AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Unable To Change Text Rotation Angle
Jan 19, 2012
I have a plan with lots and lot numbering. I made the lot number text annotative and matching view orientation. But when it rotates in the view it rotates about the left justification point instead of middle as inserted into drawing. So I inserted lot numbert text into drawing and changed text to non-annotative, but now i can not change the text rotation angle unless i use rotate command on each individual piece of text (was trying to pick all text and change in properties box). Using feature lines to assist in grading design so not sure if this is an autocad problem or a civil 3d 2012 problem. I can rotate dtext made or inserted in drawing.
I've received a drawing from a client today and in it there are several text styles. One has Arial as its font. When this text style is current and we insert some dtext AutoCAD does not prompt for the text rotation angle, it uses the last rotation angle we used.
As far as I know there is no system variable that controls this behaviour, or have I missed it. Other delivered text styles do not have this problem.
I have a property line that is N 36d19'52" E but needs to be N 12d52'18" E. The obvious and calculated rotation angle would be 23d27'34" but when I rotate the line by the calculated angle it doesn't rotate to the right angle. It's off by 0d11'10"!? When I draw a line by bearing at N12d52'18" E and inquiry the angle between the property line and the drawn line the angle difference is in fact 23d27'34".
I have have an aligned dimension that does not rotate in a paper space print window. Contour labels, alignment labels all rotate except for the dimension.
I am drawing an isometric drawing. In order to draw a dimension line, the tutor says I have to change the obliquing angle to s0 for left plane and -30 for right plane.
I could find anything in: Modify Dimension Style Where should I change this angle?
How can I revised the line type so that the text reads in the same direction. The linetype text auto adjust to read correctly in Model Space. However In the plan and profile drawing the site is rotated 90 degrees so when the text changes direction from northwest to northeast and the line text changes direction. I need for the text to be in the same direction the entire length of the line.
I am working on a project with several sheets. The viewport rotation (or angle) on each sheet is different. How can I find out the viewport rotation (or angle)?
I placed all my leaders (mleaders were used) and text, then I had to change my viewport rotation 180 deg. Now all my text is upside down. I change my UCS to view and new mleaders and text (which I don't need, I've already labeled everything) come in at the correct orientation, but all my original labels are rotated. How can I make these labels update? I'd really like to avoid having to relabel everything.

Using the mvsetup, a colleague of mine rotated the model space in the viewport. I cannot determine what angle was used, is there an setting in the properties manager to show the rotation angle or other way to find out?
I would like to build an expression that I can use in a label at a structure in a profile view to show the horizontal angle change on the alignment at the structure.
Of course, in the available structure expressions, we do not have the alignment delta angle at that point even though I have a referenced alignment in my pipe network.
Our subdivision code has minimum drop across manhole for different ranges of horizontal angle change.
I want to create a label that shows the minimum drop required at a manhole off it's referenced alignment and I would like to see it on the profile view, because that is where the drop value is relevant.
Is there a way to use text that will automatically orient itself to a 0 angle (left to right) in a viewport even if the viewport is rotated 90-degrees, or any degrees for that matter. Due to some pretty messy oriented viewports, My texts are rotated all over the place depending on what sheet I'm looking at.
I went to content browser and loaded the "Plan Elevation Label" onto my tool palette when I go to place the label in the drawing it prompts for elevation and nothing else.
How can you change the rotation on the screen accept to use the rotation command?
The tag itself is referencing a block I went to the block and changed the block now if I go to insert the multi view block it prompts for rotation but not to edit the attribute is there any way to get it to do both?
Just exactly what does "Angle" represent when placing a "Rotation Parameter" in a DBlock?
I've tried a bunch of diff angles and haven't noticed a difference. I'm trying to figure out just what effect diff values would have. I thought that maybe when rotating the block instance, I'd only be able rotate it "so far" (270 degrees in the example I've shown). But it still went well beyond that.
I have some 300 images, all handheld shots done in an on-location studio set. They all need varying amounts of image rotation since they're handheld. There's a beaded curtain in the background, so manually I use the ruler tool, draw a line along a strand of beads, and then image/rotate/arbitrary.
I need to create an action that will (1) do the arbitrary rotation and then (2) save and close the file.
However, when I record this, the value of the rotation of the sample file I'm working is what gets recorded (not surprising). In other words, if image A needs 0.28 degrees of rotation, that's not what I want for image B which might need -0.15 degrees instead. The action recorded 0.28.
Is there a way to create an action that will simply rotate according to the ruler once I've drawn it?
I've been using Corel Draw! 8 for years and my favorite tool was the angle of rotation. For example, I would select an object, usually a rectangle that has the point of rotation at end of the narrow rectangle. As I rotated it, I could see how much the angle of rotation in degrees is. Therefore I could type a value in the box and the rectangle would rotate some many degrees. Fast forward to my Corel Draw 12. Now when I click on the same object, the box will display what the angle is in degrees already based on the circular angle startingaat the nine o'clock position. I need it to say ZERO and I can't find the setting to set it at zero
what I am drawing is I rotate a narrow rectange and basically creating a dial face for instruments.
every one now a day i am making isometric drawings so i m little bit confuse in that i am using dimension and change the oblige angle text of dimension so is it right way or not ????
I am referencing a survey file in my site plan. Both were created using Civil 3D. I want to change the color of all of the reference files' layers to 250, so I selected them all in the layer properties manager and did so.
However, some layers are not changing colors. One layer is red in the reference file, but comes through on the site plan as magenta. Some Civil3D structures are also refusing to change colors.
I selected all of the objects in the reference file and made sure their colors were "by layer," but it did not completely fix the problem.
I somehow changed some settings that I would like to function.
1. I am unable to see my object rotate during the rotation command. What did I do?
2. During annotation in paper-space I am no longer able to click on my text to change, but must right click the selection, select properties, go to contents and click the ... in order to edit. How to I make it so I can simply double click the mtext box to edit? SOLVED: PICKFIRST RESET TO 1
3. In paper space I am unable to select any of my mtext boxes..what did I do? SOLVED: PICKFIRST RESET TO 1
4. When attempting to create a RAY I used to be able to see the RAY before I hit enter to set it, now I can't see it until after hitting enter a second time (after the initiatial command).
5. When selecting objects, I must enter the command first and then select the objects, I can no longer select the objects first. SOLVED: PICKFIRST RESET TO 1
I want to know why I can't change coordinate of points while importing points from Points menu?
I created new file, assigned any coordinate system to the model. Opened Import points windows there, created new file format which there I assigned Coordinate zone transform to the coordinate system of the text file and imported my text file. But the coordinates of points didn't changed or transformed. When I do it by Survey in Toolspace its works good. I want to know whether I did any wrong or it is problem of software.
I use AutoCADCivil 2013 64 bit in Windows 7 64 bit!
I coded a utility to work with entities rotation. This is a part of a bigger project so i just cutt and pasted together the part of code that have this problem.
Basically i get the selection, i clone it (because this is a copy and rotate) and through a draw jig class i rotate all the entities. This works well but just sometimes when the command ends it happened this weird thing, the entities appears in the draw but they can't be selected. And all get back to the normally after saving, closing and reopening the draw.
This is the utility.
public void Run(object param) { Document doc = Application.DocumentManager.MdiActiveDocument; Editor ed = doc.Editor; Database db = doc.Database; List<Entity> toRotate = new List<Entity>(); PromptSelectionOptions pso = new PromptSelectionOptions(); pso.MessageForAdding = " Select objects"; pso.AllowDuplicates = false; pso.AllowSubSelections = false; PromptSelectionResult psr = [code]........
The defaul label style for the Elevation of points is set to 3 decimal places. We are trying to change the elevation display to 2 decimal places. We have tried the directions in the following discussion: [URL].......
Which is:
Toolspace
->Settings -->Drawing name --->Edit Drawing Settings ---->Ambient Settings ----->Elevation ------>Precision -> We modify from 3 to 2 decimal places.
It does not modify the display settings.
Also:
Toolspace
->Settings -->Drawing --->Point ---->Label Styles ----->(right-click) Edit label styles ------>Layout ------->Text -------->Contents --------->click on the "..." (three points) button
(Open "Text Component Editor - Contents"
--------->Select Point Elevation in the driop down list. ---------->Precision: Set to 0.01 ------------>Ok, Apply, etc...
I created sample lines and section views for my road projects. I set all line works to appropriate layers except for "Segment and Points". Cannot change from layer "0".
I right click the existing grade on my section views, click "edit section style", click "display", then change the layer of Segments and points and click "OK", "apply".
Go back to my drawing, verify the layer but still layer "0". I tried so many times, read the manual, call friends but no luck. I am tempted to "explode" my drawing.
