Jun 28, 2012Below is a .jpg copy of the Vitruvian Man that I bought on istockphoto.com. I would like to get rid of the gold background and keep the black line work. I would like what was the gold background to be transparent. I would like to convert this .jpg to a vector file using Adobe Illustrator CS5. To do this I assume I somehow use the Live Trace feature but I'm not exactly sure how.
I would then like to be able to select the black linework and change it to red. Does this mean I need to somehow convert the drawing into a collection of indivdual paths and anchor points? When I've used Live Trace before, I had the tolerance set to about 45 and Simple Trace. This indeed got rid of the gold background but gave me no individual paths or points I could select and change the color of. The only thing I could select was the image as a whole, not individual points or paths. It was the entire image within a box. This occurred whether I used the black arrow tool (Selection tool ) or the white arrow tool (Direct selection tool). If no, then how could I change the black linework to red?

Mar 1, 2012I need to produce about 100 videos from a single project changing some images and texts.
I found out that editing aepx files for the project I can change the images paths and do the renders with aerender.exe without needing to enter AE.
The problem are the texts, I found the text part in the aepx, even in Hex format, but when I try to swap one hex word with another, the change simply doesn't reflect in AE nor aerender. It just display the original text.
Is there a way to change the text content directly in the aepx to let me automate the 100 avi production without even entering After Effects?

May 26, 2012I have a layout for an ebook with some important black and white bitmap illustrations in tiff., 300 dpi. These has appeared ok on print, but not on screen, reading the same pdf-file. This is partly because there are texts in fontsize 5-6 pt. People tell me I have to convert the drawings, or at least the text, to vector graphics. Question is now - since at the moment I have CS6 avaiable - can I open these tiff.s in Illustrator, change the text to vector and then save in a format, that can be inserted in the Word2010 layout? (You might wonder why I use Word, but it was a question of economy, when the project was started up).

Jan 1, 2013The characters of a word in Hebrew need to reverse their text direction despite the font being Adobe Hebrew which you would expect to be in the correct direction. However this text was copied in from Word.
I can't locate the menu option, e.g. Window>Type>Paragraph fails to show any RTL option. That the text is selected seems indicated by the bar at the top of the screen showing point size etc.

Feb 24, 2011I have about forty maps created in DP6. Each of these has numerous pieces of text within it. These include title, map number, descriptive notes, individual letters such as A B C, scales, map symbols etc etc. These are currently all in Arial with some parts being bolded.
My question is:
In any one map can I select all the text within that map and change the character of the font? Ie can I grab all the text and change it from arial to a serif font? Or change all the text to a different colour?
I hope it can be done. I have done a bit of experimenting but have not found a way yet.

Believe it or not, I can't figure out how to do this. I can select the text I want to to be green and select a colour from the swatches menu, but the shades of green available there are not the exact shade of green that I need. I tried selecting my newly written text, click the eye dropper tool, and then clicked on my old text (which is in the shade of green that I want) but this frustratingly changes the font of my newly written text to the same font as the original text, without changing it's colour.

If I use the eyedropper to pick up a color, it captures that color and acts like it is applied but object/text continues to stay the older color. With text I have to use the type tool, highlight all of the text, and then select a color. This process if very annoying when I need to highlight and change several text boxes at once. I would like to just be able to click on the object/text and use the eyedropper tool to capture whatever color I need.

Aug 28, 2013I could edit an existing PDF made by another company, just change a few lines of text. The original file was around 3 mb. I add in a website, extension to the phone number, switch out the fax (That's it!) and save as a new version. It's now almost 30 mb. Why?? My work email won't let me send something of that size.. I tried saving as smallest file size w/ preserving editing and it came out to be 15+ mb.
