I have a basic document in Illustrator CC. The document is just text boxes for an organization chart.
When I go to change text in a text box, specifically trying to select text and edit the text - their is no text selection. I cannot go into a text box and double-click to select text, nothing selects and/or their is not selection color.
How do I fix text selection?
Using CS 2 on Win XP
Simple question:
am trying to edit a text layer but i am unable to open the text box to change text.
It creates a new text layer everytime i click on the layer.
When you centrally allign text horizontally and vertically in a text box, the text sits slightly high of the centre. Is there any way of setting an action or setting to deal with this rather than adjusting by eye every time?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a layout for an ebook with some important black and white bitmap illustrations in tiff., 300 dpi. These has appeared ok on print, but not on screen, reading the same pdf-file. This is partly because there are texts in fontsize 5-6 pt. People tell me I have to convert the drawings, or at least the text, to vector graphics. Question is now - since at the moment I have CS6 avaiable - can I open these tiff.s in Illustrator, change the text to vector and then save in a format, that can be inserted in the Word2010 layout? (You might wonder why I use Word, but it was a question of economy, when the project was started up).

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe characters of a word in Hebrew need to reverse their text direction despite the font being Adobe Hebrew which you would expect to be in the correct direction. However this text was copied in from Word.
I can't locate the menu option, e.g. Window>Type>Paragraph fails to show any RTL option. That the text is selected seems indicated by the bar at the top of the screen showing point size etc.

I want to change the parts of the text over the image to the image color. Basically, I want to make the image out of the tiny text and delete the image from the background. As of right now, I'm individually selecting text and changing the color, bit by bit. I know there has to be a much better way, this is going to take hours! I've been using AI for a very long time and this is one of the only times I've been completely stumped! I've included a sample image, the actual one is much more involved.

I wish to add additional text to the document in the exact shade of green that the current text is in. Believe it or not, I can't figure out how to do this. I can select the text I want to to be green and select a colour from the swatches menu, but the shades of green available there are not the exact shade of green that I need. I tried selecting my newly written text, click the eye dropper tool, and then clicked on my old text (which is in the shade of green that I want) but this frustratingly changes the font of my newly written text to the same font as the original text, without changing it's colour.

Using the JUSTIFYTEXT command you can change the justification of the text without changing its position. However this command is operated through the command bar of dynamic input. What I would like to do is to have the justification change in the quick properties this way.

If I use the eyedropper to pick up a color, it captures that color and acts like it is applied but object/text continues to stay the older color. With text I have to use the type tool, highlight all of the text, and then select a color. This process if very annoying when I need to highlight and change several text boxes at once. I would like to just be able to click on the object/text and use the eyedropper tool to capture whatever color I need.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am working in Illustrator CS4 and I am currently having a problem resizing text boxes to either enlarge them to add more type or reduce them to eliminate unused space within the active box. When I place the cursor on the corner of an active box, I get a square symbol instead of an arrow which would indicate that I can change size. All I can do with the cursor now is move the position of an active box.

I've searched and searched and can't find how to get MY screen to look like his. I have even tried to "Reset Essentials" (the workspace he's using) and still no luck.
I could edit an existing PDF made by another company, just change a few lines of text. The original file was around 3 mb. I add in a website, extension to the phone number, switch out the fax (That's it!) and save as a new version. It's now almost 30 mb. Why?? My work email won't let me send something of that size.. I tried saving as smallest file size w/ preserving editing and it came out to be 15+ mb.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am creating a layered marine chart with reference points. I've imported the chart and am creating text layers with a reference number in them.
I have about 700 of these to add - a daunting task - but it's for a NZ coastguard unit, so is worthwhile.
The idea is to have a layer with all our reference points on it, so when a chart is updated, we can just import the chart; add back the reference points layers and print it out.
(Why? NZ baynames, danger spots etc usually have 2 names; an english name and a maori name - sometimes we have to cross reference when on the water to find the correct place).
Is creating text layers the best way of doing this?
Is there any way of increasing the size of all the text - instead of having to edit 700 text layers?
