My question is How can I change the size of the outside rectangle while keeping the inside rectangle 3mm smaller with a 2mm scalloped corner.
Finding linear dimensions in the find/replace dialog in the edit menu? X6 doesn't seem to be working like prior versions and I can't find and group select dimensions.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I draw an object it is difficult to get it to an exact size. When I adjust the size in the property bar the percentage changes. I need it to remain at 100% because I later apply a percentage change to it. Is there a way to reset the percentage value to 100% without the dimensions reverting back to their original value?
Alternatively, is there a way to create an object from the property bar alone?
We just started using X6 here at work, we were using X3. In X3 I never had a problem with page dimensions, with X6 anytime I go 200" or more in either dimension I get blank PDFs. 199" by 199" works just fine.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOften I find that if I have a bitmap within coreldraw and click edit bitmap, do some edits, and then save and return to draw, the dimensions have changed very slightly.
For example I just edited a bitmap that was 24.25" x 9.5" by clicking edit bitmap. I then made some tone adjustments and brushed out a spot, and hit save in photopaint. Now back in draw, I find the image has been scaled slightly down to 24.25" x 9.477" (9.447 instead of 9.5)

is it possible to display dimensions when you select the object (Appeared inside the object ).
As because i have to look for the property bar again and again for the dimensions since my eyes are soring as it appears in very less size. If it appears the inside the object with appealing big size, then it could be easier for the user to note the size instantly despite of observing the property bar.
I am having a problem trying to get text to fit to exact dimensions. Here is a link to a graphic representation of the problem I will explain below: [URL] ..........
This is an example of a plaque I'm working on. The red box Q will be a photograph while the black box will be text (represented by the blue lines). I have a specific body of text that needs to fit inside the black box such that the left margin (segment AB) is exactly 1/2 inch from box Q. Further, the text should also be exactly 1/2 inch from box Q at segment BC, such that the top of the text meets this 1/2 inch margin.
I can't make the text fit correctly. If you notice the text line labeled Z, you'll see that the top of the text does not reach the segment BC, meaning that the distance between box Q and the top of the text Z is much greater than 1/2 inch. If this is the case, the picture in box Q will be surrounded by unequal space on the right (AB) as compared to the bottom (BC). Furthermore, the text beginning at point A and the text labeled X also need to reach the exact margins of the black box to meet the exact dimensions of the borders of the final piece.
When I use something like Text > Paragraph Text Frame > Fit Text to Shape, what happens is the line labeled Y clearly sits to low, making the line spacing force line Z too far from segment BC.
I haven't used illustrator in a while, but for classes, I have to set the image to 300dpi and 800x800 px, and I can only keep one or the other, so how do I keep both? My art board is 800x800px, I've set my doc raster effects settings to 300dpi.

View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I draw an object in Illustrator, I am not getting the small gray box that shows its dimensions as I draw. Also not getting the green "intersect" tip when I begin drawing at a corner of the document. I'm using Mac 10.8.2. I have both a laptop and a desktop, and the laptop works fine. It's on the Mac Pro that this problem happens. I checked to make sure all preferences are the same on both machines. I updated Illustrator also.
View 5 Replies View RelatedRandom objects on my artboard tend to change dimensions and/or coordinates on its own. The difference is by a few thousandth of a decimal. I'm not sure when this happens but it's usually happening to objects I'm not working on in the moment. And once and a while an object would refuse to comply when I try to readjust the dimension or coordinates.
Why this keeps happening and what I can do to stop it?
FYI: I am using CS5 on a Macbook Pro.
Sure would be handy if there was a way to determine size/dimesions without opening in Illustrator.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to upload a .svg file to a t shirt printing site. The image is to be printed on a sleeve therefore the dimentions need to be small (5 inch x 5 inch when uploaded). Every time I upload the file, it is returning information that the file is too big : 1261 px x 1323 px, 10.5 inch x 11.0 inch.
When I try to reduce the image size in Illustrator, the dimensions are still the same when I upload it?!?!? It is quite a complex design.

I want to write a script for Illustrator that will apply a step and repeat as a transform effect based on the dimensions of the artboard. I've figured out how to get the dimensions of the artboard, but I'm at a loss as to how to apply a transform effect with a script. It looks like it might be in the Matrix suite, but none of the descriptions there make much sense to me.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am using Illustrator CS5 on a MacBook Pro running 10.9.1. When I make new objects their dimensions are not precise, although I am using the application bar to spec the sizes. When I use the built-in calculator function to resize the objects, the errors grow.
For example: rectangle, 7" x 10", intended size. RESULT: 7.0124" x 10.1251". This rectangle has no fill, its rule is 1'.
When I use the calculator to make it 1/9 of the intended size, the result I get should be 0.7778" x 1.111". Instead, the result is 0.0.7653 in x 1.108 in.
I have a 900 x 500 px image in Adobe Illustrator, which overlaps a bit the canvas on the left side.
When I open this file with Corel, it adjusts my graphics so that it's centered on the screen. The AI file is centered on another point. Also, the canvas Corel creates is A4 sized. I always have to resize the canvas and then manually adjust the position of my graphics.
Question: How can I save an AI file so that when I open it at Corel, the position and size of the canvas will be exactly the same?
Having a really annoying issue that I've noticed since the latest CC update. If I have, let's say, a square of 100 x 100 mm in Illustrator and I copy it and switch to Photoshop, create a new document using the clipboard as the preset, it gets the mm dimensions wrong. My understanding is this should be consistent and not effected by things like DPI/PPI and I've ever had the problem before. It's effecting everyone in our studio and we're all running the Mac version of CC.

- illustrator: 6px x 6px

I'm learning Illustrator CS6 and I've got a document with some artboards. I select the Artboard tool and resize the artboard without any issues. However, I've seen lots of videos where a little box shows while the artboard is being resized and it shows X:... Y:...
I have googled this extensively but no luck. Is it a Mac-specific feature? I'm using Windows 7. How do I turn it on?
I am sizing illustrator artwork to be specific pixel dimensions (ex: 294 x 76 px). I slice by "making" slice (object/slice/make). I then export by saving for web & devices. When I then preview the artwork I see the file size is 295 x 77px the wrong size by one pixel. all artwork is expanded prior to being sliced so there are no drop-shadows or effects messing with the slices sizing.

For the sake of a clean test: I create a new doc, using the New Document Profile: Print.
Select Rectangle Tool, click on artboard, type in 300px for width. ENTER.
In inches, it measures as 4.1667in. Why?
I expect it to be precisely 1in.
Also, if I punch in 300pt, it comes out to be 4.1667in as well.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I import images (by dragging image into document), these often start off at a scaled size and with fractional dimensions, e.g. width 117.84px.
Is there a way to import images at their original dimensions?
I have a multi layer doc. Many of the vectors peek out of the artboards dimensions. I need a clean trim to the exact dimensions. I was playing with the shape finder but did not get the results I wanted. What is the best way to trim off any vectors outside the artboard.
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen we import something from illustrator or indesign as a smart object, for some reason the objects width and height will not keep their dimensions in proportion.
When the asset is first imported as a smart object it says the width and height are exactly 100%. However after that if you try to change the dimensions they will be out of proportion, usually the width will be 100% but the height will be out by about 1% to begin with. When you scale up, the percentages fall further and further apart. See image attached.
This has become a real problem for our workflow as the creative director insists we must correct every layer which has this issue by typing in the sizes manually, but then this doesnt always fix the problem either depending on which version of photoshop you are using.
