I am having an issue with the lastest version of illustrator! When I try to highlight the text on the path. It goes it this diagonal/slanted direction so it looks like I'm not highlight the text at all. But it works fine, if I use the regular type too, I search forums for this such clicking the ctrl+H on my laptopt and this happens on my computer as well. The ctrl+H command did not work..

As a result, I cannot find a way to change the vertical spacing. What must I do? I know a solution, but it is VERY LONG and difficult, there must be a simple solution.

There is text ALL OVER this thing and it will be a major headache to see where the font problems are located. When I open a file like this in InDesign where a font is mssing, its highlighted in large pink boxes that stand out real easy. Does Illustrator have a similar feature?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using Illustrator CC. My business partner is in CS6. When we save files to .pdfs or legacy versions, we lose the ability to use the character pallete. I can't change leading or use kerning tools. I am able to select the text box, and change letters, but that's it. I can't go in and select a line, and then change the leading. I can't select a line to change the kerning. When I open the version that my partner's worked on in CS6, I save it as a cc file. I'm not sure why we're losing all the editing capability. The box for "preserve Illustrator editing capabilities" is checked. We have always had different versions of Illustrator for the last 6 years we've worked together, and this hasn't ever been a problem.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am trying to modify a bar graph that I have imported as a pdf from excel, and am having some trouble with customizing the color fill on the bars of the bar graph. When I select the object/bar and then fill with a different color, I see no change. However the menu shows the new color I selected for that particular object. Is there something weird about the type of object that the bar is when it is imported from excel?
OK I figured out that for some reason the bars on the bar graph are imported as clipping masks - very weird, you need to release the clipping mask, deselect the bar, select and delete the background shading, then fill the bar (which was previously the mask, I believe?) Why excel exports like this?
I notice something similar with the imported text labels associated with the same graph. When I select the text and change the font size, for some strange reason it can size up (say, from 10pt to 12pt) but not down (day, from 10pt to 8pt) It seems weird when I try to edit it at all really, as if the element was not a text element, is there some way to convert it to a text object? Ok this is working properly now, don't know why it was wonky before.
I am using CS5 with a Mac running 10.7.5

i am trying to create this shadow on text, so have tried the various drop shadows, inner and outer shadows, glows etc but to nothing resembling the shadow / highlights on this icon.
The new light blue color looks nice but on my project with 20% cyan scattered everywhere. When it's the background you are not even sure you have anything selected without going to wireframe.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running AutoCAD Structural Detailing 2012. When editting Text or MText, if I try to highlight some part of text, it does highlight BUT it does not show the highlight. What I mean is like if you were to highlight some text of this paragraph, on any internet explorer, it should highlight whatever text with blue. On every other version of AutoCAD, this is also the case. On my AutoCAD, I can highlight the text but it never shows the blue highlight, it does not show it as I am highlighting, nor does not show after I make my selection. If you are very careful you can still select the correct text, but this makes it very hard to know exactly what you are about to edit or delete. I was wondering if there is some setting that may have been in previous AutoCAD that I don't know about that somehow got changed or something?

When I adjust kerning to text in order to match spacing, the cursor highlight for the text covers up any image or artwork allowing you to only see the text selected. This also appears this way in wireframe?

The main issue so far is just making it really look like it's glowing, rather than just everything getting brighter. I tried Filters > Aristic > Softglow, but that didn't work too well.
I scanned a worksheet containing chemical structures with VueScan 9.3.14. I tried to use acrobat 11.0.5 along with the highlight tool to highlight parts of a chemical structure. Adobe did not recognize all parts of the chemical structure. Some parts (mostly single covalent bonds between 2 atoms) could be highlighted, but other's could not. Those parts which could not be highlight were important parts I was aiming to use acrobat's highlight tool for. I was hoping if something like the highlight tool in acrobat could be used in illustrator and/or other third party software.
View 2 Replies View RelatedBefore in CS5 when you click an option, the text would turn white, now they stay black making them hard to see. It seems to be desktop appearance specific so if I change my desktop theme the background color would change making the black text easier to see (text stays black). This seems like a bug, because the highlited text color should turn to white not stay black. Which was how it was in CS5.

When attempting to add simple text on an individual layer, the layer is turning black. This prevents me from seeing the text I'm editing. When I move to another layer the text displays correctly. When I go to edit the text by clicking the image the layer goes black again. It is like editing text in the dark, turning the light on to see the changes, turning the light off to make the changes, repeat.
I am clicking on a layer in GIMP, and when I click on the text tool, this dialog pops up "CONFIRM TEXT EDITING" "the layer you selected is a text layer but it has been modified using other tools. Editing the layer with the text tool will discard these modifications. You can edit the layer or create a new text layer from its text attributes."
with 3 options, Create New layer, Cancel, and Edit however, no matter what I click, it doesn't let me create new text anywhere.ALSO, it seems to jump from the layer i selected to another layer whenever I click "EDIT."
What is weird is that I was able to create new text prior to this, but not anymore. it's gimp 2.8.0
The image is basically a scanned copy of a letter. The image is in JPEG format and the size is around 200kb. Now I want to edit the image(the scanned letter). I only want to edit the content of the letter yani the text of the letter.
Specifically speaking I want to add some text in the image. The text has to be in the same font, size etc etc so that it does not looks like it has been editied.
i'm trying to follow this tutorial on how to make ice Text. Right in the beginning of the turtorial it asks me to create a new document so big...blah blah. It tells me to use the type tool to add some text. And then press ok and cut the text, then paste the text to automatically center it. Thats just it...it wont let me cut the text.

Here's an image - a compare between CS3.In CS6 in editing text mode when select all text & use Alt + keyboard "down" I have too big jumping values of leading. It's really make uncomfortable work to exactly adjustment spacing between the lines in text blocks.
In CS3 wasn't this problem, everything was excellent with leading & very comfortable work
I have a user using X4 on Win7 which on the most part, works well without any hassle.
Recently however they have been experiencing issues where the program will hang endlessly whenever they go to edit any text within a file.
The program has the latest updates, and is excluded from on access AV scanning so there shouldn't be any locked file issues.
I've also rolled back the latest Windows Updates just in case but to no avail.
i have this drawing that a friend made of this certificate. when i click (with the PICK TOOL) on the text that i want to edit it shows Black Box's in the corner (4 of them) around the entire section of that text. my question is how can i edit just one line of that text . i saw them do it at the shop where they made the certificate but they where not using X5.
when i click with the PICK TOOL but then when i try to select the text tool it just wants to make new text on a new layer.
Corel Draw X4 crashed while I was editing text but a box came up and asked if I wanted to save the file before I closed. I ofcourse said yes but I can't find the file anywhere.

I like using keyboard commands to work faster but whenever I'm editing any text and want to change to another tool, I have to go and click the tool in the toolbar. I can't use commands when editing text since It will just write the letter instead of activating the tool. Is there a way to do this?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've recently upgraded to X5 and now have a problem with text moving when editing.
As you can see in the image below, the text moves down and to the right and in this case making the red spell check line cut through the text.
Also, on another note - I've just noticed that the character spacing now seems to affect the whole text box, whereas before it would to it per paragraph. Does this mean all my older files will need to be edited to display right in X5?
