Feb 1, 2006I am batch scanning 35mm slides 15 at a time using an Epson 1680. I have been playing with the various dpi's and scale to find the best settings so I can cut the slides and paste them into Powerpoint for a lecture. What I have been finding is that when I cut the slide from the scanned image (of 15 in the holder) and place it in my powerpoint slide and then enlarge it, it is too blurry.
I have tried enlarging the dpi to 2400 but the computer won't scan it. I seem to get OK images in powerpoint at 90dpi and 800% scale but I really want them sharper.
How can I do this? Is it best to scan the slides individually and not use the holder?
More importantly, although the slides look OK on my laptop how will they look when they are projected onto the big screen. I do't want them to be too blurry.
Illustrator :: Adjust Image Placed In A Shape?
Feb 28, 2014In AICS6 I have a compound path made of two half-circle looking shapes. They have to be separate because they are puzzle pieces. Inside of this I am placing an AI illustration that is a group of over 100 shapes. The problem is this: Once inside the compound path it is impossible to adjust the position of either the placed image or the path container. Let's say I want to move the path around the image. If I use the direct seletion tool it will only select part of the path. This happens even if I group the two parts of the path. It then wants to deform the half-circles rather than move them. If I select both halves of the compound path and try moving it with the keyboard arrows nothing moves.
If I select both with the white arrow and then switch to the black arrow the result is the same. OK, dead end. The other option is to move the image and keep the path container stationary. When I select the image with the direct seletion tool, however, it only selects one of the hundreds of vector shapes making up the image. Even if they are grouped, it will only pick the one part. This is really amazing because it works so easily in InDesign, but you can't make the kind of picture boxes in ID that I need nor the type of clipping paths I want in Photoshop. It is best done in AI, but as is often the case there is a critical feature missing that is found in another part of the so-called "suite" to do something that shoud be simple. I'm hoping that's just it: that I'm missing something really simple. don't tell me to raster the vector image. I know that would work, but that is not a solution. That is a concession. If that is the only way, however, I'll do it.

May 16, 2009The scale of the horizontal ruler is slightly larger than the vertical ruler. If I zoom so that the distance between 0 and 1" is 100mm on the horizontal scale, it is 94mm between 0 and 1" on the vertical scale (sorry for the mixed standards). This makes images look compressed vertically on my screen. Portraits make people look more "chunky" than they are. Is this adjustable? I am using a Lacie electron19blueIV CRT with resolution at 1280x1024.

May 6, 2012I just installed autocad architecture 2012. when i opened it to start creating a new drawing/project the unit of measurement was in Millimeters.. i needed the Unit of measurement to be in architectural units, so i used the units command to change it to architectural units. the problem i am having now is that i think the Grid Scale is still in MM. when i tried to draw a line on the grid the line appeared to be tiny. the length of the line was 36'-5". i adjusted the scale to 1/4"=1' but that didnt change anything. in order to see the line that i drew i have to zoom in so much..

What I did: Scale the entire art by 1,000%
Result: Looks perfect on the screen and it is the accurate size.

The reason I ask, is that have multiple images all with different size. But I have a signature (ie. watermark) that is always the same size. I want to be able to place this signature, and then resize it to XX% of the image it was placed on. That way, it should always have the same proportions.

 Typically, if I have an image too big for it's intended use, I'd adjust the zoom until I get it to appear the right size, then resize it to the zoom level.  (I imagine many people do the same thing).  However, after resizing, the view of the image is really tiny, since the old zoom level is now being applied to the smaller image.

We regularly use screen-shot .bmp images from a map site to do our location maps ... and .bmp images for a rendering on the cover sheet. Once the images are edited, cropped / etc. as we want, using a photo program, then saved to the project folder, we insert them to the CAD file. We use the GRIPS to dynamically adjust the image size, snapping to line work.
Problem ... no more GRIPS. We can no longer figure out how to dynamically adjust the image size. Imageframe is set to "1". We could do math calculations to get it sized ... but ... we didn't have to do that with ACAD 2009 on WinXP.
