Why can't I adjust the scale of my text by clicking and dragging the corner boxes? Why I have the text selected, all it does it let me highlight it to change font, size, etc, OR all I can do is move it throughout the artboard. Why can I click and drag the corner box to adjust?

Im working for a geological firm that use timescales to describe their work (depths at times etc). I need to compress the time bar but not alter the text but cant find way to do it. Im only scaling in 1 direction.

Trying to create a header. I created the buttons in a separate psd file and when I click and drag the buttons into the other canvas (my header) I'm having trouble when I click ctrl + alt + shift to duplicate the new buttons. Some layers are getting left behind. Should I flatten or merge the layers of the button before I click and drag the button into the other canvas (header)?

I am using Adobe Illustrator CS6 and need to adjust the map scale of an image. In my class, we were told to go to the Image menu bar then click on Image Resize, but I do not see any of these options on CS6- they are on CS5. How do I get to Image resize? Also, where is Image Mode?

View 1 Replies View RelatedCS6 Pen tool, clicking and dragging on an existing path should not change the angle on the adjacent radius handles. It should only dynamically adjust the length of the existing radius handles, based on which direction you drag. It should only affect that one segment and not affect the bordering angles. I've been pathing with Adobe products for 25 years and this should not change now. I want to be able to fine tune ONE line segment without affecting its neighboring segments. The "new" behavior should only occur with a modifier. If the Mothership deems this is the only way to do this moving forward, at LEAST give your long-standing customers a modifier, such as the shift key to enable us to keep working as we have been for decades.
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy work bought me a huge new Thunderbolt monitor yesterday, so I took advantage of the real estate and expanded my Layers palette to be very tall, and along with several other adjustments, saved this out as a custom workspace. Today though I am working only on a laptop offsite with no Thunderbolt and the bottom of the Layers palette is offscreen where I can't get to it. I know if I change workspaces to one of the Adobe presets it will give me a standard size Layers palette, but if possible I would like to work within my custom workspace and just change the height of the palette.

I am only able to select boxes and type by clicking directly on the path with both the selection and direct selection tool. Normally I can select text by clicking anywhere on it. I have checked my selection preferences and have the "Object Selection by Path Only" box turned off.

But I would like to find an easy way to make all corners the same diameter regardless of the angle too.
I'm currently using Illustrator CS4 and I'm having problems with what I assume is a corrupted file of some kind. When I'm working in Illustrator everything works and looks fine but when I save it as a PDF all my text changes to a bunch of box and rectangle outlines. I've tried opening in Photoshop and the same thing happens. Also when I preview it in Finder the same thing happens.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an iMac at work with Mountain Lion and Ilustrator CS6, I have files that I have created with Illustrator from scratch but when I bring them home and open them on my iMac at home with the same system the text boxes are broken into individual text boxes for each line of text. What is going on. Also everything in the document is a Clipping Path inside the document bound box.

I would attach a screenshot, but the "Insert Image" button brings up a white box that tells me the "Operation timed out."Â Not my day for software.

Basically, once I create a text box, I lose the ability to resize it unless I manipulate one corner at a time with the direct selection tool.

I have tried to reset my bounding box and also hidden and unhidden edges. It won't let me resize anything. Where there used to be an resize cursor, there is just a default cursor.

Whenever I try to resize a text box with the selection tool, it won't allow me to resize. I tried the text tool as well, but it didn't work. I don't want to resize the text, just show text that is hidden. I'm currently using CS4.

Is there a way to take whatever name I assign to the artboard and print it into the text box inside that artboard? So in the end I would be able to see the name associated with each artboard on the artboard itself. Ideally I could run the script once (i.e. "turn it on"), have it populate all the text boxes with the artboard names, and then have it dynamically update the textboxes when I change an artboard name regardless of whether the file has been closed and opened since I originally ran the script.

The 1st point and last points are left-top and finally set 5 points.The direction is clock-wise and made closed path.To get smooth-curved polygon shape, I used API 'PointsToCurves'.But, the first and last points are connected by cornered (not smooth) point. When exiting a drawing by clicking on the small X in the upper right corner of the drawing, my program routinely "stops working". I get the error message that it has stopped working and it closes. No chance to save work in other drawings open at the time. I often have three or four drawings open so my only workaround is to go through each and save, then close the one I want to close, let the system crash and reopen the other drawings. It does not crash every time but several times a day.

My working solution is to create a text box with text then use direct selection tool to select the anchors and convert that into a shape, either a rectangle or rounded rectangle. This isn't bad since it allows an equal amount of space around the text but it does have problems. If the font size increases or decreases, the box remains the same. I have to use the Area Type Option to resize the box. Also, if I wanted to do this for lots of boxes then I have to select all of the individual anchors which will be time consuming.
Is there a way to access text boxes in an existing document and replace them with a new value taken from an excel table? I've been able to create new documents from scratch and populate them with excel data, but formating these new documents to look like those we already made is proving more difficult than I thought using just Javascript.

Ideally I'd be able specific an index for each text box and replace them in order as i itterate through the excel(or CSV) document.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThe scale of the horizontal ruler is slightly larger than the vertical ruler. If I zoom so that the distance between 0 and 1" is 100mm on the horizontal scale, it is 94mm between 0 and 1" on the vertical scale (sorry for the mixed standards). This makes images look compressed vertically on my screen. Portraits make people look more "chunky" than they are. Is this adjustable? I am using a Lacie electron19blueIV CRT with resolution at 1280x1024.

I just installed autocad architecture 2012. when i opened it to start creating a new drawing/project the unit of measurement was in Millimeters.. i needed the Unit of measurement to be in architectural units, so i used the units command to change it to architectural units. the problem i am having now is that i think the Grid Scale is still in MM. when i tried to draw a line on the grid the line appeared to be tiny. the length of the line was 36'-5". i adjusted the scale to 1/4"=1' but that didnt change anything. in order to see the line that i drew i have to zoom in so much..
How do i adjust the grid scale to be the same as the units?
