AutoCAD 2010 :: Change Attribute Text Size Global

Feb 19, 2012

I used the BEDIT command (editor) on my block to modify the text size then save the block editor changes. Then use ATTSYNC to perform the changes on all existing blocks references to resize the texts, but after i complete the ATTSYNC command, the text in all the blocks disappear.

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Global Attribute Change Multiple Drawings

Feb 6, 2012

We have a few hundred drawings that we need to change certain block attributes. We need to change the valve of the text in that attribute from whatever it is (doesn't matter what it is) to a specific text string.

For example: If the attribute is called "name" and has the text string of ALAN in it in some drawing or BRUCE in other drawings, we want to chaneg all drawings to TOM.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Global Edit Of Invisible Attributes Without Syncing Attribute Location

Feb 11, 2012

Working in Autocad 2011, PC version. My drawing has blocks that contain (1) visibible and editable attribute. Also contain (4) invisible and constant attributes.  I need to update text information in the (4) invisible attributes. Using BATTMAN seemed the easiest way to do this, but when "Sync" ing the changes, the rotation angle/placement of the Visible attribute changes globally in the drawing.

(Many of the Visible attributes location were adjusted to prevent overlapping with other drawing lines.

How can I update text values of invisible attributes without rotating/adjusting the placement of my visible one?I've tried -attedit & attredef - neither of them did what I needed.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Change An Attribute From A Value From Another Attribute In The Same Block

Oct 5, 2012

What I really want to do is on our fire alarm blocks we have 3 different attributes one for the address, the candela and one for misc info. I want to make an attribute that takes the number from the candela (15,30,75or 110) and change a different attribute to a value depending on which candela we use (such as 15=.078, 30=.113, 75=.195 or 110=.259). But I don't want the .078,.113,.195,.259 to print out on paper, I want to export block information excel file so I can add up all values.

AutoCad :: Change Global Text Font

Dec 6, 2006

Basically, we get documents from other people and we convert those to our formats to do our work. We use a font called Simplex, but sometimes their document is filled with, like, Comic Sans or something stupid.

The match properties command doesn't seem to change font, just size and alignment. When I use the font properties dialog box, I can set simplex as the font, but when I make new text, it still matches their comic sans.

So two questions: How do I change the default font for the document so that all new text is the way I want it?

And is there a LISP routine which will find all text and change the font property and stuff the way I want it? For multi-line and single line text.

Also note, I've tried selecting all the text and editing properties, but font is not one of the properties I can change. To change font, I have to edit every piece of text one by one. And then ONLY multiline text has the properties to change font. I don't even know how to change the font of a single line text object.

AutoCad :: Global Attribute Edit

Apr 18, 2012

When I say "Global" I mean every instance in the drwaing, regardless of model/paper space.

Example: I have a roadway drawing with 12 Layouts. The Title Blocks are in the layouts (in paperspace). The text in the titleblocks (sheet name, dwg name, drwn by, date, revisions, etc), are attributed blocks.

I need to add the same revision to every sheet.

How can I globally do this, all in one shot. Seems like something I should be able to do. The old command line AttEdit command does not do it. It only works on blocks in the current space.
Find could do it if there was something in them but the attributes are empty.

AutoCad :: Change Prompt Text In Attribute

Is there a quick way to change the prompt text in an attribute? The only way I can see to do it now is to explode the block, edit the attribute text and change what I want the prompt to say, then recreate the block, which usually has the side affect of moving my attributes order.

For example:

I have an Instrument device block with 2 attributes, the first being the device tag, and the second being the device number. When I first created the attribute definition for the device tag, I defined it as:

Tag: Device_Tag
Prompt: XX
Default: XXX

LISP file that I can run that will find a Tag within a block and change the Value to whatever I want to change it to? I have a bunch of block in my drawings and I keep the Tags within them very descriptive, and somtimes I keep the Values blank or generic so I can Find a Replace throughout a drawing, but I want to get a LISP that can do this so I can use a script to run it on a bunch of drawings at a time. I don't think I can use the Find command because it will always pop-up the window to enter the text to find and replace.

AutoCad 2D :: Change Attribute Text Height When Tied To Parameters

Jul 19, 2012

For starters, I am using AutoCAD 2013.

I am having trouble with changing the text height of attributes in a block. I know that I can normally use BATTMAN and ATTSYNC to change the text height, but those are not working in my case.

I am using a point parameter and STRETCH action to enable my attributes to be moved, while the main object stays in place. When the attributes are not tied to the point parameter and I use BATTMAN in the block editor, the block will insert with any changes to attribute text height. When they are tied to the parameter and I use BATTMAN in the block editor, the block will insert with the attributes at the text height that they were created at. The only way I can change the text height is to use BATTMAN in model space.

I can work with this, but it would be easier to use BATTMAN in the block editor since my attributes are aligned vertically and changing the text size ruins the spacing between them. It would be much easier to both change the text size and respace in the block editor.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Constraint Based On Attribute (text Box) Width?

Apr 17, 2012

Is there a way to constrain a few objects to an attribute text box width?  I want the background box and line to stretch, based on what is typed in that attribute box.

I know that if I make the attribute, a multi-line attribute, I can add a backgroud mask.  I don't want to take this route, because the mask boundary varies, depending on what character is typed.  Also, there is a gap between the mask and line I would like to maintain.

I tried some constraint stuff, but all I seem to be able to constrain is the insertion point of the text box, and not the width grip...

AutoCAD 2010 :: Explode Block Without Losing Attribute Text?

I am using AutoCAD 2012 (Electrical).  I have a few blocks that I pasted in a drawing with text that is contained in attributes.

I would like to explode these blocks so that I can make some changes to them, but when I do this, I lose the text that is contained in the attributes.  After exploding the blocks, I just see the attribute names rather than the text that they originally contained.

I hate to have to re-type all this info.  If I could somehow choose to choose to convert the text originally contained in attributes to plain old static text, that would be perfect for me.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Global SIZE Column In BOM Possible?

Feb 7, 2013

I have written code to allow me to pick the dimensions of a part and update the dimension parameter name from a list of choices presented in a form e.g. length, width, thickness, outer_diameter, wall etc.

The parameters are exported and I can get overall sizes in the BOM with relevant expressions in columns.  So far so good.

What I would like to do is have a global SIZE column in the BOM which has expressions that vary based on another custom iproperty (PartType) which defines the part.  So for example if the PartType was 'circular plate' the expression in that parts row of the SIZE column would be <outer_diameter>x<Thickness> while if the PartType was 'tube' the expression in the that parts row would be <Outer Diameter>x<Wall>x<Length> etc

If I could do this I would not need different columns to define the sizes of every different type of material we use and also limit the number of parameters the user needs to choose from when picking part dimensions.

However looking at the BOM API I do not see an obvious way to alter the expressions.

AutoCAD VB :: 2011 Batch Convert Field Attribute To Text Attribute In Blocks Using VBA

Jun 3, 2011

I've got hundreds of files to convert.

In VBA, how can I batch convert field attributes in blocks to text attributes while retaining the blocks?  Is there a simple way to univerally convert them all at onceusing VBA?  The plotted values for the fields must be retained, too.

Explode will not retain the value of the field.

Burst will not work as it explodes the blocks as well.

You can right-click on the field and slelct "Convert to text" from the RCM.  So I know that the process exists within CAD, just need to batch the process for a quantity of DWGs at a time - in VBA.
