I'm printing a letter size document from illustrator at 50% size. All pages have a white background so I would like to have the document print with a black rule/ border around it so I can tell what it will look like. Is there a way to do this without manually putting a rule around all 25 existing artboards? Or is there a way to do this in the Acrobat pdf I'm outputting from this doc?(CS5)

View 11 Replies View RelatedI have some small rectangular drawing of different sizes (about 3" x 4" or 5" at 200 pixels/inch).
I want to place a simple solid black line border around the edge of the canvas. These drawings have a white background.I do not want white showing past the outside edge of the border.I want the border to show with an even smooth width on all four edges of the drawing.I want to specify the color and the width of this border. Here is what I have unsuccessfully tried: Using the Rectangle or the Line tool on a layer assigned for the border is a hit and mostly miss proposition.
For the Rectangle tool, once the rectangle is placed on this layer, I do not know how the adjust this rectangle. I erase the rectangle and try again. Sometime what I see is okay, but most of the time what I see is irregular and poorly positioned. For the Line tool the lines drawn often show as a stepped line, not a single width line. I do not know how to not have these steps occur, and I of course do not want curved lines. Can you instruct me about how I can create a simple solid black line border around the edge of the canvas?
I am trying to create a border around my drawings but I'm not sure how to start. I create A3 progress drawings on a muck shift site, they are very basic but serve the purpose they have to. I would like to insert a page border to appear 10mm inside the perimeter of the page to improve the appearance.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI need to get rid of the black border around the artboard. The two images show my drawing lined up with the art board and then inside the artboard. The dark gray is not the artboard.
As you see, the artboard has a black border. I need to get rid of it. It shows up in my project when my color key is green. The black won't go to transparent.
So how-to get rid of the border?
I figured it out. View > Hide Artboards.
I am creating a peice of artwork in illustrator. I have cut out the icecream image in photoshop and placed it in illustrator as a psd file. It looks fine in illustrator, looks like it should do. The problem occurs when I export to pdf, a black border around the ice cream image appears. However when I print the black border does not display. So the issue with the black border only appears on the pdf. Check out the attachment beow for example of what I mean.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen trying to print in Elements 11, after clicking "Print/Page Setup/Presets/Show Presets", the box freezes. Clicking Cancel or OK does not work. I then have to Force Quit Elements to clear it. Apple say that it is a problem with Elements. Using the same procedure in other applications, clicking Cancel or OK does work.

i´d like to know if ther is any hotkey on how to move any object or a group of objects from far on the page to the page border.
I want to fill the gaps on the edge of the page using the gap tool. I can see it is detecting some gaps but I was wondering what the custom gap option does? and if I could use it to close the specific gaps I want to close. I figured there would be a way using the pen tool so I drew a straight path across the edge and tried to join the paths together using command j but it didn't seem to work :/ I am quite new to illustrator

However, now I realize I want to save paper and place multiples, up to 3 per page, to do so everything will need to change orientation so all 3 can fit to print out on a standard size piece of paper. Is it possible to copy all layers of text and images as one unit, rather than having to recreate the entire piece 2 more times and getting it perfectly aligned again. I have spent hours getting it perfect.

Some background is that I have 16 different cad drawings that I have converted and edited in illustrator. I'd like to basically make a contact sheet with all 16 drawings so that they can be reviewed on one sheet of paper after printing. But each drawing is in it's own unique file, and I have not figured out how to put them all onto one page for printing.
I'm trying to use a smoke brush in Illustrator CS5 and colour it blue. However, when I place a black square at the back of the image as a background, the brush appears to have a grey outer edge. I have tried other brushes as well and some produce the same results.
I am wondering if this may be a setting that I'm unaware of or something else.
How do I change the page order / print order of artboards in Illustrator CS6? I know it was a much griped-about neglect in previous versions once artboards were introduced, but surely it has been fixed by now. It's just I can't figure out how to do it. It is not intuitive by any means.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having a bumper sticker printed in mass quantities. The sticker is black with with large white text. My problem started when I exported my ai file to a PDF and the black came out gray. I then exported as a jpeg and found the same grey result. After searching online I found that pure black is not 100K, and it seems to be a mixture of all the CMYK colors. Well I adjusted the colors to make a rich black blend and when I saved it as a jpeg the black displayed as intended. However when i exported the same ai file as a PDF the black still looks grey. Will the pdf print pure black even though it doesnt display that way on screen?

After moving a page in my document the master page elements no longer display on screen or in print. If I move the page to a different location in the document the master displays but if it is in the specific position that it needs to be it will not display. The document has multiple Masters and others do work on the page but the one that I need will not. I've tried deleting the page and adding a new one and that does not fix the problem. I've checked and "Hide Master Items" is not checked. The page in question is in position 48 with F-Master applied. If I move it to position 49 it works, 50, it works, 51, or any other it works. If I apply a different master to the page, it works. If I delete the page, add a new page and apply F-Master it still does not work. The only page that this problem is happening on is page 48.

I created/edited an album of wedding photos in the Organizer. I tried to upload album to Shutterfly to make an archival DVD and also make a photo book in Shutterfly. The photos uploaded individually to the Shutterfly print page to print individually, but the album will not upload to My Pictures, it shows the album name, but it is empty. How do I get the photos to upload?? Shutterfly was not sure how.

The scratch area enables you to have several objects readily available to you as you layout the page.To hide the scratch area objects and see a clean view of your page, uncheck the Scratch Area option.
