1. Lately I can't resize an object. The surrounding border of the object is with filled rectanglers and not with hollow rectangler.Thus, I can't resize objects - how can I fix it ?
2. When I try to mark text, it's mark it perfectly but I can't see the higlighting even though I choose it. How can I mark text and see the text marked (chosen text marked)
In several instances I can't highlight text to copy or to edit, other times it works fine. If I click the radio button for the text in layers (other layers may be locked to prevent accidental selection), the baselines appears and I should be able to highlight the text, but I can't. If I highlight some other unaffected area of text successfully (unlocked layers), sometimes it will allow me to select the problem text directly after.

In 2011 I was able to (say preview the object) highlight the object before selecting it.
I noticed this when I have a few lines on top of each other and couldn't 'toggle' through to bring the correct line to the front.
Also occurs when hatching by Object, object doesn't highlight.its just a variable I can change.
In a training video on Illustrator cs6 a device is shown as follows, as the instructor manually resizes an Artboard using the Artboard tool:
Justin, the instructor, calls the little box that immediately shows width/height a "width and height box" but searching on that term is not productive. When I run the program the device is not available, not does the video explain what option makes it available or what might have changed on my particular copy to obscure or disable the box. While I know I can get the same effect by choosing the Info window, and can even adjust the parameters more precisely using the control panel bar, I would like to have the convenience of this box.
I note that in the same video series (from Lynda.com) the same type of display device is shown when the instructor resizes a graphic. After some 30 minutes of Google searches and searching for the identity of this device and how to enable it I come up empty.. An experienced Premiere editor, I'm trying to widen my skill set into more of the Adobe suite and new to Illustrator;

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'd like to scale, rotate, and/or reposition a pattern-filled Live Paint cell, without cuting the cell from the Live Paint object. Can I do that? I routinely do this in normal objects, using the "~" key trick, but this only seems to work globally, on a Live Paint object (scales all pattern fills, not just one cell).
I'm still using CS5, but am interested to know if it can be done in CS6 as well.
How to disable border highlighting when selecting a smart object in the layers panel? Designing pixel-to-pixel is cumbersome when the highlight appears and temporarily extends the size of the shape by 1 px.

Creating and adjusting little rectangles, making them partially transparent, and putting them behind words you want highlighted seems extremely work intensive..... On step 20 it tells me to pick the horizontal text tool and I did. So I click and drag to "highlight" the text but all I get is a textbox!

I also added some text, I like the look of the text highlighted, I mean the white box with the inverted text color & even the image looks aqua blue.

I need to resize it to 5.5" x 8.5". That part is cake!
Is there a way to automaticaly resize all of the text, images, etc to fit in the new size? Or do I have to do it manually?
This used to be so simple: grab the corner of the text block with the Selection tool, and drag the corner around until my text block is the right size. In CS6, I grab the corner of the text block with the Selection tool, and all I can do is scoot the text block around the page without changing its size.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am running AutoCAD Structural Detailing 2012. When editting Text or MText, if I try to highlight some part of text, it does highlight BUT it does not show the highlight. What I mean is like if you were to highlight some text of this paragraph, on any internet explorer, it should highlight whatever text with blue. On every other version of AutoCAD, this is also the case. On my AutoCAD, I can highlight the text but it never shows the blue highlight, it does not show it as I am highlighting, nor does not show after I make my selection. If you are very careful you can still select the correct text, but this makes it very hard to know exactly what you are about to edit or delete. I was wondering if there is some setting that may have been in previous AutoCAD that I don't know about that somehow got changed or something?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSomething that has been missing in Xara since the dawn of time is when you double-click on a word of text and then continue to slide the mouse over to the right, it does nothing. In just about any other Windows program, after highlighting a word, the sliding of the mouse over to the right continues to highlight whole words. Why, oh why, can this not be done in Xara, which is now supposed to be a mature text-handling application? It is infuriating when you have a word at the very beginning of a text box and you are fiddling about trying to get the cursor in front of the first letter of a word when all you should have to do is double-click the word and then continue to slide your mouse over the rest of the text you wish to select.
This is a Windows program. Windows has certain conventions that just about everybody sticks to so that you don't have this hair-pulling, pill-popping, bloody frustration when you switch between programs.
I just installed Illustrator CS6 trial. I have been on Illustrator 9 for years. I am used to clicking on the type tool, then clicking on the artboard and typing a single word. I am not using actual text boxes. When I do that in CS6 I cannot get a bounding box to show me how to resize it using the transform tool (arrow tool). I've gone to view>show bounding box, but it does not do anything.

I have the following image. This is for schools as a fundraiser product/promo product.
What i have in green is the text box. I want it to adjust the text height and width itself depending on how much text is in the box while keeping a universal textbox size. Is there a way to do that?
Whenever I try to resize a text box with the selection tool, it won't allow me to resize. I tried the text tool as well, but it didn't work. I don't want to resize the text, just show text that is hidden. I'm currently using CS4.

My working solution is to create a text box with text then use direct selection tool to select the anchors and convert that into a shape, either a rectangle or rounded rectangle. This isn't bad since it allows an equal amount of space around the text but it does have problems. If the font size increases or decreases, the box remains the same. I have to use the Area Type Option to resize the box. Also, if I wanted to do this for lots of boxes then I have to select all of the individual anchors which will be time consuming.
How do I get back the scaling tool when highlighting an image in CS3 that I have lost?

I'm trying to use Illustrator CC (instead of CS6).. In AI CS6, pressing Command+Shift+Option+F on the keyboard, while text is active, hilights the Font Field in the Character Panel... not so in AI CC. I can open CS6 on the same file and it works... Open AI CC and no result.

Effect > Warp > Arch > ApplyI then select the text and the object together and click 'Divide' in the pathfinders window.
However when I click divide the text reverts back to being a straight line of type. I really need the arch effect to be knocked out.
I am attempting to wrap some 2D text around an object, which has perspective. See example below:
The above is my attempt at wrapping the word "NEIGHBORHOOD" around the object. What I did was Object > Envelope Distort > Make with Mesh... and just approximated how it should look by using a combination of guides. There has got to be a better, more precise way of doing this in illustrator.
