Is there a way to automatically generate layers based on color? I just downloaded a CAD object that's only got 1 layer but several different colored lines. It would be extremely painstaking if I had to take each and every line and place it on a different layer. It would be much easier if I could tell AutoCAD 2006 to simply split the object up by color and place each one on a different layer.

Is there a way to set the “lineweight” to be Color-based automatically?
I’m wondering if there is a way to set the lineweight to be color-based such that all the objects have the same color will take the same lineweight automatically.
Sure, we can control such behavior through the “bylayer” feature but I’m not sure if this very particular behavior might exist in the AutoCAD; color-based lineweigth!

My taxation/assessment/water department would like a map showing the routes a water meter reader should take according to linked data on parcel rollnumbers. They want an arrow on a line showing a route that should be follwed for each zone/metered area.

Is it possible using AutoCAD LT 2013 or do you need the full version to build something like this? Also, does this sound like it would require a lot of programming in CAD?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a line based generic model family I use for wall framing and for some reason separate instances of the family will automatically join together when the ends are within a few inches of eachother. How the heck do I turn that option off? Why would it automatically join in the first place? I have tried to unjoin geometry and it wont select the families.
It is acting like the way walls will autojoin but there are no options to disable this. It makes something that should be simple very tedious and annoying.

I have Lightroom place images in folders on import according to date taken, e.g. 2011 -> 12 -> 31 -> 2011 12 31_001.jpg.
Since importing a lot of images, I have changed their metadata dates due timezone issues or camera dates set wrong. So a photo imported in 2011->12->31 actually now belongs in 2012->01->01. How do I get Lightroom to automatically go through my whole catalogue and move them? I don't mind if all my files get renamed. I though of removing them all from my catalogue and the re-imprting, but won't that lose all my edits?
I am creating a block with attributes for a standard job. I have (4) total attributes in this block (for example: panel type, qty, length in imperial, length in mertic)
I would like my length in metric attribute to automatically populate based on the input from length in imperial.

We are using iPart - iAssembly workflow with Inv-2013 and Vault Basic 2013
My question is related to released state of iparts. Currently we are generating/ releasing
all the iparts when new member is added in order to manintain the parent child version relationship
Example : say i have a ipart 41020.ipt and i have members 41020- 001 ~ 008 . I check out the parent
from Vault and add 009 member to it.
Question :
Do I have to generate all and check those in to maintain the version relationship between the child and parent inside
Vault 2013 ?
Or
Only generating 009 will maintain version relationship inside Vault 2013

The files I am creating in photoshop are all coming out very pixelated lately. Especially after I flatten the image or export it to a pdf. This is true even for text layers, eps files I placed, and vector-based objects I drew. The photo layers are pixelated too, even though they were hi-res to begin with and I only made them smaller when I added them to my document. Why everything is so pixelated? I tried changing the file from 72 to 300 pixels/inch, but that didn't clarify the images. It just smoothed the edges a bit.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIf I have 2 layers at 50% opacity and a white layer underneath, those combined layers should equal 100% opacity and so I should not be able to see anything below the lower layer. Instead what I find is that you have to stack over 15 layers at 50% before they even start to appear opaque (and at 15 they still aren't).
What's the math going on behind here? I would have assumed that, with an 8-bit image, you have 256 levels of transparency so at 50% you've got both layers at 128; 128-128 = 0 or no transparency so why does photoshop still allow something to be visible underneath that? While we're at it, why does 100% look fully opaque but 99% looks dramatically different without a layer underneath? Maybe the math is adding up but 50% opacity is actually more like 5% opaque?
Is there a blending mode I can use that will similate the build up of opacity more accurately? I'm really annoyed with the fact I can't really predict how layers are going to interact based on their opacity; I wish I at least understood the science behind it so I could alter my process to produce the results I want.
I am hoping to utilize GIMP to map the results of a research project. Is it possible to color defined layers based on a data set? For example, is there a way to use GIMP features to edit an Adobe Illustrator editable map by importing an excel document containing two columns: one column containing the names of the defined layers and another column containing the color value in hex code. Based on this document, could I use GIMP to easily apply the colors to the layers?

I have 1.5GB+ of scratch disk available. I'm using the same procedures I've always used. I've reinstalled Photoshop CS6. I'm into work around mode, since I have lots of work to do, but I'd love to get this process back on track so I can get back to a normal workflow.

but I have more than 150 dwg file and I should open all of dwgs one by one and setting ON/OFF for STAMP layer for every drawing and it takes so much time!
I just want to select files and LISP program set the STAMP layer to ON or OFF value.
Is there a way in AutoCAD 2013 to have it automatically change to a certain layer when you do common tasks. I am wondering if there is a system variable, or a routine that I could automatically load when I start AutoCAD to do this. It would also be nice that the layer would then go back to the original layer that was being used prior to the command. What are my options for doing this.
For instance when I load an xref I would like it to go on the layer; A-XREF. When I insert a block I would like it to go on the layer; 0, when I create a new dimension I would like it to go on the A-DIMS layer, when I create a hatch it would set to the layer A-WALL-PATT, when I add a leader with text it would go to A-ANNO-NOTE, etc..
Is there a way to set up a custom Point Label Style that will change the text color if the information entered meets particular criteria? I will be entering sample measurements taken on two (2) different dates, but if the sample data is greater than 1.0, I want it to show up a different color.

I have many images files. For each picture, I need a color field of the main color, so the one that is most commonly seen.
This color should be saved as a new image as background.How can I do it in Photoshop, so this is done automatically.
I tryed first time this feature and disappointed allready.The result of three layers to assets given 3 darken colorcasted images.
This last one is exported with Save for web feature and got correct colors.Original document is on srgb color so it should be right in first place?
I have a hardware/software monitor calibrator to calibrate my desktop PC monitor for Photoshop work. However, when I transfer these photos to my phone, they display with an ugly color tint.
Is there anyway to display photos correctly on a cellphone or tablet that cannot be calibrated? In theory, it should be possible to generate a color profile for the phone/tablet and store the profile on a PC. Then I can convert photos to this color profile in Photoshop before transferring to the phone/tablet.
I have a file with two squares with red and blue fill colors respectively and transparent surrounding strokes. I'm trying to find a way to automatically set the stroke color of each square to the respective fill color. Is there an Illustrator script somewhere that would achieve that? I am not aware of an internal Illustrator command for this purpose.

However, Now I want to change the color based on a gradient through the middle. (horizontal.) I can figure out how to set up a gradient and change its properties in a different layer.
Also I have troubles getting plugins to work for some reason. Tried one for tiling but it brought up a stupid downloader that didn't show me the text.

I have photoshop cs2 & 3 on about 5 different computers throughout my home/work and i'm having a problem with cs3 creating layers at home.
Normally, when I paste an image from an outside source or draw a shape, create text, etc,... it creates a seperate layer. It does not do that on this computer. I don't know what settings ...
Is there a function or script that lets you automaticly apply materials to layers by name? Lets say I import a DWG that has 3 layers. Layer 1, 2 and 3 but no materials. I have 3 materials in my scean that are called 1,2 and 3. Is it possible to have all the objects in layer 1 to get material 1 applyed, all objects on layer 2 get material 2 and so on without manualy applying to each layer. For example if I have 100 layers and a 100 materials it would be a hastle and take long. I'm thinking there might be a script or function for this. I have looked but not found one.
