View 1 RepliesI had a picture in MS Paint and there it had a certain size. I took it over to Illustrator and suddenly the pic has a new size.
Anyway, is it possible to scale the picture by px instead of %?
Every new document seems to open with a default text size of 12 pt. (or 0.167 inches). I am a sign maker and my typical artboard size is often 120" x 120" or larger.
Is there a way to change the default text size so that new documents open with a text size of, say, 1 inch (or 3 inches, etc)?
As the title says Illustrator will not let me change typeface or type size. I am working on CS6 and Windows 8 platform. When I click the type button, the type size and selection does not appear, it stays with the stroke and variable width profile selectors. Is there any fix without unistall reinstall?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've read several things in this forum but nothing convenient. In the past I though I was possible to change the stroke thickness with no document open and that worked for all the new documents yet to come. Well, it doesn't. The default stroke size is 1pt and I want it to change to f.e. 0,25pt. But how?
View 16 Replies View RelatedI am working in Illustrator CS4 and I am currently having a problem resizing text boxes to either enlarge them to add more type or reduce them to eliminate unused space within the active box. When I place the cursor on the corner of an active box, I get a square symbol instead of an arrow which would indicate that I can change size. All I can do with the cursor now is move the position of an active box.

When i save a file "for web" as a jpeg with a specific pixel size (320x50 for example) and then send it by email to someone, when they open it the dimensions somehow change. Even though on my mac when i "get info" from the jpeg the dimensions are correct.
On digital tutors i learned that the blob brush size can be changed interactively. But since i use a mac in combination with a cintiq and a swiss german keyboard i cannot use the bracket keys.
They also don't work when i assign the us keyboard settings. How can the brush size of the blob brush be changed interactively?
Is there a way to change the size of the text that comes out with the printers marks?

As I recall, you used to be able to change the artboard size when you first hit shift + O. There was a window for it at the top of the screen. Now,..for some reason that option is not there. It only gives me the ability to change the x and y coordinates. I have to double click the artboard tool to change the size of the artboard(s). How do I get back that ability?
I am unable to change the size of an image or text box. It allows me to click on the image or text box but does not allow me to change the size of it with the mouse. I can change it by right clicking on scale and entering in details but I am not able to change it manually.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI find the default interface in CS6 difficult to read as the menu/tool labels seem very small to me. I can manipulate via Windows, but then the fonts in the windows of all my other apps are too big.
Is there a way to change the size of the fonts in labels in the user interface within Illustrator itself? I thought there used to be a way in preferences some where, but that was a long time ago - maybe even pre-CS?
I use and action to print, save, save to desktop as PDF(using custom preset), close.New acocunt I am working on requests 2 printouts, but cannot record that in the action. If I can edit my actions. Am inexpereinced with this code but my guess is this is the area:

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a task I need to perform often. I create charts that have descriptive texts below bars. There are two lines of text... a company name, then data on the second line. The text is at a slant, so each bar has its own separate text (i.e., I can't create it as one continues piece of text... but the text below each bar —the two lines— are connected). I want the first line of text to be 8 points and 100% black. The second line of text is to be 7 points and 50% black. So let's say the text is 8 pt Arial. I highlight the second line and run the action on it to reduce it down to 7 points. No problem. Then I run a second action (ideally, I'd like to combine actions, but I can't as you'll see in a moment...) which turns that second line to 50% black. BUT... it turns BOTH lines to gray... not just the line I have highlighted. How can I stop it from doing this? It seems like if I have only certain text highlighted, it should only apply changes to that particulat text! Not ALL of it.
I'd like to combine both actions so that all I have to do is highlight the second line and run both actions. But I can't do that at the moment
I'll attach some photos that will hopefully make this make more sense.
I'm using CS6 on a Mac. The charts are initially generated online, if that makes a difference.
I would like to enlarge about 400 tiny ellipse but I need them to fit in the same space and not spread out.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI created a template 1 inch high, 3 inches wide. I have set it to get one line of text input from a .csv file created in Excel.
The text input has been set to use Arial 22pt. Sometimes my line of text is too long and the input becomes truncated on start and end of its line. I have tried to change the text to a paragraph text and using fit text to paragraph frame with limited success. Sometimes it works ok, automatically downsizing the text to fit but often it wraps to a second line with isn't visible on my finished print. So, by trial and error, changing the text smaller and smaller until I can see the full line in a print preview and it will work. Tedious, tedious, especially when my list has over 50 items. (the print preview setup may show 6 across, 10 down.
Any good way to downsize the text automatically to fit the template box? I want to have consistent output and if a short word or line fits the space I want it to use the Arial 22pt font, not stretch to fill the space available. However, if the word or line is too big to fit, I would like it to automatically shrink to fit the space.
In the title block of a my layout template I have tables inserted for revisions, drawing type, numbering etc. I have type already inserted in those blocks that I typically click on and then type in what I need it to say. My template works on all my other drawings except a particular one that I am currently working on.
When I click on the type, it automatically increases from 3/16" to 8" and enlarges the box to accommodate the new font size.
I've attached a screen. The top is before I click on the word "type" in the lower right corner and the bottom one is afterward.
