View 1 Replies View RelatedMy work involves importing in new documents and formating them correctly. We have a specific font style that is different than the original font. Illustrator cannot read those fonts, so it defaults to Myriad Pro in the original text size. Since it is changing it from Myriad Pro to Arial, I don't really have a problem with the global change that this would have.
I already have the [Character Styles] options set up for a template, but this does not work on new documents.
We are on Windows 7 with CS6.
For example I would like to make my images layer Green and my copy layer Red in my layers palette.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've looked and looked, and even Googled. how to change the default color profile when you start a New image file? In CS5 mine defaults to sRGB (Under the Advanced drop down) but my CS6 is ProPhoto RGB which means I have to change it manually nearly every time I paste an image copied via right click in a web browser.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI need to generate an overview of the colors used in a document.
For that, I would like to cycle through several rectangles of which I know the exact size. The rectangles are filled with a color from the swatch palette.
What I try to achieve is that the swatch name of the rectangle's fill color is written to a text field directly above the rectangle. But I could not find a possibility to 'extract' the fillcolor from a pageItem into a pastable string.
Is there a way to do this with Illustrator and Javascript?
Im trying to delete unsued document profiles, but after deleting they are recreated every time i start Illustrator. How can i delete them permanently ?
View 10 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to get the list of all the fonts and colors used in the active illustrator document (.ai file) ?
if yes then how?
I need to change the channels of about 10 layers at the same time, without loosing their colour relation to each other (so basically what you do with the image adjustments)...
But I need to limit it to a couple of layers in stead of the entire pic.. Ive tried adjustment layers, but they seem to applie to all the layers below them.. im probably applying it the wrong way right?
How do I change the default name of new adjustment layers?
How can I make it so that adjustment layers don't come with a mask when I create them (unless I have a selection active)?
Why isn't the Shadows/Highlights functionality an adjustment layer? It's accessable under "adjustments" but you can't use it non-destructive
Where can I find documentation on Photoshop's API? (I want o make tools for it - javascript)
Everything you read says that to change the default AI (CS3) startup document you use this path:
Users > (User Name) > Library > Application Support > Adobe > Adobe Illustrator CS3 > New Document Profiles > *.ai
The problem is, under Mountain Lion that path doesn't exist. When I go to my user name, there is no "Library" folder at all. Under "Shared" there is an AI Library folder, but it has nothing of any value in it.
My AI startup document (that I've been using for ages) is found here:
HD > Applications > Adobe Illustrator CS3 > Plug-ins > filename.ai
However, if I navigate there and make changes, then quit Illustrator and re-launch it, nothing happens. I'm using the same old defaults as before. I know I need to upgrade to a later version of CS, but the prices have become so outrageous there's no way I can justify it as long as AI and PS are working. You need a mortgage to buy new Adobe products these days.
For several releases Autocad's layer manager has shown only XREF layers in the layer manager by default. Open a drawing with Xrefs (nearly every drawing I have ever worked with) and to access the layers that are actually *in* the drawing, I must first open the layer manager, select the "Xref" filter, and check the Invert Filter box. Then I see the layers that would more logically be shown be default.
Does any way to change this so the non-Xref layers show up be default??? I am currently using Autocad Architecture 2012.
Is there a way to assign one of the default layer colors with javascript? like light blue, light red, or green.
View 3 Replies View Relatedusing Cs6, locked down all the layers I didnt want to copy across, select all, copy .. new document select paste remembers layers, paste in front, all layers beautifully copied but I cant see any of them on the artboard, only in the layers panel. There is nothing on top of the layers.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI prepare graphics mostly for print, so I like to turn on the Proof Colors view and Overprint Preview views. It's a pain to turn these on for each document. Is there a way to make these the default viewing settings in Illustrator CS6?
I tried creating an action to do it, but the Insert Menu Item command in actions causes Illustrator to crash every time, and the help file seems to say that View commands are unavailable to actions. So I'm not sure if that's a bug. Oddly, Photoshop has the very useful File> Scripts> Script Event Manager that let's me turn on Proof Colors (via an action) whenever a document is opened. It works very well. However, Illustrator does not appear to have these options. I found the View> New View options in Illustrator. They let me create a view that turns on Overprint Preview, but absolutely refuse to turn on Proof Colors. So it's the same number of clicks and pointless.

How do I highlight an entry in a photo of a document?
View 13 Replies View RelatedI created a template and placed it in the Graphic Styles folder. When I use the New command and select the new template from Graphic Styles, the Guide layer disappears. When I double click the template to open it the guides are there. Why is the guide layer getting stripped out when I use the New command? I want to avoid opening from template everytime.
The weird thing is that I had a template that was opening with guides until I made some changes to it. Now it doesn't work either.
I've wrritten a plug-in to export the layer as jpeg.everything is fine except that the current document becomes unsaved after exporting the layer.
I want to know that it use to be so or I'm wrong anywhere?
the process which I followed ---
1-) Created an empty Artset and filled it with layer contents.
2-) Then Rasterize the Artset.
3-) Then created a data filter containing the path where to export.
4) Then used AsJPEG( ) to create jpeg.
Script which would convert the layers in a document to artboards? At present I have a lot of documents with a couple of hundred layers on each of them, but I've decided to change the way that I organise my workflow and started using artboards instead. I don't really have the time to spend moving them individually from a layer over on to an artboard as there are a lot.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just started using 2012. Two problems:
1- Somehow, in my current drawing, everything is layer-locked. There are no Xrefs in this very basic drawing. All layers are unlocked. Yet, any attempt to select any entities results in "x objects were on a locked layer". Again, all layers are unlocked. No Xrefs. No blocks. Just simple lines. All entities appear faded. This happened after viewing a layout in both paper and model spaces. Reviewing the text window shows no strange accidental commands.
2- There is a default set of viewport scales in the status bar at the bottom right. Default scales are all metric. I would like both metric and imperial. I see you can edit which exact scales are in a metric list, and which are in an imperial list. But how do you set what is displayed/available in the status bar button?
I find myself constantly changing the color of new layers back to my favorite: Magenta. Is there a way to just make this the default new layer color?
I understand the reasoning of using different colors for each layer, but so many standard colors do not preview well, with the artwork, I find them useless. I'd just as soon use one color.
I can't figure out the proper commands to fill out and complete the script below. What I am trying to do is:
- Create a new document using one of the Profile presets (or have the New Document dialogue open so I could select the profile, size and bleed)
- Make 3 layers, each with a diferent name
- Create a rectangle the size of the artboard on the bottom layer, with a swatch stroke and no fill
- Create a rectangle the size of the bleed on the middle layer, with no stroke or fill
Like I said, I haven't gotten far at all. I've read through the basic scripting guides and I'm just not understanding all of the language needed to string things together.
tell application "Adobe Illustrator"
make new document
set topLayer to make new layer ¬
at beginning of document 1 with properties {name:"Vector"}
set bottomLayer to make new layer ¬
at end of document 1 with properties {name:"Through Cut"}
end tell
I have created a Document using sAIDocument->New().
Later I would like to change the title of the document, which I originally passed in on the AINewDocumentPreset.docTitle.
how I can do this programatically, or do you have to remove the document and start again?
CDX5: Whatever color I select for fill or outline is now set as the default color for fills and outlines without expressly setting it as such. Until now when I left or right click a color with nothing selected it allowed me to set it as a default fill or outline color for graphics, artistic text, or paragraph text. It does not do that now.
Is this a "feature" that's been added that I somehow enabled? In any event, how do I turn it off?
When I add a logo to my artwork in illustrator, import the illustrator file to a word template and print, it changes the printed colours dramatically..(black to blue, green to black and yellow to pink). Do I need to change a setting for that imported logo to make it compatible to print? Without that particular logo, the document prints fine.
