Photoshop Elements :: How To Print 8 1/2 X 11 Cardstock
Nov 2, 2012I made 8 4x2s that will be place cards at a party. I wanted to print them on a 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock, so I created a new file that is 8 1/2 by 11 300 resolution and white background. When I drag my images to this file it is resized. It is resized to 5 1/4 by 2 1/2. Before, I save the files and use the file place and it does work without resizing, but this is difficult. (By the way my 4x2 have a stroke inside of 75 px for a border. I don't know if this is messing it up or not.

Jun 4, 2013I've been spending way too much time unsuccessfully trying to figure this out.. I'm working in Illustrator CS6, printing some artwork on A6 cardstock and it will not center, even though it is centered on the artboard and in the media preview in the print panel. I would customize the media size, but the custom command in the dropdown list in the print panel is not available (it is grayed out). I tried customizing the media size in Page Setup and that didn't work (the printer spits out blank cards). I've tried using the A6 preset size in both the Print Panel and in Page Setup, and the artwork is still offset, or worse. I've tried printer defined settings, no luck.
The main question is how to center that artwork? Also, how can I access that custom media size command?
I'm using 2 different epson printers with the same result.
The artwork centers nicely on letter-size paper.
Illustrator :: How To Print Rich Black On PDF
Jul 2, 2013I am having a bumper sticker printed in mass quantities. The sticker is black with with large white text. My problem started when I exported my ai file to a PDF and the black came out gray. I then exported as a jpeg and found the same grey result. After searching online I found that pure black is not 100K, and it seems to be a mixture of all the CMYK colors. Well I adjusted the colors to make a rich black blend and when I saved it as a jpeg the black displayed as intended. However when i exported the same ai file as a PDF the black still looks grey. Will the pdf print pure black even though it doesnt display that way on screen?

All pages have a white background so I would like to have the document print with a black rule/ border around it so I can tell what it will look like. Is there a way to do this without manually putting a rule around all 25 existing artboards? Or is there a way to do this in the Acrobat pdf I'm outputting from this doc?(CS5)

I have tried all different PDF creation settings (high quality, press quality, PDFX3, default) from Illustrator but nothing works. How can I create a PDF that maintains 100% black and prevents it from converting to process black?

Aug 30, 2012Alright, I have a grunge vector I'm using in an opacity mask over my shapes. I need to convert my .eps grunge vector to full black, if I dont then the end result looks fine in illustrator...but when brought into PS you can still see light pieces of the object that the grunge was supposed to mask out.
When I click the eps file and use %100 black: instead of filling the grunge bits to black, it fills the entire selection black so I end up with a big black box, and if I use the stroke, it outlines the box itself. I tried making a compound path and also expanding the grunge, then retrying but no dice. Does AI recognize this eps file as one big square selection?
How do I get my .eps grunge vector %100 black rather than the CMYK black?

Feb 14, 2003if i print grayscale i get sepia tone same as if film printed by shop. I have read a lot of stuff on internet re print b&W but it all assumes you are starting with true b&W films. I have film developed to a CD, and it "registers" as RGB, but when try adjusting the channel mixer, etc and printing color = terrible. Printing it grayscale produces sepia.

Aug 3, 2011I recently upgraded my setup and my printer hasn't been able to print a nice true black ever since. My printer is a Roland SP 300 V and I use Versaworks. I upgraded to CorelDRAW x5 from version 11. When I send an eps file to Versaworks the printer prints a dark gray on RGB black and various greens for Pantone blacks. I printed a default test chart directly in Versaworks and the 100% K printed great. I pulled an older file out which was exported using Corel 11 and the black prints fine. I don't know if I'm doing something obvious wrong or what but x5 has a whole more check boxes and options when exporting an eps file and I'm starting to get lost.

May 25, 2010My work entails regenerating new drawings from aging specification drawings and figures. Very little actual CAD, more hand-tracing JPGs than anything. I'm new to AutoCAD LT and haven't used most of its features. But the one feature I really need right now is to be able to print a black box on a sheet of paper.
As in, a 2-D closed polygon with a solid black fill. Unfortunately, AutoCAD LT doesn't think I should be allowed to print a black box on a sheet of paper.
I've tried assigning the color to the box using properties. I've tried defining layers and moving the box to the "black" layer (funny that "black" isn't a defined color in AutoCAD...that's way cool...). I've tried various settings in the Plotter setup screen.
I have a color plot table selected and I'm trying to print to .PDF. I work strictly out of the model view and do a lot of print previews. What am I, or have I, done, or not done, that I'm supposed to be doing, to print the box?

If the document is on the network, colors are printing in black.
But if I copy this document locally on my computer, colors are printing normally.

I'm typesetting a book where the last sections of each chapter should have a colored background, full width of the page (a percentage of the spot color I use). The spot color at 100% is also used for section headings and the like. That means some pages have a completely colored background, for which I made a master page. The first of these pages should only have a background for the sections concerned (the rest of the page should have no background). So I made an object style with exactly the same color and transparency settings as the frame on the master page.I anchor a so-styled frame to the spot from where the page should have a color (so it will always start at exactly the right spot). Works fine.When I print directly from Indesign, there is no problem. When I export it to pdf, there doesn't seem to be a problem either.
But when I print the pdf pages, black text on the page with the anchored frame doesn't show on the background. On the rest of the page it does. Colored text does show, even on the background. On the other pages (with the colored master page) there is no problem either.
Illustrator :: Automatically Print Data Set While Avoiding Print Dialog Box?
Aug 13, 2013My company is exporting Postcards in Illustrator CS6. What we do is have a large data set imported into the Variables applet and use the Actions applet to record and export action and play it through the whole data set. We later combine the PDF files and print them as a batch.
My question is: Is there a way to create an action that will automatically print the data set while avoiding the print dialog box? It will make the process simple and move faster.
Also, what are your was of creating postcards? Catalogs?
How do people create a catalog with over 60 pages and keep the file size low?
Illustrator :: Print To File Message When PRINT Is Selected?
Feb 20, 2014I have a Samsung Laser printer. THe passive USB hub went bad yesterday, and I re-installed teh printer drivers. Everything prints fine from my on-line E-mail, Microsoft Word, etc. However, when I attempt to print from Adobe Illustrator I get a "Print to file" WINDOW that comes up, I never got this before I don't want to print to file (!!!!). I want to print to the printer.

I place a solid hatch in a boundary and use the DRAWORDER command to place in underneath everything else, but when I plot the dwg to pdf the black hatch comes out grey in the pdf (see attached pdf)

Jan 13, 2013I'm using a HP DesignJet T1100 (non postscript). I have inserted a screen capture of a google map into a sheet as a area/aerial location map for the project. Unfortunately, the jpeg is plotting out as solid black. I have tried inserting it in different ways but same result when plotting. I understand the difference between PS and nonPS plotters/drivers but I was under the impression that there was a setting to plot images in nonPS plotter dialouge box. I did find various incarnations of my question but nothing that directly speaks to it.

Oct 10, 2012I have one user that when trying to print to a color laser jet printer it only comes out in color. I even set the Plot style to monochrome.stb, (which is a network file that others use without issue) have Plot with plot styles checked, and even tried checking the black and white only in the printer properties. This is Autocad 2012.
Is there something I am missing to have the print out come out in black and white? Te print preview shows it in color.
Forgot to mention, if another user opens the drawing, it prints in black and white ok.

Aug 11, 2011how to stop AutoCAD Lt from ploting in grey... it doesnt seem to make sense to me why this is happening. We use to have Autocad 2007 and a lot of the files that we still work from were created in that. Everytime files are now plotted to pdf parts of the drawing appear a very light grey as oppose to black which is how they appear on the screen. In the plot style table in the page setup they are also black - and I have tried changing it from monochrome to custom pen assignments, nothing seems to change it. The files are usually in stb as oppose to ctb. whole page prints black or the colours that I have actually clicked on?

Feb 27, 2013Just upgraded my PC and before when I select plot quality "high graphics" the spreadsheet comes out low resolution, if I use monochrome spreadsheets came out perfectly defined.
Now with the new PC High graphics still comes out the same but when I select monochrome all I get is a solid black block. If the OLE object is an image (BMP) it comes out perfect with monochrome,it only happens with excel files
I search the forums for an answer but the closest I found was changing the OLE type under properties (currently is embedded); problem is the field is grayed out and cannot be changed just as the source application (ms excel 2003)
By the way, on the older files created with my old PC if I just open and print them from the new computer they come out perfect; if I open the OLE file and modify it, the solid black block shows up regardless if I print to PDF or print on paper.
