I would like to have my autocad start with my osnap settings, grid off, ortho on, etc. I am not a fan of the grid, and I have to turn it off everytime I start a drawing. Is there a way to create this as a normal setup?
View 2 Replies When starting acad with Startup set to 0 or when launching from a drawing on file, I do not have any problems, however, when Startup is set to 1, not only does the startup menu appear as a blank pop -up, but the AutoCAD splash screen just hangs without the program launching.
Could it be due to the fact that I am running a 64 bit System?
I know that this sounds petty, but when i open up Autocad 2011 the grid is small and doesnt fill the entire screen like it use to or like it does in class. What settings should i check and change?

My first question is, looking at the picture, what would be the limits, grid, and snap settings? I made an attempt with the limits (0',0') (12',9'), with Grid =0'-0 1/2", and Snap = 0'-0 1/4", but it didn't work out well. I tried to make the Snap 0'-0 1/32" but it couldn't, neither 0'-0 1/16", nor 0'-0 1/8". Why can't I set the Snap to 0'-0 1/32"?
Next, I would like to know how the outer circle could be constructed with donut. The small inner circle below it is of 1'-11" + 1" + 1" in diameter, that is, 2'-1". If then the Donut (as shown) is to be of 24" inside x 1" thick, the 2'-1" DIA circle would disappear within the thickness of the Donut, leaving no gap between them both. How could this be drawn,
I had been using AutoCAD 2012 x64 w/SP1 for quite a few months with no issues. A week or two ago I went to open a drawing and the program locked up. I tried opening AutoCAD via the desktop shortcut and directly from acad.exe and it locks up immediately. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling 2012, but the issue persisted. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling without any service packs. I normally don't use Windows Update and hadn't downloaded any updates prior to these issues, but I did it to see if it would fix the issue and it did not. I uninstalled 2012 and installed AutoCAD 2011 x64 only to have the same exact issue. I have an old version, AutoCAD 2002 that works fine, but my job always receives drawings not saved in 2000, and my convert tool sometimes fails to convert them to a version I can open. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been given a new lap top plus the updated AutoCAD rev. 2012.Supposedly it is superior to my old laptop but... it runs slower, the mouse action is awful, it's like stirring cold porridge.
Anyway, I have spent the first week battling with various bits, trying to get it to look & feel like my previous laptop using 2010.
The big issue I have is upon start up. Rather than loading the standard AutoCAD "drawing 1" regardless, I want to have the browser open up so I can select the' previous drawings loaded on my last session or select a new drawing or browse folders to find the drawing I want.
how I managed to switch this on, back when I managed it on 2010 version.I have given up on running up & down the menus.

It appears at startup. I recently installed software (Simtra PathPlanner) that works with AutoCAD that may have caused this.

Is it possible to tie the applications loaded in the Startup Suite to profiles? Many of our clients have speciic requirements and we have client-specific routines to quickly create their drawings and loading a profile that loads only their routines would be a time saver.

I have a number of .lsp routines that I have loaded into the startup suite. I have their location pathed correctly and at the top of the list in the support file search path under options.
Problem is...they load into the drawing when a drawing is opened, but they will not execute. If I type APPLOAD and re-load them individually, they all seem to work fine.
I'm only having this problem with the computers that are running 2012 in the office.
I have been getting fatal errors during my user account but not in my admin account. I logged in as admin and repaired Autocad Architecture 2010, using the system disk. I got back the report that Autocad was repaired. However, when I returned to my user account, I get an unhandled expection error when I start up Autocad.Architecture 2010. Do I need to uninstall Autocad Architecture 2010 and then reinstall or should I just pick the option to reinstall Autocad Architecture and then do I have to another registration code?

A solution is not found, so I can only select 'Close program', and the program closes. I have run Reference Manager successfully a few weeks ago, and after that I haven't installed or removed Autodesk programs. I have Windows 7 64-bit, AutoCAD Mechanical 2012 SP2 and Factory Design Suite Ultimate 2013. I cannot use Reference Manager 2013 (which works) because it saves the files in 2013 format.

Why autocad always starts up with 2 layout tabs available on the drawing. In the template that I have created only one layout tab is available and if I create a new drawing according to that template after startup, only one layout tab is available. The template that I have created is set as the basic template for autocad, so it starts up using this template.
Now I want autocad to startup with only one layout tab available.
my tool palette causes a systematic crash at startup .

Within Inventor you can specify grid references around the border. eg A-F along the top and 1-5 on the vertical. Can this be done with AutoCAD 2011????

Grid on / off command has no effect. Really it doesn't matter if the grid is showing, but it's so annoying! View 2 Replies View RelatedI set a snap for ease of use, e.g. if my intended output scale is 1:50 I will set my snap to 25, this makes drawing lines fast and simple.
When I used the break command in previous versions (I skipped 2011) the break would keep the snap on so I could break either side of a line with a perfect unit gap.
In 2012 when I select the first point it disregards the snap and just puts the break wherever I select on the line meaning the gap is not neat. Is there anyway to put this back the way it was?
I cant start drawing an object from anywhere else( ie. inside a grid) except form the points where grid lines intersect. How do i go back to old system? I need to get some work done fast.

If we go to Tools / Options / Open and Save / Thumbnail Preview Settings, in the "Sheets and Views" panel, the "Performance-Accuracy Slider" is set all the way to the right, which the Information Panel lists as "Update thumbnails when saving drawing".
If we manually slide it to the center, listed in the Information Panel as "Update thumbnails when accessed", the Save times become less than a minute.
This setting is not saved and we need to reset it each time each drawing is opened.
There has to be a setting because MY STATION did not have this problem with ANY drawing until our Supplier's Support Team got onto my computer yesterday. NOW it's a problem on my computer also.
Setting the UPDATETHUMBNAIL to "0" works, but then we have no Previews.
Setting the UPDATETHUMBNAIL to "1" does not work.
I have many named UCS settings in the base file but have to apply this setting to at least 30 files... It would be nightmare if I have to do this all one by one.
