tool palettes from a directory called ACAD2008 to ACAD2012. Tool palettes can't find the associated blocks because the support path still points to the ACAD200 Directory.
Is there a way to "globally" change the associated path? There are too many blocks to think about changing each one manually.
We are having an issue while inserting blocks from the tool palette. Inserting a block from the tool palette takes about 5 seconds per block. Pick a block, wait 5 seconds, pick insertion point. Last week it took maybe 1 second. It doesn't sound like much, but we use alot of blocks everyday, and waiting 5 seconds everytime gets annoying. Especially when it used to be almost instantanious. We also have our blocks in our template. The template is on the server. If you type insert, and insert the block that way, it loads fast, like it used to using the tool palette.
Most of the blocks are simple text or shapes. None are dynamic. We also have some hatches in there, that are unaffected by the delay. They insert quickly.
Another thing has changed. The time it takes to change to a different tab on the palette has grown. A tab with about 10 blocks used to take about 6 seconds to load, now takes a good 30 seconds. And a tab with about 30 blocks that used to take about 12 seconds, now takes about a minute and a half! Once the tool palette and each tab has been opened for the first time, say first thing in the morning when cad is first opened, the delay is gone. They switch betweeen tabs with no delays.
The only thing that I know of that has changed that coincides with this is last week we made a few changes to the template. We removed a few sheets that we no longer use. Could this have done something? The blocks are still in the template. We have 3 pc's that are affected in the same way, at the same time.
I've tried a few things to remedy this. I am by no means a cad guru. I created a .dwg with all the blocks in it. Made another tab on the tool palette using the blocks from the .dwg. Still the same delay. I tried creating a new palette using the design center and the blocks .dwg I made, but cad locks up on me and I have to restart cad. I tried that twice, same result.
We are running AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010 on Vista Business 64bit.
I don't know why but I don't see images of my dynamic blocks at tool palette.

I can purge them after the block has been inserted. They are NOT nested in the blocks. I have tried recreated the tool. Nothing seems to be working.
I see that I am allowed to specify more than one path for tool palettes. When that is done, which path is used if a user creates a new palette?I have some custom palettes on the network. They swap each other out using the hidden toolpalettepath variable. As part of that, they also include a button to restore the path to the default local folder. I am considering placing all of the delivered ones on the network but also want users to have a way of adding their own and having them placed in a standard location under their network user area.

Unable to Execute the tool. Possible causes are:
- The tool is not registered properly. Please check your installation.
- The tool is from another application and is incompatible with the current application.
I recently had my entire computer wiped clean, upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7, and reinstalled Arch 2012, so no other versions have been on this system. All of my basic drafting functions work fine.
I found an old thread about using Regedit to change the registry of the tool palettes, but that simply made my tool palette empty. I just installed this, so I don't understand why I would need to reinstall.
When I try to import my custom tool palettes onto my co-workers computer, his machine does not see the xpg.
My machine is a 64 bit computer and his is a 32 bit.
Is there a way to convert the xpg to a different extension or will I have to set up his palettes from scratch?
I just migrated from 2006 to 2012... I was able to get my old custom tool palettes into 2012 by opening the Content Browser and idropping them. However I noticed that these palettes are not 'refreshable' like they used to be. In the Palette Properties it says *This palette is not shared from a catalog*... after doing a search of that message in these forums I found this thread: [URL]....
I followed David's instructions:
1. Created a new Palette Group
2. Created a new palette in that Group
3. i-dropped tools from my custom catalog in the Content Browser onto that new palette.
Still there is no 'refresh' option...???
I recently added a block ( by dragging & dropping from our dws block library file) to our shared Tool Palettes. The block showed up properly on everone's computer the day I added it. However each morning when we restart our computers the block is no longer on the palette and I have to redrag & drop it. I thought that prerhaps I needed to export the updated toolpalette, but when I go to the customize tool palettes dialog box and right click on the toolpalette I don't see the export or import options. I am at a loss. We are using AutoCAD Architecture 2013

1-It's possible to have variables that are attached to the file?
2-It's possible to insert a block of ToolPalettes by "forcing" the layer and size with the variables created.
ex : block outlet created on the layer 0
Drawing A:
variable layer = power
variable size = 1/4
When I insert the block outlet from my Tool palettes it will be on the layer "PPOW" and perform a scale of "48"
Drawing B:
variable layer = LowPower
variable size = 3/8
When I insert the block outlet from my Tool palettes it will be on the layer"LPOW" and perform a scale of "32"
I have updated the drawing file with the paper templates which has the paper sizes as blocks. I have deleted the Paper template palette and gone via the design center to create the updated tool palette which should have the updated paper template blocks. For some reason it is still inserting the old blocks even though the new source file has the amended details.

Never had an issue with it, but in 2012 it doesn't seem to work. Instead of inserting the hatch with the layer specified in the tool palette, it assigns the hatch pattern whatever layer was used when hatching a previous area, using the hatch dialog box.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've recently installed auto cad 2007lt on our new computer. I set up numerous tool palettes with blocks that we use often. I was pulling images from the palettes to my drawing with no problem.
Today when I tried inserting an image from the tool palette it is saying that the image can not be found. I've tried under previous drawings and new templates and have been unsuccessful.
So I am trying to create a TP that has a few commands on it... the problem is I dont know where to start in order to make everything available to the others on my network...
I have created a new GROUP, dragged a palette into that group, made my commands, and they work on my PC... but how do I get them all so everone can see them. Exporting the "command tool samples" and importing it as "My layers" works, but the name is still command tool samples and breaks the actual command tool samples...

I am trying to add a block to my tool palette. I am able to add it, but when I click on the palette to add it to a drawing, it acts like it's going to work but nothing shows up in the drawing. I have added it to the source drawing, saved the source drawing, dragged it into the palette. All is well until I try to place it in a drawing. The other blocks work fine.

1 dynamic block
1 annotive block which has a scale 1:200 with an attribute.
when i'm inserting it trough the toolpalette, and my annoscale is 1:100, the annotive block is converted to the annotive scale 1:100, instead of the 1:200 wich it originally is.
I can't set the annotationscale in the toolpallete, exept when i use macro's. but this also has a drawback.
when i'm inserting the block with a macro, i have to insert a complete drawing wich contains only this one block.This block contains dynamic parameters (i can't add dynamic parameters outside of the blockeditor)
When this block (dwg) is inserted, i explode the block so it becomes the dynamic block again. but the block cannot be redefined, because the actual inserted block is a dwg file.
Is it a drawback of the use of the toolpalette and dynamic / annotive blocks?

All the blocks on the tool palette shows correct and the proerties of the blocks are correct but when I decide to drag a block in from the tool palette, no matter which block of 30, the same block inserts. I can't locate dynamic door blocks in Autocad 2012 for Mac. I am a student, and my course instructions read to insert a door from: Architectural Tab on Tool palettes (TP) Dynamic Block Name: Door-Imperial. But I do not show that tool palette, nor am I able to locate any dynamic blocks in my content palette.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am new to using Tool Palettes. I have created a folder on my C: drive which contains all my tool palettes. Right now, I get the symbol of a circle with a line drawn through it and cannot use my tool palettes.
In the Options tab, I noticed that there are the "Tool Palettes File Locations" and also "Authoring Palette File Locations". What is the difference between the two? Do I need to do something to both so I can use my tool palettes without difficulty?
I am currently using Autocad 2014 and I am attempting to insert a dynamic block from a tool palette. I would like to click on a dynamic block in the tool palette and have it prompt for the (uniform) scale. It seems simple enough but either all the dynamic properties are lost or it is inserted at 1"x1" (the scale of my original block). How to get this to work?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSince AutoCAD 2013, I'm not able to use tracking when inserting block from tool palette. Example, I want to insert a door at 6 inches from a wall. I click the door from the tool palette, leave a tracking point at the wall corner, move the cursor in the right direction and type 6 follow by enter. The door is insert randomly in the drawing. It was working perfectly in previous release.
Actually I had to insert the door anywhere in the drawing and moving it at the right place and rotate it if required, it is very tedious.
We use autocad 2011 and we are trying to create a new tool palette. We have no problem dragging and dropping to our existing tool palettes, but we can not drop to anything new we create. We do not have any read/write issues. I have tried saving workspace, restarting CAD just erases the palette i tried to create.

I can create a maco to explode a block with no path, but can't remember how to include the "*" in a file with a folder path to explode the block while its being inserted. Because of spaces in the file name, quotes (") must be around the path.

The issue is the laptop tool palettes will reside on the C:/ drive, which is not our network drive. Is there an easy way to switch drives without changing each item, on each tool palette?
I have the same directory tree on the laptops C:/ drive, the only exception is the drive letter.
I use this palette all the time and keep the icon displayed (in hidden form) on every session that I open. I started AutoCad this morning and "external reference" icon was not displayed on the screen. I went to the tools tab and selected the external reference palette. A box was displayed that could not be hidden and all screen function were stopped until I closed this box.
I went to customize tool palettes and compared it to the properties palette and they looked the same. I want to get my external reference palette function back to the way it was.
I'm trying to save blocks to a new tool palette and it won't let me.
I'm doing everything I've always done. Right click on the tool palette, click "new palette" then change the name.
the new tab appears on the tool palette. I go then to drag the block from my drawing to the newly made palette.
As I drag over the tool palette with block, the black line appears on the palette as it should, but when I drop it to the palette its not there. I can drag and drop that same block to any of the other tabs on the tool palette whether it's a default one or one that I've made previously. I've done this process a thousand times, it always worked without a problem. All of a sudden it doesn't. I havent made any changes to my pc or os except for the microsoft updates.
I've also tried to load the blocks from design center to the new palette, no success!
I've checked to make sure tool palettes are saving to the right file....
