I am working on a banner for my Youtube channel, and I want the text to fill the safe text area needed for the banner. Thing is, I don't know how to change the pixel dimensions of a text box.

Now I'm not able to draw sharp shapes using pen tool because even if I hold shift key everything gets blurry.
I am using Elements 9 and have used Elements since V5. Today I tried to re-size a jpeg and the program would not let me change the pixel size.

When i save a file "for web" as a jpeg with a specific pixel size (320x50 for example) and then send it by email to someone, when they open it the dimensions somehow change. Even though on my mac when i "get info" from the jpeg the dimensions are correct.
"Image > Print Size" really IS the command you are looking for.
The key is to pay attention to the units-of-measure shown on the Print Size dialogue box:- The "Width" and "Height" values under Print Size are displayed in real-world units (inches, mm, etc.), not image pixels.- The "Resolution" values are displayed in pixels-per-unit.- You cannot change your image's pixel dimensions (aka scale the image) from the Print Size dialogue. That's what the "Scale Image" command is for.Remember the relation between pixel and print sizes is:(print size) = (pixel size) / (print resolution)
When you change the image's print resolution, of course the real-world size (the "width" or "height" shown in the Print Size dialog) of your image will update to reflect the new print resolution -- that value is calculated from your image's actual pixel size and whatever resolution value you just entered. This is totally normal behavior -- in fact, it's expected. If you change an image's resolution from, say, 150 pixels/inch to 75 pixels/inch, this doubles the print size of your image but only the print size; the image's pixel size remains precisely the same as before. (You can confirm this by comparing "Image > Canvas Size..." before and after changing the resolution.)
And as others have stated, if you're using the image for Web viewing then its print resolution has absolutely zero effect on how it will appear onscreen (print resolution only affects, well, actual printing), in which case you'll want to use the "Scale Image" command to actually scale your image larger or smaller.
I create a text box and paste in the info into it. Now I want to resize the box to fit the space available but the handles end up changing the font size. I need the software to change the auto line feeds as the box's size is changed.

i am wanting to change it into a 2cm X 2cm avatar that is less than 6K in size,
how do i do this? everything i try makes the output file about 24k in size.
the reason i am doing this is the forum i regularly post on has a max avatar size of 6k.
I am creating a layered marine chart with reference points. I've imported the chart and am creating text layers with a reference number in them.
I have about 700 of these to add - a daunting task - but it's for a NZ coastguard unit, so is worthwhile.
The idea is to have a layer with all our reference points on it, so when a chart is updated, we can just import the chart; add back the reference points layers and print it out.
(Why? NZ baynames, danger spots etc usually have 2 names; an english name and a maori name - sometimes we have to cross reference when on the water to find the correct place).
Is creating text layers the best way of doing this?
Is there any way of increasing the size of all the text - instead of having to edit 700 text layers?
Im using Photoshop CS5. This being the 12th version of Photoshop. I still cant find a reason why they have not put the adjustments for keyboard increments in text or leading like In design and Illustrator has. I mean, Photoshop engineers have concluded for themselves that all designers in the world increase or decrease typography in 2 pts?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using PSE12 with Mac OS X Mavericks. If I use the type tool, type some text then want to change maybe the font or size, the text disappears! If I set the parameters before typing everything is OK, but it is really inconvenient.
Also when I do a return in text the first letter of the next line is always a capital whether or not I start a new sentence!
The text tool will no longer display the box that allows you to change the text size or text color. (At the bottom left of screen) ELEMENTS 11.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to create a template whereby I can make a series of images that I can save as jpgs, upload to my blog, and people can print them. When they print, I want them to be one quarter of a sheet of paper (fit four to a page).
I tried creating a new image using the "inches" specification and those inches seem to have no bearing on inches in real life once printed.
So then I figured that a sheet of paper is 8.5 by 11 and I want a resolution of 300 dpi.
So 8.5 times 300: 2,550 pixels. Times that by 0.25 to get a quarter of it: 637.5 (which gets rounded to 638 pixels).
11 times 300: 3,300 pixels. Times that by 0.25= 825 pixels.
So I put in for 638 pixels by 825 pixels and 300 dpi. I created my image. I saved it as a jpg at full resolution. I uploaded it to my site and tested out the printing.
It took up most of a sheet of paper. Not even close to being a quarter of a sheet.
I know Photoshop can do this but is there anyway to make the pixel size not change if im messing with the print size of a photo?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI often have to make borders for certain pictures, and I usually make them at 3px. Sometimes they are nice and thick like 3px should be, but sometimes they come out thin. It doesn't matter whether I am editing on a jpeg or png. Also I edit them in grayscale mode if that helps. I also noticed them problem with the brush, and text tool, as in pixels changing size (going from normal to smaller). I have tried resetting all settings. Should I remove the configuration folder in AppData (I use vista 64 bit)?
I use the pencil tool to make borders.
I am having issues with text size when I attempt to change the text size in MTEXT. It is set to copy the last size I used but when I need to edit the size, it multiplies what I enter by 8 and turns inches into feet. In other words, I try to resize 6" to 3". The text editor will then multiply 3" x 8 and size the text to 24 feet.

I go into dimension style manager, I click on modify and I click on the text tab but the text height and fraction height scale is greyed out!
If I click on "new" dimension style the only option I get is to base it off my current dimension style with the text size greyed out again.
How to change the text size of dimensions if at the option is greyed out?
Every new document seems to open with a default text size of 12 pt. (or 0.167 inches). I am a sign maker and my typical artboard size is often 120" x 120" or larger.
Is there a way to change the default text size so that new documents open with a text size of, say, 1 inch (or 3 inches, etc)?
How do I control being able to see the pixel size of the pencil tool so its not just a small x but I can actually see the size of the area I am going to draw with?

I was thinking maybe there can only be so many pixels per inch, and because I had it set too high, the dimensions of the doc. were distorted. Anyone know if there is such a magick number?

I go into a viewport and try to change text size from say 1000mm to 600mm but when I enter the text becomes HUGE as if it is in paper space.
I can get around it by scaling the text, but why it happens?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am working in Illustrator CS4 and I am currently having a problem resizing text boxes to either enlarge them to add more type or reduce them to eliminate unused space within the active box. When I place the cursor on the corner of an active box, I get a square symbol instead of an arrow which would indicate that I can change size. All I can do with the cursor now is move the position of an active box.
