AutoCAD 2010 :: Change Font Of Named Attribute
Sep 25, 2012
I am using Autocad Electrical and I have an attribute name INST for the installation code in multiple blocks in my drawings. Is there a command out there that can change the font of just that attribute to Arial through out the drawing. I do not want to change any of the other attributes and they all use the same style.

how to change the font of a specific attribute in all my blocks in a drawing. I am trying to change the INST attribute font to Arial but I have thousands of them through out my project. My other attributes that I do not want to change are using the same Style as this block so I can not simply change the style.

creating a block with attributes. I did manage to get my block set up and inserted in a dwg, but I am unable to change the "value" of any attribute. Unless I click on the "..." button next to the value field.

What I really want to do is on our fire alarm blocks we have 3 different attributes one for the address, the candela and one for misc info. I want to make an attribute that takes the number from the candela (15,30,75or 110) and change a different attribute to a value depending on which candela we use (such as 15=.078, 30=.113, 75=.195 or 110=.259). But I don't want the .078,.113,.195,.259 to print out on paper, I want to export block information excel file so I can add up all values.

I create named views for each area that will become its own sheet when I go to paperspace. Right or wrong that seems to make it easy to create all of the layouts.
I would like to be able to create a table thru attribute extraction that will take-off parts in an individual named view so each layout sheet will have a parts list for only the items I want shown on that sheet.
The only two options I see in attribute extraction are for model space only and entire drawing. Am I going at this wrong?
Example: I would like a table showing all of the window types on level 1, level 2, etc. on the same sheet as the key plan for that level.

I used the BEDIT command (editor) on my block to modify the text size then save the block editor changes. Then use ATTSYNC to perform the changes on all existing blocks references to resize the texts, but after i complete the ATTSYNC command, the text in all the blocks disappear.

In 2008, one could create some Mtext using a type font named ISOCPEUR and type of line of text. One could then go to the Express Tools/text/explode text function. That would explode the text and one could then manipulate it so that one had a bunch of letters that were polylines. One could then extrude the polylines and either add or subtract them from a solid and create either recessed or proud lettering on a part. That meant you could mark a casting or a molded part just like in the real world.
But in the fully advanced, super dooper, state-of-the-art, fantasmagorical (sp) AutoCAD 2013, if one goes to Express Tools and selects the explode function, the command TXTEXP is not recognized as a valid command.

I copied a piece of an Excel file into AutoCAD as a table. It comes in with the truetype font even though it is assigned to a table style that utilizes an shx font and the correct text style is assigned when I double click in the cell. If I click into the cell and change the text style it will change the font but this will be very time consuming.In the end, I need an AutoCAD table with this information.

I have a drawing with several views I've saved using the View Manager. Since creating the views, I have created some new layers. Now when I use View Manager to set an existing model space view current, the new layers are set to frozen. When I created the views, I un-checked the 'Save layer snapshot with view' checkbox.
I can thaw the new layers, then use the 'Update layers' button to correct this, but it's a hassle. Why is it freezig layers created after the view was created?

I need to publish multiple files that are in the Named Plot Style Mode in Black and White instead of color. Is there a way to do that in 2012? In previous versions it wasn't a problem. Short of opening every single file and doing the convertpstyles I can't seem to figure out a quick way to do it. Is there an option somewhere that I can change to make the Publish use the Color Plot Style Mode so that it will recognize the monocrome.ctb file?

How to access the BTR, read and write BRef, attDef, AttRef etc. But this has me stumped. There are a few different examples but can’t find anything that works and don't know why.
I have inserted a block in modelspace, I have the BlockRefID and now want to change its attribute values. This finds the attributes tags but doesn’t write the sValue. Why it isn’t writing the value to the block.
Public Sub ChangeAttributeValue(ByVal BlockRefID As ObjectId, ByVal sTagName As String, ByVal sValue As String)
Dim doc As Document = Application.DocumentManager.MdiActiveDocument
Dim db As Database = doc.Database
Dim tr As Transaction = db.TransactionManager.StartTransaction()
Dim br As BlockReference = DirectCast(tr.GetObject(BlockRefID, OpenMode.ForWrite), BlockReference)

I have an issue regarding nested entity.
I have a nested entity block reference. In this entity I have three blocks. if I change any of the block reference attribute definition in the nested block reference then it is changing the original block itself.
Actually I am getting the handle of the selected block reference in the nested Entity. and change the attribute reference later. but it is making change in the block itself and other block reference too.
Here is my
static public void CONTACTS()
{
Document doc = Autodesk.AutoCAD.ApplicationServices.Application.DocumentManager.MdiActiveDocument;
Editor ed = doc.Editor;
string contactName = string.Empty;//to hold contact name, from xdata

Is there a quick way to change the prompt text in an attribute? The only way I can see to do it now is to explode the block, edit the attribute text and change what I want the prompt to say, then recreate the block, which usually has the side affect of moving my attributes order.
For example:
I have an Instrument device block with 2 attributes, the first being the device tag, and the second being the device number. When I first created the attribute definition for the device tag, I defined it as:
Tag: Device_Tag
Prompt: XX
Default: XXX
But I now want to change the prompt to be:
Prompt: Device ID

LISP file that I can run that will find a Tag within a block and change the Value to whatever I want to change it to? I have a bunch of block in my drawings and I keep the Tags within them very descriptive, and somtimes I keep the Values blank or generic so I can Find a Replace throughout a drawing, but I want to get a LISP that can do this so I can use a script to run it on a bunch of drawings at a time. I don't think I can use the Find command because it will always pop-up the window to enter the text to find and replace.

I need to create blocks in which the same text appears twice. I've created an invisible attribute to hold the text and created two mtext object containing fields that point to the attribute value.
The text fields show the default value of my attribute but will not change when the attribute is set on an placed instance. After setting the attribute on an instance I've tried UPDATEFIELD and REGEN but still I see the default value.

whenever I make a block with attributed text the block works just fine when I insert it into a drawing like normal. However if I try and open the block drawing by itself the attributed text just turns into normal text after I get this message "Orphan Attdef Objects found & Converted to Text". This problem seems to happen on two of our machines but a third co-workers machine still works fine.
