I have a tool palette with our typical symbols which are blocks. All the blocks on the tool palette shows correct and the proerties of the blocks are correct but when I decide to drag a block in from the tool palette, no matter which block of 30, the same block inserts. How do I get the palette to insert the correct block.Using ARCH 2013, 64-bit, windows 7.

I would like to click on a dynamic block in the tool palette and have it prompt for the (uniform) scale. It seems simple enough but either all the dynamic properties are lost or it is inserted at 1"x1" (the scale of my original block). How to get this to work?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSince AutoCAD 2013, I'm not able to use tracking when inserting block from tool palette. Example, I want to insert a door at 6 inches from a wall. I click the door from the tool palette, leave a tracking point at the wall corner, move the cursor in the right direction and type 6 follow by enter. The door is insert randomly in the drawing. It was working perfectly in previous release.
Actually I had to insert the door anywhere in the drawing and moving it at the right place and rotate it if required, it is very tedious.
I am trying to add a block to my tool palette. I am able to add it, but when I click on the palette to add it to a drawing, it acts like it's going to work but nothing shows up in the drawing. I have added it to the source drawing, saved the source drawing, dragged it into the palette. All is well until I try to place it in a drawing. The other blocks work fine.

1 dynamic block
1 annotive block which has a scale 1:200 with an attribute.
when i'm inserting it trough the toolpalette, and my annoscale is 1:100, the annotive block is converted to the annotive scale 1:100, instead of the 1:200 wich it originally is.
I can't set the annotationscale in the toolpallete, exept when i use macro's. but this also has a drawback.
when i'm inserting the block with a macro, i have to insert a complete drawing wich contains only this one block.This block contains dynamic parameters (i can't add dynamic parameters outside of the blockeditor)
When this block (dwg) is inserted, i explode the block so it becomes the dynamic block again. but the block cannot be redefined, because the actual inserted block is a dwg file.
Is it a drawback of the use of the toolpalette and dynamic / annotive blocks?

Last week it took maybe 1 second. It doesn't sound like much, but we use alot of blocks everyday, and waiting 5 seconds every time gets annoying. Especially when it used to be almost instantaneous. We also have our blocks in our template. The template is on the server. If you type insert, and insert the block that way, it loads fast, like it used to using the tool palette.
Most of the blocks are simple text or shapes. None are dynamic. We also have some hatches in there, that are unaffected by the delay. They insert quickly.
Another thing has changed. The time it takes to change to a different tab on the palette has grown. A tab with about 10 blocks used to take about 6 seconds to load, now takes a good 30 seconds. And a tab with about 30 blocks that used to take about 12 seconds, now takes about a minute and a half! Once the tool palette and each tab has been opened for the first time, say first thing in the morning when cad is first opened, the delay is gone. They switch between tabs with no delays.
The only thing that I know of that has changed that coincides with this is last week we made a few changes to the template. We removed a few sheets that we no longer use. Could this have done something? The blocks are still in the template. We have 3 pc's that are affected in the same way, at the same time.
I've tried a few things to remedy this. I am by no means a cad guru. I created a .dwg with all the blocks in it. Made another tab on the tool palette using the blocks from the .dwg. Still the same delay. I tried creating a new palette using the design center and the blocks .dwg I made, but cad locks up on me and I have to restart cad. I tried that twice.

We are running AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010 on Vista Business 64bit.
Is there a short cout to getting to the source drawing file containing block data? Drilling down into the Program Files folder is tedious in the heat of getting drawings done.

View 6 Replies View RelatedIm currently creating a custom menu to insert blocks on request. I have set up the following macro which seems to work fine:-
^c^c-insert;HVLV-UB610x125;;;;
However when pulling in a specific block the drawing the layer becomes 0.
Ive tryed adding this additional macro line before the above one which fixes the problem :-
^C^C-LAYER;M;E-LIGHTING-CEIL;C;R;;;ORTHOMODE;1;^c^c-insert;HVLV-UB610x125;;;;
However now the block retains its layer properties ......ie E-Lighting-Ceil (or what ever I name it) but it drops the block
in RED, instead of its original colour.
Question is Im looking for a macro that will bring in my block as per ^c^c-insert;HVLV-UB610x125;;;;
but also bring it in to a drawing on its original layer that its saved to.
please note that even thou the first code brings it in at layer 0, the blocks layer is also inserted into the DWG however its just not associated to it ..... hence the user has to select the block once he or she has brought it in and then change the layer from the layers manager manually. This is not ideal.
just to recap i just need a macro that will A) bring in a block from a location. And B) keep all the properties it has when it is brought in.
Whenever I insert a block into my drawing from the Tool Palette, Autocad creates a Text Style and Dimension Style,both named Annotative. This happens on any drawing, with any block.
I can purge them after the block has been inserted. They are NOT nested in the blocks. I have tried recreated the tool. Nothing seems to be working.
I am working on a lisp routine that automatically inserts a parameter in a block and then ads a stretch command to it. But the problem is that for the stretch command u need to select the drawn parameter. So my plan was to get the name of this parameter (car (entsel)) and feet it to my lisp program. But when i do that it doesn't work because autocad demands a parameter.

I've created a pallette but unsure how to get my symbols into the pallette.
tool palettes from a directory called ACAD2008 to ACAD2012. Tool palettes can't find the associated blocks because the support path still points to the ACAD200 Directory.
Is there a way to "globally" change the associated path? There are too many blocks to think about changing each one manually.
It's been too long since I created one of these for Toolbars. I need a macro that will insert and explode a block. I just need the block's content, not the block itself. I can create a maco to explode a block with no path, but can't remember how to include the "*" in a file with a folder path to explode the block while its being inserted. Because of spaces in the file name, quotes (") must be around the path.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a series of block references in a tool palette which I want to explode once inserted. Simple I think, just set the 'explode' property on the tool palette icon.
Wrong. What actually happens is that in my case where the block refernce is simply two blocks inserted on different layers, the tool palette will insert onto the layer specified, and then explode, moving each block from its original later, onto the layer the host block is inserted on.
For example:
BlockRef_A consists of two enties:
BockRef_1 on Layer1Blockref_2 on Layer2
Using the tool palette to insert and explode using the 'use current' for the destination layer, I get the following:
BlockRef_1 on 0
BlockRef_2 on 0
Both the destionation layer (Layer1 Layer2) already exist in the target drawing.
It looks to me like autocad is importing the block, exploding it, moving it to the required layer.
This doesn't happen to any other entities, if there's a block that consists of a mix of parts, only the block references within it get moved to the destination layer.

I am trying to set up a standard text style converter for multiple companies (32 in all). All are using the same style names, but they change the fonts for their preferences.
What I am trying to do is come up with a tool pallete / tool bar macro to change all styles in a drawing to the new fonts they choose.
Here is my string: ^C^C-STYLE;TITLE-1;COMIC SANS MS;;;;;;;
What am I missing so the spaces in the font name are not read as ENTER in the command? I have tried <font here>, 'font here', "font here", <font here>, (font here)
If there is an easier way other than copy and paste into a new template with them defined.
I like that in the hatch command, you can select multiple boundaries at a single time, hit ok, and be done with your hatching. However, when hatching from the tool palette, you can only select one boundary at a time, forcing you to constantly repeat the command. Is there a system variable that controls this type of behavior for the tool palette?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe are starting to install AutoCAD 2014 on our machines. On one of our machines, the user can't get double click editing to work on inserts. I can open the drawing on my machine and it works fine. She is using the same profile and workspace and both machines have SP1 installed. Double click editing works for other objects (MLeaders, Text...) but not for inserts or their attributes. The only way she can edit the attribute text is through the property window.

Let me rephrase that, in the Tool palette they show up, but the dwg's that they reference are missing. I have 4 users that are currently testing Civil 3D 2013 and all of them are missing the files.

2-It's possible to insert a block of ToolPalettes by "forcing" the layer and size with the variables created.
ex : block outlet created on the layer 0
Drawing A:
variable layer = power
variable size = 1/4
When I insert the block outlet from my Tool palettes it will be on the layer "PPOW" and perform a scale of "48"
Drawing B:
variable layer = LowPower
variable size = 3/8
When I insert the block outlet from my Tool palettes it will be on the layer"LPOW" and perform a scale of "32"

View 3 Replies View RelatedEvery time I attempt to insert a block with an attribute in it from my tool pallet I get the error FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Acess Violation Reading 0x0020 Exception at 4260af08u.
If I insert a block without attributes it works fine. I even tried building a block in 2013 and then inserting it from the toolpallet, still fatal error's out.
It appears that the Layer Filters functionality is broken again with 2013. Unchecking the "Apply layer filter to layer toolbar" disables the function of layer filters in the tool palette.

In ACA 2011 this only works for lines/polylines. Plus the wall, door and window palettes are gone. How can I retreave them?
I am creating dynamic blocks but having a hard time adding them to a pallette correctly. In my block folders from which I create my pallettes all the blocks there are separate exploded drawings which ACAD turns into a block when you input them into your drawing via a pallette. The trouble is that when I save my dynamic blocks in this folder I'm saving it as an already blocked drawing, I assume this is the problem as I have to explode it each time I insert it. Is there way to avoid having to explode each time I insert?
