When I insert an xref it's to scale 12!; in my model space I have blocks scaled 0.0833 and others to 1 scale! this is weird, every time I insert a block I need to scaled it in the way to adjust it to my drawing. If my drawing it's supposed to be 1 scale.

View 8 Replies View RelatedWe have a large project that we converted from 2012 to 2013 - it had always been a little buggy in 2012 as it was a piece together from another consultant.  Now though, it is extremely slow and there seems to be a 'block reference' around every block in the drawing. You can drag your select window and they all pop up like crazy and slow things down immensely (see screen capture). You can select them individually, they have nodes on all 4 corners and to move them, scales your block up and down. I tried block replace to our blocks which we know are fine and same problem. It also seems to be drawing specific although audit is clean.

I had used -dwg units and this appears to single drawings only. Any other way to do this to all the files in a folder.
Is it possible to create a 'drawing scale' defined attribute inside my title block when brought into paper space?  I tried setting it up using 'plotscale' fieldname with various formats and it keeps coming in as 1" = 1' or 1:1 rather than 1" = 20' because that's what my plot scale is inside paper space but my drawing scale is 20 scale. If I bring the title block in model space, it adjusts, but I don't plot from model space. Surely there's a way to make this automated inside paper space.
Also, I just setup a 'Date' attribute inside my title block today. What's the difference between Date, Saved Date and Plot Date? Will 'Date' update if its in a drawing and opened up a month from now and saved or do i need to take 'Date' out and replace with 'Saved Date' or Plot Date'?.Â
I would like to ask if its possible to extract part of the drawing from modelspace then add title block in lay-out and scale the extracted drawing...how will i do that?

We set up our drawings full size and occasionally we want to plot them at half size. We do this by setting the plot scale to 1:2 (custom) in the plotting dialog. We have a few blocks that we want to print at the same size on paper, essentially become twice as big.
Is there is a way to fix the size or just set a few scale states and have them automatically adjust based on the plot scale (not drawing/annotative scale)?

I just installed autocad architecture 2012. when i opened it to start creating a new drawing/project the unit of measurement was in Millimeters.. i needed the Unit of measurement to be in architectural units, so i used the units command to change it to architectural units. the problem i am having now is that i think the Grid Scale is still in MM. when i tried to draw a line on the grid the line appeared to be tiny. the length of the line was 36'-5". i adjusted the scale to 1/4"=1' but that didnt change anything. in order to see the line that i drew i have to zoom in so much..
How do i adjust the grid scale to be the same as the units?

View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I open a new drawing in my AutoCAD 2013 that I just recently installed last week, I encounter a problem that I am not familiar with from previus versions of AutoCAD I have worked on.  First of all, the units default to decimal, and I want them to default to architectural, with feet and inches.  I have to type UNITS in the command line every time I open a new drawing in order to adjust this.  I have AutoCAD for Architecture 2012 on another computer, and the program automatically defaults to architectural units upon opening up.  Just to let you know, the program I am having this difficulty  with is part of a package called Autodesk Building Design Suite 2013.  I was under the impression that it included AutoCAd for Architecture, but I think it has only standard AutoCAD.
The scale of the objects I draw vs. the scale of the drawing field is very out of proportion.  What I mean is, when I open a new drawing and draw a 30' -0" line, the line appears so long on the screen that I cannot see the whole object, even if I zoom out to the maximum.  I should be able to see the object in it's entirety.  In fact, when I draw a line that is only 12" long, even when the zoom is all the way out, the line looks huge in length.  I have tried adjusting the units to the architectural/inches setting of course, and I have tried adjusting the scale in model space from 1:1 to 1/4'=1'-0", but nothing is working.
I am having some problems getting the hang of applying the drawing scale to my assignment. I understand the scale factor that is applicable to the printing only and that AutoCAD doesn't care about the units used...but something is not clicking here and I'm sure it is pretty simple. My assignment requires me to draw 3 simple structures at 1/8" scale on 11X17 paper. Each house is 20' long with 10' walls and each is done in absolute, relative, and polar. I actually completed the work with all 3 formats without specifying the scale or paper size, just to get familiar with the commands. But now that I am trying to set the dimensions correctly, I cannot replicate my work because I'm getting lost in the way things are defined. I am using AutoCAD 2005, also have a 2002 version to which I can defer.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a leader with a block for signs that we use on our road schemes. I cannot access the attribute information on the block without exploding the leader with the block. The problem is that although I can then access the attribute information the leader is then broken and is only a line and a hatch arrow. Is there another way to do this?

The scale of the horizontal ruler is slightly larger than the vertical ruler. If I zoom so that the distance between 0 and 1" is 100mm on the horizontal scale, it is 94mm between 0 and 1" on the vertical scale (sorry for the mixed standards). This makes images look compressed vertically on my screen. Portraits make people look more "chunky" than they are. Is this adjustable? I am using a Lacie electron19blueIV CRT with resolution at 1280x1024.

How do I address scale, position, opacity, etc. attributes of my symbol via the code, and where can I find a good, solid reference on syntax? I keep bouncing into jquery libraries, which I don't yet really understand how to implement. I'm missing that reference manual that defines all the functions we have at our disposal.
I realize it may be a Civil3D question. When I change my drawing scale in the "Drawing Settings" dialog box to 1"=40', for example. The Annotative scale in the Properties Palette changes to 1"=40'_XREF.

I work with a land surveying package. I use both AutoCAD 2006 and R14. When I export a cad dwg from the survey software and open it in R14 my drawing units are as I want them E.G Direction Control = North = 270 and should be set to clockwise. If I open the same exported drawing but in 2006 the settings change. If I create a new drawing in 2006, the settings are as I want them.
I have 5 drawings that all have the same model (basically a topo map of a 2 mile radius) but each have unique info, i.e. monitoring well locations, utility info, etc. The client wants a zoomed in view of a 1 block radius and I need all 5 drawings to have an identical zoom. How do I adjust my viewports in each drawing so they are zoomed in to the exact same place?

My drawing- block is a little bit complicated, it contains few actions and parameters and everytime i open block editor to add, or to modify some action I can't see my drawing because actions grips and parameters grips obscure my drawing. I tried to refresh layout but it doesn't work.

I am trying to make a scale bar block that allows user to input the scale and it automatically populates the scale bar numbers. Note, I do not want to do a dynamic block with a list of preset scales that toggle visibility; I want the user to be able to input one field and have all the respective scale bar values calculated and updated based on that number.
I am having a problem making the numbers update correctly.The block has one attribute - "mainscale" - where a user can enter the desired scale,default is 1000. The mtext contain a field with a formula - the formula has a field targeting object-> "mainscale" -> value property, and divides it by 100 for 2nd bar value, by 50 for 3rd bar value, etc (to achieve the 10, 20, 30 when default value is 1000).
When I change the default value of "mainscale" within the block editor, the mtext values update correctly after a regen. However when out of the block editor, after changing the "mainscale" value and regen the scale values do not update.
What am I missing to make the fields update on a regen when the attribute value is changed? Or Is there some other way to create the scale bar with user input?Do I need to use scripts to make this work?
I'm working with two different drawings to import Layers for Lot Grading and when I'm importing the Block Reference from the origin file, it's setup as Linescale 0.5, but when I import into my regular basemap, which is setup for Linescale 1, the text size is double what it should be.Â
