Using CS 2 on Win XP
Simple question:
am trying to edit a text layer but i am unable to open the text box to change text.
It creates a new text layer everytime i click on the layer.
I am creating a layered marine chart with reference points. I've imported the chart and am creating text layers with a reference number in them.
I have about 700 of these to add - a daunting task - but it's for a NZ coastguard unit, so is worthwhile.
The idea is to have a layer with all our reference points on it, so when a chart is updated, we can just import the chart; add back the reference points layers and print it out.
(Why? NZ baynames, danger spots etc usually have 2 names; an english name and a maori name - sometimes we have to cross reference when on the water to find the correct place).
Is creating text layers the best way of doing this?
Is there any way of increasing the size of all the text - instead of having to edit 700 text layers?
I am trying to get a white layer with see through writing which reveals the background image underneath. (Almost like I have put a stencil over a photograph). I have discovered this is called a clipping mask.
However, I am having difficulty using a clipping mask over multiple text layers. It seems to only do it to one layer directly beneath. I do not want to merge the text layers as I want to mess about with the design a fair bit.
I am trying to do text to path and I finally got it to work, but it is not bringing the text color that I assigned. Instead the text becomes a black outline of the real text. I uploaded this to the application I wanted to use it in, and the text was gone.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI often will borrow groups and layers from one document and drag them into a new or a different PS document to borrow the layers and formatting so I am not starting over from scratch with a design that I just need to re-work into a different size.
But in the last two weeks, when I drag the layers over, they start mysteriously changing into other layers that I did not drag over. What is causing this bug? It wasn't there before as I have performed this action many times in various projects. I am using PS CS6 on a Mac Book Pro.
I have made an application which gets some numbers from a server. I also want to put all these numbers in a Photoshop document (*.psd) so i can use it to make a small video with these numbers.
Now , is it possible to add something in my application (C++) so it could directly change the data in my text layers ? Is there any "library" ?

Using the JUSTIFYTEXT command you can change the justification of the text without changing its position. However this command is operated through the command bar of dynamic input. What I would like to do is to have the justification change in the quick properties this way.
I have a simple illustrator document with some text on it. The text is green. I wish to add additional text to the document in the exact shade of green that the current text is in. Believe it or not, I can't figure out how to do this. I can select the text I want to to be green and select a colour from the swatches menu, but the shades of green available there are not the exact shade of green that I need. I tried selecting my newly written text, click the eye dropper tool, and then clicked on my old text (which is in the shade of green that I want) but this frustratingly changes the font of my newly written text to the same font as the original text, without changing it's colour.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have created my own graphics from scratch with GIMP, but the resolution to this issue is eluding me.
I imported a GIF map and want to add red labels. I have no problem adding the labels, but I cannot seem to get the text colored red. Before I create the text layer, the text tool shows the color is red, but it still creates it black. All of the suggestions I've seen (yes, I've read the fine manual) reference the same things, including dragging the color from the foreground color (which I've also changed to red). Nothing I've tried seems to work. I've even saved the image as an XCF, but I have the same problem.
I am unable to change the size of an image or text box. It allows me to click on the image or text box but does not allow me to change the size of it with the mouse. I can change it by right clicking on scale and entering in details but I am not able to change it manually.

View 1 Replies View Relatedtrying to copy txt from an outside text editor and pasting them into an open, editable text layer in my workspace. The problem is that I can COPY the text fine, but when I click over to PS to paste it into the open editable text layer it either pastes the previous text from my clipboard OR it won't paste anything at all. I can then go into any other text field on a browser, spreadsheet document, a different text editor, notepad, etc and successfully paste the proper batch of text I wanted to paste into PS. Sometimes I have some rather large files open 50+megs when I notice this happen. I have to save my work and close out entirely of PS and then open it again before I can begin editing my original document again and successfully paste the text into the open editable text layer. This may last for a few COPY/PASTE sessions of additional text in additional text layers, but then begins displaying the symptoms I described above.
I am on Win7 on an AlienWare M17XR3 laptop with 16G RAM and AMD Radeon HD 6900M Series display adapter.I assume it's either in my PS performance settings which I have PS using 10413MB RAM and has over 350G scratch disk space. If it's not that I guess my laptop system performance settings which I've never tinkered with since I purchased it.
I cannot change the leader text position to be aligned next to the leader line, the text is positioned offset from the line, how do I correct this .

I have a plan with lots and lot numbering. I made the lot number text annotative and matching view orientation. But when it rotates in the view it rotates about the left justification point instead of middle as inserted into drawing. So I inserted lot numbert text into drawing and changed text to non-annotative, but now i can not change the text rotation angle unless i use rotate command on each individual piece of text (was trying to pick all text and change in properties box). Using feature lines to assist in grading design so not sure if this is an autocad problem or a civil 3d 2012 problem. I can rotate dtext made or inserted in drawing.

The text cursor disappears when I try to enter it into the rectangle and when I place it on the edge of the rectangle, it rurns into a slanted "A" and allows texting on the border of the rectangle. Corel Paint Shop Photo Pro X3 (build date Sept 7, 2010). This software came with my new HP Pavilion dv7.

This Works Fine But How can i WRAP TEXT....of Address field.
When I insert text with either the TEXT command or MTEXT command, the text is displayed mirrored. This doesn't seem to have anything to do with the MIRRTEXT variable because that is used when I'm actually mirroring the text. In my case, the text is mirrored as soon as I insert it. How can I get it back to normal? Is there a variable I'm missing?
I'm using AutoCAD LT 2012 .
i switched gimp 2.6 to 2.8 and new text tool behaves strangely, as i remember in gimp 2.6 when i try to change text content with selecting old text and pasting new text i could use same text size and same font with my old text without doing anything but now in the gim 2.8 whenever i try to change content of a text layer i need to choose again font and text size from toolbox options, but why do i have to do this, i have a text placed on my image with a certain font and certain font size and i just want to alter my text conten not the size of text or font , it changes automatically to back text size and font whatever i used last time in another work.
summary: i want to change my text content without setting my font and font size properties, i want to use my text layers old properties
I have a basic document in Illustrator CC. The document is just text boxes for an organization chart.
When I go to change text in a text box, specifically trying to select text and edit the text - their is no text selection. I cannot go into a text box and double-click to select text, nothing selects and/or their is not selection color.
How do I fix text selection?
I was wondering if there is a way that AutoCad can edit one text string and the same change can affect another text string, instead of editing the same thing twice.

I have text 1: "abc"
text2: "cba"
ect.
I want them all to become:
"new abc"
"new cba"

I know i can change all text to something new but then its all the same. + all texts are different. its alot of work to do manually.
I would like to increase the font size in many text layers at a time by selecting them in the layers panel. The font increases, but the text boxes don't expand to fit the increased size text. So I am having to make each box bigger manually. Is there a way to have the boxes expand to fit bigger text automatically through the layers panel?
