My drawing- block is a little bit complicated, it contains few actions and parameters and everytime i open block editor to add, or to modify some action I can't see my drawing because actions grips and parameters grips obscure my drawing. I tried to refresh layout but it doesn't work.

Is it just me or do the actions associated with parameters disappear on occasion from the block editor? Sometimes a regen will make them reappear, other times not. Closing/opening the block editor is one way to make them visible again (worked a few times at least).
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to do a block wall in section, with the block as a rectangle with an associative hatch that will stretch to the height of the wall, the mortar joint then as a seperate element with a wipeout which will then array at 225mm centres.
I get the stretch working fine and the array working, but it will only display at greater than whole multiples of the array, which is a bit silly in a block wall. If I have a wall with a UK standard 225mm high block, I would have a joint at the bottom, then another at +225mm, not what I am getting which is a joint at the bottom but then the 225mm joint only appears when the wall is >450mm high.
I had thought chaining a linear parameter with an increment setting, to a linear parameter with a stretch setting, would work, but it doesn't.
I have created a dynamic block with a stretch, flip and rotate. Everything works great in its file. When I insert it in another file, the grips move but the block does not change.

The "Main Stretch" parameter does not correspond with the Block Properties Table. What does this parameter need to be attached to?The paramter will adjust with the pull down options of the Block Properties Table.

To take a simple example; I have a block consisting of a rectangle, with 2 linear stretch parameters - length, width. Can I set it up so that when I insert the block, it asks for the length and breadth,just as it would for attributes.
I will double click into a dynamic block to edit it in Block Editor. None of the blocks dynamic attributes will show up. Then I try to exit the block using either "bclose" or by clicking "Close Block Editor" and get this message: "bclose command only allowed in block editor". Um... hello Autocad, I'm in the block editor.
My only option at this point is to close the file... CAD politely asks me if I want to save my changes, and unfortunately I made the mistake of saying yes the first time this happened. If I choose to save the changes, when I re-open the CAD file it will only be the block that I was editing! It purges everything else in the file (and it is apparent that it only saved the block b/c my file size is much smaller than the original). The backup file is also only the blocks information, b/c CAD believes it is saving correctly. My other choice is to not save, and lose all of my changes since the last save or since the last autosave.
I just learn about dynamic block. How to edit text inside dynamic block without using block editor. I want directly edit text inside.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThere doesn't seem to be an issue with this block when I open it with the block editor in the drawing where it was created. However, if I insert it into another drawing, it comes in as a block but when I select it, only the insertion point grip is visible. What happened to the parameters and actions? Oh they're still there but I have to open the block editor again for that block and then they display a great distance away from the block itself. This is all in model space with no change to the scale of the block upon insertion.
If I erase the parameters and actions and recreate them, the block behaves correctly in that second drawing but there is still the problem with the original block in my library.The attachment is supposed to be for a portion of metal deck that can be arrayed to whatever length is requied.
I have been working with attributes and visibility states for months, i've created a dozen blocks that have worked exactly as designed... Now every block i make with the same method is not working properly
attached is a really simple block. to the left are the 4 individual attributes in the block. on the right is the dynamic block with 4 visibility settings to show 1 attribute, 2 attributes, etc... everything is perfect in the block editor, in model space; vis state 1 shows 3 att's, vis state 2 shows 3 att's, and vis states 3&4 work as designed.
I'm under the gun to create standard blocks to collaborate with 2 other another firms.
I am trying to insert a block into a drawing that uses dynamic blocks. I want the block to be associated to the dynamic block, so that when I alter a linear stretch parameter on the dynamic block it moves the other block.
I am probably missing something obvious, but have now googled my mind into a numb state and can't make any more progress.
I have created d/blocks for my different pipe sizes i.e one block with a dropdown to select the different sizes and have done the same for my flanges. now how do I link / insert the flange d/block to the piping block so that I can export the information into a material list later on.

I have a block definition with several attributes. I would like to pick a (predefined) value for each of the attribute. Making just one block properties table means that I need to fill all the possible combinations of these attributes.
I have created an annotated block of a cut line. In the block editor the grips are located on the ends of the cutline where I need them to be. When I test the block in the block editor the grips are in the right place and the block works fine. However, when I insert the block into my drawing the grips to control the stretch action are located way out in right field instead of at the ends of the cutline where I placed them in the block editor. Parameters having errors. I have corrected the errors but my block is still acting the same way.

I have inserted a dynamic block (with .NET) and changed the value of a dynamic parameter (Linear). The block is stretched as it should be. (no problems here).
After a fiew other routines, I select the block again (by using its objectID) and a want to get the coördinates of the grip of the linear dynamic paramter. Is there a way to get the coördinates based on the linear dynamic parameter and its grip points? code in vb.Net?
I created a Dynamic Block that works perfectly, however when I try to add it to my tool pallet, I get an error message that reads "Block XXX is not found in source drawing. If the source drawing is currently open in the editor please save your drawing."
I'm not in the block editor, and I've saved it multiple times before I tried doing this. I've even closed AutoCAD and reopened it and I'm still getting the same results. I've been able to add many other blocks to my tool pallet, but it just will not accept this one.
How do I manipulate a height parameter all of the dynamic blocks in the drawing from one single field? Say a field located in the drawing properties or on the drawing itself.
For example: Multiple blocks of different walls of same height with other blocks of things on located on those walls, dependant on the wall height, all linked to and changed by a single field. Possibly a Wall Height field located in the custom tab of the drawing properties.
I can pickout each of the blocks and change them at the same time in properites menu because they all share the same parameter name. I would just like to have that height parameter of every block in the drawing, that has that specific parameter controled by a single field. Which I could enter a new height at anytime that would change every block in the drawing to that height.
1. What is the easiest way to find points that are not constrained? I get a notice that the block is not fully constrained and its a nightmare going through all the lines trying to find where I need to apply a constarinet.( I can't wait to get off ACAD and back to Inventor.)
2. When I try to save a dynamic block using the Save Block icon under Open/Save, if the dynamic block is not fully constrained, and I click save, when I reopen the block to edit all of my constraints are gone, this has happened twice. Now I just exit by Xing out and saving changes.
First i have to mention i am using a mac.
We are supposed to make a block (window for house) and in the windows version, apparently when entering BLOCK EDITOR - a tool palette comes up where you are able to choose "Linear Parameter" and then an arrow comes up where you can pull the arrows to each side.
MY PROBLEM: is that when i enter block editor this tool palette doesn't show, and i cant find where this linear parameter is.
I need to know where to look to find if a point parameter is visible the the current visibility state of the dynamic block reference.

I am able to do that, but the only issue is the flip parameter goes all weird when I do so (the text starts distancing itself from the polyline when stretched, rotated and flipped).

In the first image, you'll see the items that I want to have rotatable in blue. The items in red should NOT rotate. That part seems to work fine. But the items that do rotate don't behave as expected.
I created the rotate parameter selecting the center of the red circle as the base point. Shouldn't that cause ALL the items to rotate about that center point?
As you'll see from the second image, the blue line rotates about some other point.
EDIT: Well I guess it only does it if I have the blue horizontal line defined with a length constraint. I also need to have that line dynamic--I need to make it longer/shorter.
I've attached a dwg file with the block in it--it's at the top of the block list (___SectMark2).

I get the "Specify base point" bit okay but I can't figure out what "Specify radius of parameter" does.
Do I have to include or exclude other parameters like Flip or Stretch? I get some weird results when I rotate an object with other parameters.
Is it possible to place the Grip in a specific place? It always seems to like to sit on top of another parameter name.
I would like to add a new (user) parameter to a dynamic block within my code. I have noticed that this is possible manually. But couldn't find how to do this in .Net. When this parameter has been created it would be necessary to fill in a value. So the parameter can either be a general parameter, that can be adjusted later or a (user/dynamic) parameter specific for the block.

There are support members that are needed when it gets big enough. Right now i have them set to a Visability parameter and have to select to turn them on and off in model space. Is there a way to link the Visability so that it changes based on the Linear Distance parameter's lenth?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I've done a reasonable amount of work with dynamic blocks. I have a block with a rotation action and grip to arbitrarily align it. However I realized when trying to combine it with an alignment grip (which actions on the basic or fundamental block rotation angle) that there didn't seem to be a way to some how link a dynamic block rotation action or one of the custom angle properties to a the fundamental block rotation angle. Thus there are two additive rotations at work; the dynamic block one with its grip and the fundamental rotation property.
This can cause some confusion when one person aligns with the grip and another via rotating the block's fundamental property and would also be problematic in the generalized sense if one was trying to select or programmatically read back the net angle alignment.
