I ahve a users who is having an issue wher Illustrator CS6 will freeze up on startup. It displays a message that it can not laod a 39 font. However when I login to this workstation with a different userid, Illustrator opens without any issue.
Recently Photoshop CS3 Extended freezes when I launch it on my Windows 7 (64 bit) computer. The splash screen appears but then it just stops working (usually on initializing Tools).
I have read several things so far. To fix it I tried:
- disabling the TWAIN plugin
- resetting all tools
- deleting the Photoshop preferences file.
- deleting my printer from the control panel (some others said printer drivers could cause it)
While using Explorer 9, it is empty. Anyway, I've switched to compatability mode.
I have this issue with 2 installations of Civil3D 2011-64 bit. I have 2 monitors. When first starting up, while Civil3D is loading, if I move to the other monitor and do any activity with the mouse, once civil3D is loaded, it is frozen. I can't do anything with it and need to use Task Manager to close it. If I just leave the mouse alone until Civil3D completely loads, then I'm fine. Just a minor annoyance, but have never experienced it with earlier versions.
I have about 35000 pictures with avg size of 7Mb and use a single catalog to manage these. I created chronological albums by filtering on 6 month time periods, i have about 16 of these. When I created this initial setup, the organizer was working fine. not since then. e.g.:
-When I'm trying to download new pictures from my camera, I can open the Photo downloader program, it detects the camera and the pictures on it, I can set to location to download to, but none of the other settings, like 'Rename Files' and the Get Media button doesn't respond, even though it looks active.
-When I try to browse through my albums, I can select one, but then the application becomes unresponsive and I cannot get it to do anything anymore.
I'm also observing continuous harddisk activity and the Windows Task Manager is showing that is caused by the PSE Organizer.
I'm running Windows 7 64bit, have 8Gb memory, and 2 Xeon quadcore 2.33 mhz processors
The last two days I've been unable to open Illustrator CC 17.0.1 on Mac OS 10.9.
I've copied the crash message below.
I've tried to hold command, option + shift on startup to delete the prefs, but it doesn't even get that far. I've also re-booted in safe mode and this allows it to open (but then hangs and crashes)
We are using AD and network smb/cifs home folders and when you create a new document in Illustrator CS6 an error message appears "can't locate startup profiles". try after installin illustrator again". I can look in the folder at ~Library/Application support/Adobe/Adobe Illustrator CS6/en_GB/New Document Profiles , and it is empty. I can replace the folder with a known working one and all is OK. This only happens with network home folders. If I create a local user and launch Illustrator then everything works as expected and there is no error message.
It took me awhile to find the startup file so that I could empty out all of the swatches and stuff. So I finally found the Basic CMYK.ai file. I opened it and made all my edits to it. I saved the file and quit Illustrator. Now when I open Illustrator and create a new CMYK file none of the changes I made to the startup took, as in all my color swatches, brushes and everything like that are still there, but when I go back to the Basic CMYK.ai file it is correct. It is the way I left it.
I illustrate artwork for textbooks and I dont want to have to remove all those unneeded swatches everytime I create a new file. Mac OS 10.8.2
I installed Mavericks and decided to update to Illustrator CC. It downloaded fine and when I went to launch it it opened up to the promo screen showcasing the new features like rounded corners and the segment editing tool etc. When I go to click the "Done" button Ai CC crashes. Nothing I do resolves this. So I ran uninstall and re-installed it and the same exact thing happens every single time.
A few points of fact: - I have NO PLUGINS installed for Ai CC - I do have Ai CS5 installed (Need this to access old art in my archive that is FreeHand format) - I have Ai CS6 installed (Because most of my clients aren't on Ai CC yet) - Photoshop CC works fine - MUSE CC works fine
I uninstalled Ai CC again and the past two days had a MAC IT specialist come in and clean up my entire system to make sure it's in perfect condition before I downloaded and tried to install Ai CC again. My system hasn't been this fine tuned since I installed Mountain Lion, everything is working great.
I tried to install Ai CC again and the exact same thing happened it crashes at the promo screen. When I go and click the "Done" button the beach ball spins and the whole app goes down. Every single time with no exception.
Ai CS6 works fine, no problems at all.
Here is the crash report generated when I last tried to install Ai CC: [URL]
My system information is here too in case you need to know machine specs: [URL]
The inane "Adobe Customer Care" on twitter isn't cutting it with their scripted responses that solve nothing and blame everything on the user.
This is really getting old and I've wasted two days of work time because what should be simple, simply is not.
I just did the latest CC upgrade and my Illustrator keeps crashing. I use Astute graphics, so figured it may have to do with the plug-ins, but after Iremoved them from the plug-ins folder the issue persists.
Dell Precision 390 Intel Core 2 Duo Photoshop CS3 10.0.1, Illustrator CS3 13.0.2 (CS3 Suite) Windows XP 2 GB of RAM Roughly 8 GB free HD space Not sure on video card (how can i check?)
ok, here is my problem:
when i go to File->Open (or Ctrl+O), the Open dialog box opens momentarily (blink an you miss it) and then Photoshop and/or Illustrator freezes. the only way to close it is through Windows Task Manager->End Task.
there is no official error message, Photoshop/Illustrator just simply freezes.
however, and heres the kicker, when i open the files directly from the folder (Explorer) they open fine, i can work seamlessly, no problem. it only occurs when i open from the program itself. i do not know if the other suite programs (Flash, InDesign etc.) have the same problem as i dont use them much.
When I save or save as and EPS, the window that I'm working on, the pallets, and all the toolbars freeze. I am still able to access the Menus at the top, and if I turn some of the pallets on and off, it unfreezes.
I am running Illustrator CS5 on a brand new quad-core MacBook Pro. When I'm working in an Illustrator file, every time I click on a different object the program freezes for a good 5 seconds (which adds up really quickly and is really annoying.) I first noticed this in a large illustrator file with a lot of different elements, but I was testing it out and it still happens when I have a new document with only two circles in it. One of the circles is selected and I click on the other circle and the program freezes.
I have a problem since I upgraded to CS6 for MAC. All the rest of the Design Premium software works fine, but adobe Illustrator seems to have a problem when exiting the app. Always hangs and never closes down so I have to use the Force Quit option of the OS. And it happens ALWAYS.
I just started using Illustrator CS 5.1 on a new laptop running Windows 7. (I have used it for over a year on an older computer running Windows XP with no problem). For the first month or so on Windows 7 it worked ok (saving was somewhat slow) but suddenly it freezes every time I save - sometimes it will eventually save - after 5-7 minutes - yes, I timed it...
My illustrator won't let me save in pdf, it allows me to print in pdf but the option window for saving in pdf doesn't appear and the program freezes, last week it was working fine. I already tried deleting the settings folder and i don't work with multiple monitors so i couldn't have misplaced de window. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it didn't work.
The problem is, under Mountain Lion that path doesn't exist. When I go to my user name, there is no "Library" folder at all. Under "Shared" there is an AI Library folder, but it has nothing of any value in it.
My AI startup document (that I've been using for ages) is found here:
However, if I navigate there and make changes, then quit Illustrator and re-launch it, nothing happens. I'm using the same old defaults as before. I know I need to upgrade to a later version of CS, but the prices have become so outrageous there's no way I can justify it as long as AI and PS are working. You need a mortgage to buy new Adobe products these days.
I have the illustrator instalation from creative cloud subscription and everytime i create a new document and on the profile combo choose "web", the illustrator freezes forever.
Im using mac version in a macbook pro 13" corei7 with 8gigs ram.
Just started a pen tool exercise in illustrator, at some point while using the pen tool I don't know why or how it happens but my screen stops "updating", "refreshing" or "drawing" while I drag it with the hand tool. What I mean is that if I start dragging with the hand, the rulers move as normal, but anything inside just stays a still picture and only when I release the mouse button is the screen changed to where I have dragged. Although the very edges of the artboard/workspace near the rulers behave normaly, I can see bits and pieces flying past there, but it's like there's this big square at the center of my screen that is a still image.
The problem is only inside Illustrator, the rest of my computer and screen behave normally.
I am using Windows XP SP 3, all updates 'n' stuff.
Having issue of illustrator failing to launch. Gets as far as Initialising Fonts 90% then freezes. Reinstalling didn't resolve the problem, also made sure it was updated as much as possible. (CS5 on Mac OS X 10.7.4)
When I go to open my Illustrator application, it starts up, but right away when it is starting up it doesn't respond and it freezes while Illustrator is reading fonts.
My photoshop 5.5 in XP hang at startup using my login. If I use the administrator to login, it can startup normally. My account is also in administrator group. I have tried removing the pref file and ini file but no use.
After Adobe Creative Cloud installed Photoshop CC via the root account, see:
[URL]
The Adobe Photoshop CC 14.1.1 (14.1.1.415) crashes immediately on startup under OS X 10.8.5 unless I am running logged into the root account. This happens when I try to run Adobe Creative Cloud.app as a standard user or as a user with admin privileges.
In other words, the only way I am able to run the Adobe Photoshop CC application is if I take the dangerious option of enablign the root account, logging into it and then directly running the application.
how I can run Adobe Photoshop CC without having to both enable and login to the root account.
I reformatted and reinstalled Windows 7 SP1 yesterday. Reinstalled CS5.5 Master Collection and updated through AAM. I can open Photoshop, but if I open a file, or try to create a new file, it crashes immediately, and this is the error info:
Running Windows 7 64 bit, has been fine up until a few days ago after I had a virus. I have uninstalled, used the photoshop clean up tool and reinstalled, still the same problem. CS4 is working fine but I can't get CS5 to work, it crashes on start up with the following details.

I've just applied the latest update, but am experiencing very slow image loading times between LR 4.1 and CS6 Extended edition. I am using an iMac 27 2.8Ghz with 8Gig of System Ram, over 300Gig of HDD free space.
Upon selecting edit-in CS6 with an image in LR 4.1, CS6 starts up with a long splash screen, loads, then I get a spinning grey circle, then CS6 loads on the desktop, then I get a colored spinning circle, before my image finally appears.
I have performance set to an external scratch disk witih 624G of free space, 5644 MB of memory usage at 74%, HS at 30 CL at 7 CTS at 1028K
I have CS5 still installed and it's load times are about twice as fast as CS 6
Know it's old, but have been using Photoshop CS 8.0 on office Mac Pro and home iMac for years with no problems. OSX is 10.5.8 Leopard. Still works fine on Mac Pro, but has just started crashing at startup on iMac for no apparent reason. Graphic layout comes up and then shuts down. Reinstalled the application with same result.
