AutoCAD 2010 :: Creating A New Tool Palette
Jan 16, 2012We use autocad 2011 and we are trying to create a new tool palette. We have no problem dragging and dropping to our existing tool palettes, but we can not drop to anything new we create. We do not have any read/write issues. I have tried saving workspace, restarting CAD just erases the palette i tried to create.

Nov 7, 2012I have created our tool palettes that reside on our network. I am setting up a laptop workstation, and use the same tool palettes. The issue is the laptop tool palettes will reside on the C:/ drive, which is not our network drive. Is there an easy way to switch drives without changing each item, on each tool palette?
I have the same directory tree on the laptops C:/ drive, the only exception is the drive letter.
AutoCAD 2010 :: Tool Palette - External References
May 4, 2012I use this palette all the time and keep the icon displayed (in hidden form) on every session that I open. I started AutoCad this morning and "external reference" icon was not displayed on the screen. I went to the tools tab and selected the external reference palette. A box was displayed that could not be hidden and all screen function were stopped until I closed this box.
I went to customize tool palettes and compared it to the properties palette and they looked the same. I want to get my external reference palette function back to the way it was.
AutoCAD 2010 :: Saving Blocks To New Tool Palette
Feb 14, 2012I'm trying to save blocks to a new tool palette and it won't let me.
I'm doing everything I've always done. Right click on the tool palette, click "new palette" then change the name.
the new tab appears on the tool palette. I go then to drag the block from my drawing to the newly made palette.
As I drag over the tool palette with block, the black line appears on the palette as it should, but when I drop it to the palette its not there. I can drag and drop that same block to any of the other tabs on the tool palette whether it's a default one or one that I've made previously. I've done this process a thousand times, it always worked without a problem. All of a sudden it doesn't. I havent made any changes to my pc or os except for the microsoft updates.
I've also tried to load the blocks from design center to the new palette, no success!
I've checked to make sure tool palettes are saving to the right file....

and they are not read only!
I'm running Windows XP Pro, never had any issues until now.
Is there an patch or update to fix this

May 15, 2012I have a section cut that I use from my tool palette that disappears from paperspace. It shows up in model space and everything else I use from my tool palette shows in both model and paperspace. I have all layers on, unfrozen, etc. They are not on my defpoints layer either. It just seems to be that particular block that is disappearing. Its the strangest thing. One day it worked just fine and the next it started doing this.

How to rename that to say rcp,civil, etc? If I right click on the right side of the tool palette & select rename it renames all tool palettes to whatever I type in. I thought it might be tool palette groups but I am not sure. I can't seem to set one to be current. The selection is grayed out

Jan 19, 2012We are having an issue while inserting blocks from the tool palette. Inserting a block from the tool palette takes about 5 seconds per block. Pick a block, wait 5 seconds, pick insertion point. Last week it took maybe 1 second. It doesn't sound like much, but we use alot of blocks everyday, and waiting 5 seconds everytime gets annoying. Especially when it used to be almost instantanious. We also have our blocks in our template. The template is on the server. If you type insert, and insert the block that way, it loads fast, like it used to using the tool palette.
Most of the blocks are simple text or shapes. None are dynamic. We also have some hatches in there, that are unaffected by the delay. They insert quickly.
Another thing has changed. The time it takes to change to a different tab on the palette has grown. A tab with about 10 blocks used to take about 6 seconds to load, now takes a good 30 seconds. And a tab with about 30 blocks that used to take about 12 seconds, now takes about a minute and a half! Once the tool palette and each tab has been opened for the first time, say first thing in the morning when cad is first opened, the delay is gone. They switch betweeen tabs with no delays.
The only thing that I know of that has changed that coincides with this is last week we made a few changes to the template. We removed a few sheets that we no longer use. Could this have done something? The blocks are still in the template. We have 3 pc's that are affected in the same way, at the same time.
I've tried a few things to remedy this. I am by no means a cad guru. I created a .dwg with all the blocks in it. Made another tab on the tool palette using the blocks from the .dwg. Still the same delay. I tried creating a new palette using the design center and the blocks .dwg I made, but cad locks up on me and I have to restart cad. I tried that twice, same result.
We are running AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010 on Vista Business 64bit.

Mar 18, 2013I changed the 'startup' value from 1 to 2 in ACA 2012, now program crashes. On start up it displays the first error message 3 times (see attached), then opens a blank drawing. Once a select a file it displays the second message 70 times then opens the drawing. After a few seconds a fatal error message is displayed and program closes.
Error messages are the same other than address location changes.
I have tried a repair and a reinstall to no avail.

Set STARTUP to 2, and make sure the Sheet Set Manager palette is visible.
Close Civil 3D, then restart it.
It should open in a zero-document state, with the SSM palette visible.
Now open a sheet set, and double click on a sheet in the SSM to open it.
When I do this, I get four "Unhandled Exception" dialogs in a row, then C3D disappears (crashes!)

Nov 5, 2013Whenever I insert a block into my drawing from the Tool Palette, Autocad creates a Text Style and Dimension Style,both named Annotative. This happens on any drawing, with any block.
I can purge them after the block has been inserted. They are NOT nested in the blocks. I have tried recreated the tool. Nothing seems to be working.
AutoCAD 2013 :: 2014 Crash On Startup Screen
Jul 10, 2013I recently gave my windows a factory restore (fresh start windows original copy), I had no issues with autodesk software before the windows fresh start (i use Revit and 3Dmax too), i even installed and used Autocad 2014 on my laptop before the restore and it ran just fine, problem is now after the windows restore Autocad crashes everytime i open it, installation was smooth and succesfull with no error warninings whatsoever; the problem comes when i start Autocad 2014 for the first time, the initialization window opens and starts loading the files but then (everytime) crashes and freezes my laptop forever, not even the task manager is posible to open
My Specs:
Laptop: Alienware M14x R2
Processor: intel i-7 @2.30 ghz
16 gb RAM
Graphics: Nvidia GeForce 650M 2GB
running on Windows 7 64-bit
after the restore i downloaded the latest drivers for my graphics card, so that shouldnt be the issue, i also switched the processing tu GPU only.
i already tried lots of solutions i saw on other posts, but none seems to suit my need, i tried the .NET framework thing, switching off the windows Aero theme, but the problem remains the same, it still freezes completely my laptop everytime i try to run Autocad 2014, i even tried installing Autocad 2013, Autocad 2011 and Revit 2014 but the issue is the same in all of them they freeze at startup without any pop up error warnings, just freezes.

May 31, 2013 tool palettes from a directory called ACAD2008 to ACAD2012. Tool palettes can't find the associated blocks because the support path still points to the ACAD200 Directory.
Is there a way to "globally" change the associated path? There are too many blocks to think about changing each one manually.

May 22, 2012Is there anyway to stop AutoCAD executing the command used to create a palette upon AutoCAD startup?
I know constructing the palette without a GUID prevents this behaviour but I'd like keep this to preserve the palette size, position, state etc given when a GUID is provided.
I had hoped I could just close / make not visible the palette just before AutoCAD exits and it wouldn't try and restore the palette upon the next AutoCAD started. I've tried doing this in the Application.BeginQuit event but the command is still called the next time AutoCAD is started.
Photoshop :: CS 8.0 Crash - Startup Mac?
Oct 11, 2012Know it's old, but have been using Photoshop CS 8.0 on office Mac Pro and home iMac for years with no problems. OSX is 10.5.8 Leopard. Still works fine on Mac Pro, but has just started crashing at startup on iMac for no apparent reason. Graphic layout comes up and then shuts down. Reinstalled the application with same result.

It was working totally fine then WHAM! I noticed it first when i minimized it to the taskbar to look for some other files on my desktop. now it suddenly doesn't want to start. the 'only' thing is that the pc went into hibernation while i was at lunch a few times this week (can't see that having an effect)
I start it up and it crashes +/- after 8 seconds. EVERY time.
- Tried using the "run as admin" = didn't work (tried it just in case)
- tried changing a few settings in nvidia control panel = nada!
- once i got it open within the 8 seconds, I turned off openGL completly = nada!
- I've used the "DisallowOpenGLWindows_OFF.reg" just in case and that doesn't work either. (its a pretty recent GFX card)
all other cs4 apps (master suite) are working fine!
this exact same thing happened just before i reinstalled vista x64 about a month ago.

Photoshop :: Crash On Startup 'Scanning For Plugins'
Nov 29, 2008In a moment of lax attention I've done something stupid to the Photoshop CS version (original 1) and told it to search C:/programfiles for plugins whereas I meant to tell it specifically where to look.
So now it crashes when it gets to the 'Scanning for Plugins' part and of course I can't alter it back to what it should be.
Now when I run Image Ready the plugins are still as normal...
System Restore doesn't change the settings. Uninstall of the Photoshop component doesn't put it right either.
(maybe uninstall/reinstall the entire CS suite - but I guess even then it will still have the bad settings)
So is it a registry thing and if so what needs to be done to stop it searching the entire hard drive programs for plugins.
3ds Max :: Ribbon Crash On Startup - Unknown Property?
Feb 22, 2012The company I work for has just switched to Max2012 but my machine has a problem with it. I get this error on startup and whenever I open and close the ribbon:
-- Unknown property: "validobjfunc" in #StructolyBoost(undefined:<data>;Public)
It throws open the max script editor window and a message prompt saying the above text. If I press OK, the message goes away. When I close the editor the message comes back and we have a loop!
To get around it I can press OK. Then run script and go to max root > stdplugs > stdscripts > PolyTools.ms
I looked around and saw people had this error on previous versions of max and the fix was to place a copy of polytools.ms in the startup folder. I tried this and polytools.ms crashes instead on startup. To me from the error given it looks like the ribbon isn't loading a script somewhere that it should do. Placing it in the startup folder makes sense as a temporary fix but in this case it doesn't work. I can run the script after every time max has loaded but this is inconvenient and means I can't do any batch operations which I do quite often.
My PC specs are Win XP x64 SP2, Xeon W3550, 12gb ram, quaddro 3800 and dual screen monitors, I also use a Wacom tablet.
The problem happens in both x64 and x86 installations of 3ds max. We have reinstalled 3ds max countless times. My colleagues have identical computers, hardware wise, haven't had the same issues. We're using SP2 patched 3ds max 2012 too.

Aug 26, 2013I have PSP 15.2.0.12, win 7 64-bit machine with ample power and graphics card. Regularly run multiple CAD programs and so on.
When I double-click the desktop icon to launch the product it crashes - always.
When I double-click an image in Windows Explorer, it launches OK and opens the file with the Edit tab active.

CorelDRAW X5 :: Color Palette Causing Crash?
Sep 11, 2013I am using X5 on a Win 7 64 bit system. I am having an issue with colors that manifests itself in 3 ways: When I try to change a color from rgb or cmyk to PMS, the program freezes and gives the error message that CorelDraw has stopped working. Files that have been created using more than one palette will not open on this system - although they will open fine on other machines running X5. Finally, if I even mouse-over the color palettes tab from the "Windows" drop-down menu the same thing happens.
I have used F8 to reset the workspace and when that did not work, I re-installed Coreldraw with the same result.
