Illustrator :: Way To Get Dimension Text To Highlight Along With Actual Dimensions
May 13, 2013
Is there a way to get the dimension text to highlight along with the actual dimensions, without having to directly select it after pulling a dimension off of an object? CAD Tools 7 automatically highlighted it.
I'm trying to get the dimension text that I pull out to the side closer to the actual dimension marks. The 2 1/2" and 2" shown have a minimum distance they can get toward their dimensions. I would like it to be about half of what it is, but so far I haven't been able to find the property that changes that.
I want to insert dimension lines on this project. But instead of having an actual dimension I'd like it just to be a letter that refers back to a chart of possible dimensions for that element. How do I do this? I'm using AutoCad Architecture 2012.
I'm currently trying to dimension my working drawings, I was wondering how I could change the colour of the dimensions and dimension text so it stands out from the drawing.
In AutoCAD 2013, when I try to select a dimension object for moving, erasing, &c, the text disappears. How to get it to stay displayed? Seems to just be when using AutoCAD 2013.
I am having an issue with the lastest version of illustrator! When I try to highlight the text on the path. It goes it this diagonal/slanted direction so it looks like I'm not highlight the text at all. But it works fine, if I use the regular type too, I search forums for this such clicking the ctrl+H on my laptopt and this happens on my computer as well. The ctrl+H command did not work..
When printing, does the printer follows the bleed dimensions or my original dimension?
So if it follows the bleed dimension, (For example.) I want my name card to be 85mm x 45mm with 3mm bleed, my inital dimension (when being created) have to be 79mm x 39mm (due to minusing off 6mm on both sides)? Am I right to say that?
I vertically spaced out my text, edited the vectors of one of the characters, and now I need to put the vertical spacing back to the way it was, but I can't re-highlight my text. As a result, I cannot find a way to change the vertical spacing. What must I do? I know a solution, but it is VERY LONG and difficult, there must be a simple solution.
Im working with a clients file and being told Im missing some fonts. There is text ALL OVER this thing and it will be a major headache to see where the font problems are located. When I open a file like this in InDesign where a font is mssing, its highlighted in large pink boxes that stand out real easy. Does Illustrator have a similar feature?
I am creating a photo book using LR 4.1 and BookSmart (so that I can design my own layouts which I can't do in the LR Book module). Everything is working fine except for resizing to fit BookSmart photo containers. In LR it appears that I can only resize to an aspect ratio and not to the actual pixels. For example, I have a custom size of 5.7 x 4, which LR crops to the aspect but retains a high pixel count (4798 x 3367 for example). The optimal size for the BookSmart container is 1710 x 1200 pixels. My understanding is the BookSmart downsamples the image to fit the pixel dimensions of its container. I have read that for best results you should have your photos in the optimal size to begin with, which avoids the downsampling. In LR I can't see any other way of doing this except in the Print module, which does not connect back to my collection in Publish Services. I am hoping to avoid having to edit each photo (over 400) in Photoshop just so that the size (dimensions and pixels) is optimal for the BookSmart photo containers. Am I missing something in LR that would allow me to set the size correctly for BookSmart?
I need to print out a map the actual dimensions of the map are 36x65. For some reason, btw this has worked in the past. I have tried all the troubleshootings i can think of like, printing from a new project with default settings, printing from the view ports, even in the model worksheet. I tried making the paper size longer, i have tried window, limit, everything. But for all the reason i can not understand it always just plots exactly at 36 x55.. i have plotted things that are 36 x 80+ so i know i don't have a length limit.
I'm trying to figure something out, and it seems like it SHOULD be a simple thing... but I haven't been able to find the answer. I'm importing an avi file (from Poser 9) into AE 5.5. The dimensions are 1200x900. There need to be 48 copies of the avi movie running at the same time behind a mask made of circles on a grid. (If you've ever seen the Coca-Cola commercials from the 90's where all the disks had animations on them, "La la la lala, always Coca-Cola..." think of that design.) The problem is that each copy of the avi needs to be 150x150 in order for it to work.
how to reduce the FILE size, not the literal physical dimensions of the movie clip.
In CS5, if I had Text Layers and changed the text on the layer (by double-clicking the "T" icon of the specific Layer in the Layers palette), the name of the Layer would change to reflect the new text I entered.
For some reason this behavior is gone in CS6. So, for example:
• I have a Text Layer with the word "Email" on my canvas. The Text Layer name also reads "Email". • I double-click the "T" icon of the Email Layer to edit the text on canvas. • I enter new text, "Contact". The text on canvas updates to "Contact", but the Layer Name remains "Email".
So, for accurate Layer names, I find myself having to change the text twice: once on the canvas, and then manually updating the Layer name as well. Is there an option or preference somewhere that I'm missing that would re-enable the behavior from CS5?
Can i change the length of the dimension line 'extension' when my dimension text placement is beside the dimension line (see attached image)?dim line length.jpg
every one now a day i am making isometric drawings so i m little bit confuse in that i am using dimension and change the oblige angle text of dimension so is it right way or not ????
I have a group of dimension objects gather up by a selection set (objSS). I can screen each one one of these dimension by the lines
Dim objDimStyle As AcadDimStyle For Each objDimension In objSS ' ' Next
How is possible to assign the property Dim Style to each one of my objDimension to an Style that I have already created? I can not find this property available for my objDimension.
I am using ObjectArx with C# and I am wondering how to take the dimensions and dimension unit using the ObjectArx SDK. Is there possible way and what is the best approach.
When doing an angle dimension and trying to put text under the dimension line, the text types out straight which if long enough will extend over the dimension line. Other then creating text with arctext, is there no other way to get it curved? I am using AutoCAD 2010.
I'm adding in inspection dimensions for a PPAP submission drawing and have found that I cannot set hole and thread dimensions as inspection dimensions. I'm quite surprised to find that this option isn't available. Is it there, just hidden, or is it really not available to me?
To the top right of this picture is the inspection dimension I want and to the left the thread dimension which I can't get into this format.
For my dimension style, I have my text placement set to over dimension line, with leader, so I can drag the actual text outside the dimension line with a leader attached when necessary, but when I try to move the text outside of the dimension line it always draws the leader underlining the entire piece of text that I have moved. Is there a way to control the leader to attach to the middle of the line and not underline the entire piece of text when doing this operation?
is it possible to have a dimension style setup that shows the dimension text inline with the dimension - without having to move it?I have been looking but cannot seem to do it - is it possible and I am just missing it?
my normal dimension style has text above dmension line & I want to add 'typical' to it below dimension line.
I have done this lot of time in my previous job an year back. but I can't seem to remember what to type between dimension text & the word I want to add in edit text box, so that it appers below dimension line.
i'm trying to emulate the shadow and highlight on this apple icon:-
i am trying to create this shadow on text, so have tried the various drop shadows, inner and outer shadows, glows etc but to nothing resembling the shadow / highlights on this icon.
