AutoCAD 2010 :: How To Import Named UCS Settings
Aug 22, 2012I have many named UCS settings in the base file but have to apply this setting to at least 30 files... It would be nightmare if I have to do this all one by one.

View 1 RepliesI have been trying to export my annotation settings using the profile function on Autocad 2010. I can't get it to work, and I don't think this is the best way to achieve my goal. I've made a template file, but I don't know how to import it.
My goal is to, as quickly as possible, give 8 drawings the same annotation settings.
I am using Autocad Electrical and I have an attribute name INST for the installation code in multiple blocks in my drawings. Is there a command out there that can change the font of just that attribute to Arial through out the drawing. I do not want to change any of the other attributes and they all use the same style.

These computers are not connected.
I'd have to copy to a CD.
I have a drawing with several views I've saved using the View Manager. Since creating the views, I have created some new layers. Now when I use View Manager to set an existing model space view current, the new layers are set to frozen. When I created the views, I un-checked the 'Save layer snapshot with view' checkbox.
I can thaw the new layers, then use the 'Update layers' button to correct this, but it's a hassle. Why is it freezig layers created after the view was created?
Whenever I try and click on the "Render Settings" button, it gives me this error at the bottom right of my screen. It appears in red, so I am guessing it is a critical error or something along those lines.
But once I click the "Render Settings" button once more, the window pops up (with the addition of the error) but with absolutely no options or tabs to choose from or click on. With the exception of the render layer option and the render type (Maya Software and so on). This leads me to believe that this error (being: Error: ImportError: No module named stereo), is preventing Maya from functioning properly and preventing me from modifying all of the appropriate render options.
I am moving files from my desktop.
I am adding them to my LR catalogue, and while moving them to one external drive, also copying the files to a backup drive.
The files are named and put in the correct folder on the main drive, but the photos backed up to the second drive are put in a folder called "Imported on October 6, 2012".
Why? How do I turn this off?
Latest OSX (10.8), Latest Lightroom.
I need to publish multiple files that are in the Named Plot Style Mode in Black and White instead of color. Is there a way to do that in 2012? In previous versions it wasn't a problem. Short of opening every single file and doing the convertpstyles I can't seem to figure out a quick way to do it. Is there an option somewhere that I can change to make the Publish use the Color Plot Style Mode so that it will recognize the monocrome.ctb file?
View 9 Replies View RelatedThis issue occured shortly after update to 4.2, but not directly after. I am using windows 8.
The issue that occurs is after importing images they are adjusted automatically to develop module cross process 1. After dealing with this annoyance for a bit of time I realized that I can not even "RESET ALL" the images to delete the adjustment. In delving into other images that have been in my database for quite some time, I have tried to "RESET ALL", which resets images to CROSS PROCESS 1. I have never set import to automatically adjust.
I cannot find my point settings.

The metadata for one or more of these photos has been changed by another application. Should Lightroom import settings from disk or overwrite disk settings with those from the catalog?
What exactly does that mean? This seems to happen every time I export an image to PS (CS5) and return to LR. What exactly has changed? What settings are being imported if I choose 'import settings from disk'.
I am using Map 3D 2010/Civil 3D2010/AutoCad 2010. Is there a way to change the default settings in the Map Import dialog box? I want to "Create Object Data" and "Import Polygons as Closed Polylines" with every shp file I import. It would be nice if I could have these parameters selected by default instead of having to check them both with every shp file I import. Is this possible?

It's really annoying. I'm back to using the regular command line.
Is there anyway of fixing this? All the other commands work except this one and it works on my co-worker's machine. I tried switching workspaces, rebooting etc etc. Nothing seems to solve it.

Is there a way in Revit to export or import settings much like a profile in AutoCAD and how I set up the icon to point at that profile when the program opens? I would like to know how be able to customize where the program looks for the families and other items over the network, so all users can see the same thing, in options.
Attached is the properties of the AutoCAD icon. The Target is set-up to point to the "AutoCAD Architecture (US Imperial)" profile. I would like to do something similar in the Revit icon.
I need to twick my lisp routine (attached) to run it without asking. This lisp asks if I want to "Update" or/and "Import," while I have a source dwg. and I want to: (Update and Import).
so how to remove asking and just run the command? I need that routine to assing to a button in OpenDCL project (I think I know how to do that thogh),
Recently we have discovered a problem (bug?) with the survey database. We usually import our field data from our Trimble controllers into the survey database (SDB) through Trimble Link. We have been very careful to get all the survey database settings right, so that the data comes through correctly and have been successful up until the last few weeks. We find this a good workflow, where we are able to make edits to our field data (change target heights etc) easily in the SDB and comparisons with Trimble Business Center and direct output on-screen in the controller confirm that our data is reliable. We often have both GPS (long Network RTK vectors from the nearest network base station) and total station observations in the same file.
The issue is that, as the fbk file is imported, the survey database settings change to reflect the content of the fbk file. The "Atmospheric conditions" and "Curvature and Refraction" settings, which I have purposely left unticked (the controller applies these corrections), become ticked. This throws out our heights, especially on the long GPS lines.
We do have the option for a workaround, which involves going back into the Edit Survey Database Settings after import and updating the data in the sdb, but this is clumsy.
This seems to be similar to the issue that was discussed here. However, we have only just encountered this issue in the past month or two, which coincides with when we rolled out C3D 2012 Service Pack 4 across the office. We are planning on implementing 2014 soon, so I have tried it out on 2014 as well, with the same result.
Is this something that others are dealing with too? Perhaps there's some sneaky setting somewhere that I haven't found which locks down the SDB settings preventing them from being changed on import? Otherwise, I think this is a bug.
I am also bracing myself for some comments regarding the dangers of using GPS in the SDB!

When starting acad with Startup set to 0 or when launching from a drawing on file, I do not have any problems, however, when Startup is set to 1, not only does the startup menu appear as a blank pop -up, but the AutoCAD splash screen just hangs without the program launching.
Could it be due to the fact that I am running a 64 bit System?
When importing STEP data, all the body objects a imported as medium quality. You can set it manually to corase or fine. Is there a way to do this during import? I have hundreds of body objects which need to be in coarse. Is there a way to do it with a script, or is there an import option i have missed?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have a problem with long (like 10 minute) saves.
If we go to Tools / Options / Open and Save / Thumbnail Preview Settings, in the "Sheets and Views" panel, the "Performance-Accuracy Slider" is set all the way to the right, which the Information Panel lists as "Update thumbnails when saving drawing".
If we manually slide it to the center, listed in the Information Panel as "Update thumbnails when accessed", the Save times become less than a minute.
This setting is not saved and we need to reset it each time each drawing is opened.
There has to be a setting because MY STATION did not have this problem with ANY drawing until our Supplier's Support Team got onto my computer yesterday. NOW it's a problem on my computer also.
Setting the UPDATETHUMBNAIL to "0" works, but then we have no Previews.
Setting the UPDATETHUMBNAIL to "1" does not work.
How to modify the settings of more than one layout in one go?
I wanted to choose the same printer for many layouts but I found out that I need to modify them one by one.
Some of these layouts have “Adobe pdf converter”, others have the “DWG TO PDF.pc3”. What I need is to set the printer “DWG TO PDF.pc3” for all the layouts in one go.

I am trying to move to a new computer and when I try to export the settings from my old computer using the 'Export AutoCAD 2012 Settings' command I get the following:

I am having an issue with my Sheet Sets keeping the settings I have entered after closing them out.
For example, I create a new Sheet Set (from Existing Drawings) add my layouts to it, organize them, then I right-click on the Sheet Set name and select Publish > Sheet Set Publish Options
In the dialogue box that opens I change four things:
1. Location: I point it to the network location where I want the DWFs stored.
2. File Format: change from DWFx to DWF (this is due to a limitation with our printing equipment)
3. Type: changed to Single-sheet file
4. Merge Control: changed to Lines Merge
It seems to maintain all of these setting until I close the sheet set out (change drawings, close C3D, etc.) Then when I reopen the Sheet Set later, it will revert the File Format back to DWFx and the Merge Control back to Lines Overwrite.
The reply given did not answer the issue but was mistaken for use with the plot dialogue box, which this is not about. The issue we are having is the sam as above with the "lines merge" ALWAYS reverts back to "lines overwrite" after the sheet set is closed and re-opened. I have seen a thread suggesting that If the PC3 files are read only this may be the problem, but as a cad manager in even the smallest of firms, having the pc3 files read only is just about a must to keep from accidental changes from occuring. Is this the reason? I dont see what conection the pc3 files would have with the settings in the sheet set manager. (all of our pc3 plotter setting are set to "lines merge" in each of the printer settings as well) so, where and why it keeps reverting back to "lines overwrite".
We have a drawing with multiple viewports, in paper space, When click on viewport no 2 the viewport no1 settings disappear before locking the viewport.

I am having a problem importing a JT model I have. The model comes in however it loses all of it's smoothing groups when it's imported and alot of the vertices are not welded. The importer doesn't have any settings for keeping smoothing properties, and it also doesn't have an option for Welding verts. The verts all right on top of eachother. In the DirectConnect text that I get after importing my object I have the following settings.
JT import options:
wantAllLODs true
wantMeshes 2
wantBreps true
wantCurves true
wantCoordinateSystems false
wantProperties false
wantExplodeAssembly false
wantDeleteDegenAssem false
wantMergeVertices false
I can change the top settings, at import, where they are set to true, but is there a way to keep the face smoothing groups and make sure verts are welded?
I have some issue in Trim command,.
(Please see the attached picture before read the below steps,.)
generally, I use trim command like this,.
Command: tr (enter) (enter)
select object: (I will select object which I need to trim)
it gave the results shown in the picture named "Earlier result"
But now I am getting differently like "current result"
But Earlier result is comfortable for me,.
Is this because of setting problem?
Is there a way to adjust the settings in pan, zoom, and orbit. I've been using these commands with my mouse button and wheel. These 3 commands are not behaving properly. Whenever I make a small scroll on my mouse, the view port zooms all the way until I cannot see anything, which is very unlikely. The same goes when I use Orbit, a small movement/click in my mouse, makes a very big difference in a view port.
But everything goes well whenever I start new drawing.
We are instaling Windows 8 this evening and I am trying to export the settings from C3D/map 2011.1) Is it possible to export your setup, which would capture a screenshot, so thal your toolbars and menus that you have set can be imported into your 2011 re-install? 2) In Options the Profile "Export" is the setup for your File path defaults under "Options" "File"? 3) SYSDVLG will export all my default settings, which I can import into my initial "Drawing 1" after re-install?
