't have to.
How do you make both the Plan and Plan Low Detail both show in bold as being current in the display properties of a structural member?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIm using MEP and in MEP2010 the Offset command worked fine on my structural members, offsetting to the direction I picked.
In MEP2012 the offset command now offsets the same structural member to the opposite side of the point I pick.
The structural member is rolled 180 and the way I can correct this offset issue is to roll the SM back to 0, then the offset command offsets to the correct side.
Is there a new setting or something in 2012 that will get the offset command behaving the way it did in 2010 where it does not care about the objects properties and just offsets it correctly?
I am trying to make a custom palette for structural members. "Then, temporarily deactivate the link and change the dimension properties of the tool to 4 x 4 x 4 meters. Next, copy the tool back to the Content Browser. The Content Browser catalog is updated with the new tool properties. Finally, reactivate the link from the Content Browser tool to the AutoCAD Architecture palette."

I got one of them in and have it working very well except for one item. If I place this structural piece into an assembly as a stand alone part just selecting the length and the material as the key inputs, it shows the proper length in the part number and the description just fine. If I insert this same structural piece in a skeleton using the frame generator, then the length that shows up in the description is the default one that the part was originally created to. How do I get the length to show up in the frame BOM correctly when parts are created using the frame generator?
This works using the structural members out of the box.
I'm using 2012 Professional and I would like to know if there is a way to insert a structural member into a part file instead of having to use Frame Generator to get structural shapes from the content center withough having to manuall draw the section view of the member..

The custom member was published into a custom library that is read/write. I was forced to create this library in order to publish the part.
When I go to use the custom profile with the frame generator, I am able to find the custom member in the dialog but when the frame generator tries to generate the part, I get this error message:
[WARNING] Frame Generator: Errors occurred during inserting Frame Member(s)
[WARNING] Insertion of frame member(s) failed
[ERROR] A frame member could not be created. The template file for Unnamed GIRT-2 could not be located in the Content Center library.

Through Edit view => Tab Model State and then it was possible to switch between different iPart members. So it was easy to make a copy in the Vault from only the dwg (from a iPart member) and then change the iPart member. Now in Inventor 2014 it is not possible anymore.

The parts are driven in length by the key parameter "Length". Unfortunately, he forgot to mark that "Length" parameter as export in the parameter dialogue before publishing. Is there ANY way to get that "Length" parameter to be exported so the Parts List can pull the cut length?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn my neverending battle to find a way to turn off unneeded components in an assembly, I'm trying my hand at modifying component visibility with a custom View Rep. View reps seemed to pose fewer issues than LOD's (in that you can have a drawing and model open at the same time without a million error messages)......until I tried to make a pattern.
When first placing a new subassembly component into an assembly, it will automatically place in the "Last Saved" View Rep. Since certain parts may be invisible in my "skeletal" subassembly, this is ideal. HOWEVER, when I try to pattern this subassembly, all of the occurrences absolutely insist on displaying at the "Master" View Rep. This makes no sense to me whatsoever and destroys yet another workflow at the 99% mark. I understand that I can change the view rep manually, but manual workarounds and corrections defeat the point of using iLogic to manipulate our models.
Am I the only CAD user who wants the simple ability to "turn off" an assembly component? iAssemblies are not an option due to the shear number of combinations of unneeded components.
We've just started using ACA 2012 and have noticed when importing files created in ACA 2009 that structural members do not display properly. We use the structural column or beam to represent a rainwater or soil pipe and are expecting to see a cut through at the cut plane and nothing else however we are getting a couple of lines that represent the crank in the pipe and I cannot turn them off. I'm sure that a setting has been introduced somewhere however after two weeks of looking I am still in the dark.

We are using AutoCAD Architecture 2013 and AutoCAD LT 2013 in our office-just upgraded. Now, whenever we go into a drawing that uses the Archstyle (Shx) font and try to copy or paste any text, the font changes to simplex. We have to exit completely out of AutoCAD to recover the font.

Is there an error in DWG to PDF? When I make a custom paper size A4 with size 210x297 and 0 margins, the pdf comes out wrong, see attached pdf.
I'm plotting extends, center the plot and fit to paper in modelspace. Preview displays correct. This was not an issue in ADT 2007.
How can i get my custom toolbar back ?
