I am unable to resize text boxes and shapes.
I have tried to reset my bounding box and also hidden and unhidden edges. It won't let me resize anything. Where there used to be an resize cursor, there is just a default cursor.

Whenever I try to resize a text box with the selection tool, it won't allow me to resize. I tried the text tool as well, but it didn't work. I don't want to resize the text, just show text that is hidden. I'm currently using CS4.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to be able to create a box around text that is able to resize when increasing/decreasing font.
My working solution is to create a text box with text then use direct selection tool to select the anchors and convert that into a shape, either a rectangle or rounded rectangle. This isn't bad since it allows an equal amount of space around the text but it does have problems. If the font size increases or decreases, the box remains the same. I have to use the Area Type Option to resize the box. Also, if I wanted to do this for lots of boxes then I have to select all of the individual anchors which will be time consuming.
I'm missing transform handles and unable to edit objects or text boxes in Illustrator CC. How do I fix this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWorking with scientific figures containing circles, squares, etc in CS4. How can I resize many circles to be 1.5 by 1.5 mm, for example, after they have been skewed a bit to make the entire graph the same size as adjacent figures? In other words, I import the graph from elsewhere and to touch it up I have to resize it a bit. Resizing the whole figure distorts the circle to an ellipse and I want to turn it back into a circle. Takes too long to select each shape and indicate the size.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm using Illustrator to creat shapes that can be exported as DXF files then taken into a program used in CNC plasma cutting of metal art. I'm able to do this with art work drawn with the pencil tool and blob brush. I also want to do this with the brush tools creating florishes and other shapes. I've been able to take a paint brush drawn line with width, rasterized it, and then image traced it to creat a line shape with handles which allow it to be adjusted however I've not been able to get rid of the selection box, it seems to need to be selected in order to work on the shape, and the drawn lines created when I image traced it seem to be double lines. Also I can't get rid of the box that is drawn when I select the lines so I can use the handles to manipulate the shape. Most important I've not be able to export shapes draw this way as a DXF file.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm currently using Illustrator CS4 and I'm having problems with what I assume is a corrupted file of some kind. When I'm working in Illustrator everything works and looks fine but when I save it as a PDF all my text changes to a bunch of box and rectangle outlines. I've tried opening in Photoshop and the same thing happens. Also when I preview it in Finder the same thing happens.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an iMac at work with Mountain Lion and Ilustrator CS6, I have files that I have created with Illustrator from scratch but when I bring them home and open them on my iMac at home with the same system the text boxes are broken into individual text boxes for each line of text. What is going on. Also everything in the document is a Clipping Path inside the document bound box.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using AI CS6, opened it up today and all the text boxes are behaving like paths. I can only resize them using the direct select tool. I don't know what happened, I've checked type preferences, nothing there seems to be odd.
I would attach a screenshot, but the "Insert Image" button brings up a white box that tells me the "Operation timed out." Not my day for software.
Basically, once I create a text box, I lose the ability to resize it unless I manipulate one corner at a time with the direct selection tool.

When I enter a value, such as 2.2, as the height in the Transform box, AI automatically changes the value (to 2.1944, in this case). Is there any way to fix this?
(I have deslected "Align New Objects to Pixel Grid" and have deleted the AIPrefs file. I am working with AI CC and Windows 7.)
I have an Illustrator document with ~100 artboards, each artboard named by me. Each artboard has one textbox in it. Is there a way to take whatever name I assign to the artboard and print it into the text box inside that artboard? So in the end I would be able to see the name associated with each artboard on the artboard itself. Ideally I could run the script once (i.e. "turn it on"), have it populate all the text boxes with the artboard names, and then have it dynamically update the textboxes when I change an artboard name regardless of whether the file has been closed and opened since I originally ran the script.

View 7 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to access text boxes in an existing document and replace them with a new value taken from an excel table? I've been able to create new documents from scratch and populate them with excel data, but formating these new documents to look like those we already made is proving more difficult than I thought using just Javascript.
Ideally I'd be able specific an index for each text box and replace them in order as i itterate through the excel(or CSV) document.
I already have a way to pull from the table, another question asked here, but can't figure out the object model to put the new info in a specific place.
Below is what I came up with to create a very rough looking document from scratch:

Is there a way to automaticaly resize all of the text, images, etc to fit in the new size? Or do I have to do it manually?
This used to be so simple: grab the corner of the text block with the Selection tool, and drag the corner around until my text block is the right size. In CS6, I grab the corner of the text block with the Selection tool, and all I can do is scoot the text block around the page without changing its size.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am new to Illustrator and am currently attempting to learn it. I am creating a logo that has text and has a shape that goes through the text to make the text appear as if it has claw marks in it.
I have two layers. The layer with the shape "claw" marks, and a layer with the text. The shape layer is currently above and the text layer is currently below. If I select both layers and click on Make Clipping Mask it has the text displayed within the little claw marks, how do I reverse that? Because when I try to change the order of the layers it doesn't clip anything?

Excuse my ignorance but how can I resize or change the radius of a rectangle after it has been drawn other than the free transform tool in Photoshop? In other words I would like to be able to resize rectangular shapes after drawn by inputting a new dimension, something like Flash where you just type in the dimensions you want.

I just installed Illustrator CS6 trial. I have been on Illustrator 9 for years. I am used to clicking on the type tool, then clicking on the artboard and typing a single word. I am not using actual text boxes. When I do that in CS6 I cannot get a bounding box to show me how to resize it using the transform tool (arrow tool). I've gone to view>show bounding box, but it does not do anything.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have several lisp routines I have been using since Acad 2002 (with occasional minor revisions) for my title blocks that open up a dialog boxes. None of the lisps I have that should open up a dialog box are working in a fresh 2012 install.
The lisps work in 2010 but not in 2012. I searched through the boards and found some info but it hasn't worked (made sure ATTREQ & ATTDIA set to 1).
Here is one the lisps in question:

I have tried changing the attdia value to 1 in the lisp but the result is the same. The command fails at the same spot:
Command: TITLE attdia Enter new value for ATTDIA <1>: 0

If I use -insert I can get the blocks to run by typing all the information at the command line but I want my dialog boxes back!
I have been trying to make an animation with a logo, I have to use pro cutter in order to accomplish this task. My problem is one I use a box mesh as a cutter, then cut it, I delete the box meshes, but pro cutter has duplicated them and merged them to my mesh. So I can't delete the extra boxes without deleting my mesh.
