View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a Xara Xtreme Pro 4 document, a multi letter size page document with text and color images (59) pages. My intention is to create a 300 dpi PDF with included printers marks, full bleed, cut marks, etc. When I export to PDF, I select PDF/X (1a) and select export. Having sent the file to my publisher, I am told that the printers marks aren't present in the document. I have no way to verify, as when I open the document, I only see the basic document (no printers marks, etc.)
My assumption was that the printer's software would be able to see this whereas the basic PDF reader cannot. Again, I have no way to verify if the printers marks exist.
Should I be creating a larger page size to accomodate the printer's marks? What am I doing wrong in the export that the printer's marks aren't being placed?
I am sure PDF/X 5 is better and might be available in a new version of Xara, but I would think PDF/X 1a - 4 any of them should be appropriate to place the necessary marks. What don't I know?
Don't know if the PDF is worth looking at to verify, but it is 254 MB in size containing unpublished material, I don't want 'released'.
I created an interactive form in InDesign CC and do not like the check marks as they are not visible enough. Can I globally change the check marks to "X" marks?
View 1 Replies View Relatedcoming from CS3 to CS6 I would like to input artboard size and add crop marks to the board. Is this gone?
View 6 Replies View RelatedEvery new document seems to open with a default text size of 12 pt. (or 0.167 inches). I am a sign maker and my typical artboard size is often 120" x 120" or larger.
Is there a way to change the default text size so that new documents open with a text size of, say, 1 inch (or 3 inches, etc)?
I would like to change the standard length of Illustrator's crop marks. (I need that because I'm exporting colorseparations for silkscreaning. An as crop marks are printed *** well I would like to keep them tiny)
View 11 Replies View RelatedI am working in Illustrator CS4 and I am currently having a problem resizing text boxes to either enlarge them to add more type or reduce them to eliminate unused space within the active box. When I place the cursor on the corner of an active box, I get a square symbol instead of an arrow which would indicate that I can change size. All I can do with the cursor now is move the position of an active box.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am unable to change the size of an image or text box. It allows me to click on the image or text box but does not allow me to change the size of it with the mouse. View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using AutoCAD 2006. I have a set of road plans that is 25 pages long. This means that I have 1 model space tab and 25 paperspace layouts. Each paperspace layout contains 1 viewport that shows a specific piece of my model space drawing. I need to be able to print these 25 layouts to multiple printers at multiple sizes. Specifically, I want to be able to print 11x17 sheets on printer #1, 11x17 sheets on printer #2, and 22x36 sheets on printer #2. I know how to create named page setups so that I can just pick which one I want to use to print.
Problem #1 - When I change from printer #1 to printer #2, keeping the same size (11x17) sheet, the paper moves slightly relative to my viewport that is on the page. Therefore, I have to move 25 viewports (1 on each page) every time I want to print my plans.
Problem #2 - When I change the size of page I want to print, the viewport does not size to the page. Therefore, I have to resize the 25 viewports and re-zoom their contents every time I change the size of paper I'm printing on.
Problem #3 - When I want to change the printer or size of sheet that I am using, I have to go to every layout tab and select the individual plot setup that I want to use. Is there a way to apply 1 named page setup to all layouts at once?
Ideally, there would be some way to link the viewport to dynamically change with changes in the paper location and size, but I'm not sure that's possible.
Again, I am using AutoCAD 2006.
I create a text box and paste in the info into it. Now I want to resize the box to fit the space available but the handles end up changing the font size. I need the software to change the auto line feeds as the box's size is changed.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am creating a layered marine chart with reference points. I've imported the chart and am creating text layers with a reference number in them.
I have about 700 of these to add - a daunting task - but it's for a NZ coastguard unit, so is worthwhile.
The idea is to have a layer with all our reference points on it, so when a chart is updated, we can just import the chart; add back the reference points layers and print it out.
(Why? NZ baynames, danger spots etc usually have 2 names; an english name and a maori name - sometimes we have to cross reference when on the water to find the correct place).
Is creating text layers the best way of doing this?
Is there any way of increasing the size of all the text - instead of having to edit 700 text layers?
I'm trying to populate a drop down field with the list of available printers. Here's what I have:
var printerList = app.printerList;
var w = new Window ("dialog");
w.orientation = 'row';
var dropDown = w.add("statictext", undefined, "Please select the printer");
var dropDown = w.add ("dropdownlist", undefined, printerList);
dropDown.selection = 0;
var buttonGroup = w.add ("group");
buttonGroup.add ("button", undefined, "OK");
w.center();
w.show();
This will populate a drop down with "Printer, Printer, Printer, Printer" for each printer instead of the name of the printer (which is what I want).
When I try:
var printerList = app.printerList.name;
I get a drop down of blank entries.
How exactly does the printerList work?
I'm replacing my "standard" end marks with my own logo for when clients are in the studio to view image. What is a good general size for them that isn't too large? How many pixels wide (and yes i know it depends partially on how wide I have the panels set, but for the default settings on the program on a 23" moniter) is best to start with?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am having issues with text size when I attempt to change the text size in MTEXT. It is set to copy the last size I used but when I need to edit the size, it multiplies what I enter by 8 and turns inches into feet. In other words, I try to resize 6" to 3". The text editor will then multiply 3" x 8 and size the text to 24 feet.

View 6 Replies View RelatedWhenever I try to dimension a drawing in model space the text of the dimension comes out unreadably small.
I go into dimension style manager, I click on modify and I click on the text tab but the text height and fraction height scale is greyed out!
If I click on "new" dimension style the only option I get is to base it off my current dimension style with the text size greyed out again.
How to change the text size of dimensions if at the option is greyed out?
Im using Photoshop CS5. This being the 12th version of Photoshop. I still cant find a reason why they have not put the adjustments for keyboard increments in text or leading like In design and Illustrator has. I mean, Photoshop engineers have concluded for themselves that all designers in the world increase or decrease typography in 2 pts?

I go into a viewport and try to change text size from say 1000mm to 600mm but when I enter the text becomes HUGE as if it is in paper space.
I can get around it by scaling the text, but why it happens?

I am using PSE12 with Mac OS X Mavericks. If I use the type tool, type some text then want to change maybe the font or size, the text disappears! If I set the parameters before typing everything is OK, but it is really inconvenient.
Also when I do a return in text the first letter of the next line is always a capital whether or not I start a new sentence!
The text tool will no longer display the box that allows you to change the text size or text color. (At the bottom left of screen) ELEMENTS 11.
