I inherited an AI file that I need to work with. The main project is text and I can't (or don't know how) to identify the existing font.
So my question is, is it possible that the file creator made up the font in Illustrator? I tried the find font tool, and also when I try to import the file into photoshop it opens as a flattened image. How would I know if they did in fact create the font?
1) how do i create a download file handler to manage file downloads in a website? to be precise, lets say for instance i need to place file samples for my audience to download, how do i go about it?
2) how do i place a file upload handler in a website?
I have trouble with font in illustrator and pdf. A customer sent me both Ai and Pdf files, the text are totally different.
When I open the illustrator there is one font (Arial Narrow Bold), but when i view the pdf using adobe acrobat the text has changed to another font (Myriad Roman).
The correct font is Arial Narrow Bold. It is very unprofessional to ask customer everytime what font they are using when they already provide me the Ai files.
I want to know what happen when converting to pdf. Are there any setting in pdf I should be aware of ? so I can tell customer next time to avoid this mistake.
I want to make changes to a jpeg. The image is already in my design.The menu offers the option to open the image in a external editor which at this time is Paint.I would like it to be Corel PhotoPaint.
View 9 Replies View Related[I moved this over from the Creative Cloud forum FWIW] I'm a packaging designer and recently have encountered a very problematic glitch.
I have a flat carton layout with an assortment of fonts. I saved the file one day – typical Save – just with PDF Content unchecked since that slows down my workflow. Several days later, I reopened it and all of those fonts were defaulted to Myriad Pro Regular.
Font auto-activation has been a problem in Creative Cloud, but that's not the problem. The fonts are active – they even appear properly in another layout using the many of the same text treatments.
And typically when a font is inactive and text is defaulting to Myriad, the character pallette shows you the intended font between < >
Not in this file. Every defaulted bit of text is indicated to be Myriad Pro Regular. No asterisk, No < >, No nothing.It's as if the font information was lost the last time I saved the file, and the only way to fix it is to manually replace each bit of text with the appropriate font.
Other designers in my group have noticed this happening occasionally as well.
I have been working on a fairly simple website for a few months now using Website Creator X6. Everything was working well every time I tested the site internally. Now all of a sudden, the program is telling me the NOD file is damaged and that it cannot be recovered. I then get a message directing me to read "recover.txt" in the Website Creator directory for "alternative" ways of recovering the data.
The problem is, "recover.txt" doesn't exist.
I have tried importing the internally published pages to recreate the site, but Creator tells me the pages are "too large."
It also appears that Creator stopped creating backups of the NOD file.
How am I to recover this data so I can publish the site online? How could the NOD file have become corrupted in the first place? (I frequently got messages that the file was corrupted when I loaded it, but Website Creator always recovered it.)
I've been sent a logo in a .eps file and I need to edit. However I can't see what font type has been used!

Anytime I use it, it converts to this font and each time I need to change a font weight, I must do it manually. As you can imagine, I use our company font all day so this slows me down quite a bit. Have you heard of this? It seems like some sort of font virus. I've researched removing it, yet can't seem to find the original font file to get rid of, which is even weirder."
We tried moving the font family to the trash, emptying the trash, rebooting the machine, and re-adding the font family and it still is happening.
I have created city/landscape artwork using photoshop line and box tools. If you go to URL... then click on the link that says (click here to view Gotham City) you will see one of the images I am talking about. Can this image be made to look the same in vector.

When converting an IFC file (which is created in All plan) components disappear from the model and some components ( not all ) get a other category assigned (not all floors together etc.). This is what happens in Revit 2013 but in Revit 2011 we did not have this problem.
Are there already improvements/solutions to work better with IFC files?The orange colored walls and the transparant floor ( V3 ) are invoked differently than the others.When I “bind” the IFC file now Revit makes the components disappear.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI made a complex gradient showing all spectral colors in Photoshop. Now I would like to have exactly this gradient in my Illustrator's gradient-palette. Is this possible somehow? At least it is not possible to load the Photoshop-.grd-file into Illustrator.
Of course I know that I can insert the Photoshop-gradient as a picture into any Illustrator document and that is exactly what I intended to do and actually do with it right now. But I also want to use it in conjunction with Illustrators diagram tool, which does not allow to fill the space below a graph with a picture, but which allows to fill this space with Illustrators own gradients. Thus it would be great if there was a way to transfer the Photoshop gradient to Illustrator and not having to start from scratch there again.
Meanwhile I have to copy the graph out of the diagram, putting it on a dedicated layer and there make a clipping mask together with the afore inserted Photoshop-pixel-gradient. This is not very elegant, when you must do this several times...

I have a group of 3D objects using the revolve command (object on the left). Now I want to put the object on it's side. i.e. rotate it by 90 degrees exactly as it is but the 3D revolve is distorting it to look like the object on the right. How do I prevent this?

This is infrequent, some times files work and sometimes they don't, aswell often times when files don't print correctly, the title blog will appear at the end of the page.

Can try to open it and maybe use MAPCLEAN or AUDIT in hope it fixes anything?

I have a graphic that's been created in Photoshop. Is it possible to take that graphic and import to Illustrator so that it can be made into a path, that way I can manipulate it without losing the intergrity of the image.

I have a simple, clean logo with a couple of compound paths (letters like the 'e', 'A'). There are no clipping paths. Everything works great in that file if I save it, re-open and edit it, etc.
If I "Place" or drag this file into a brand new, blank file, and then "Embed" the artwork, it creates 2 clipping masks the size of the artboard. More importantly, it messes up the compound paths so that I have to select them and use the 'Unite' shape mode to get it to function properly. I can see this by trying to add a stroke to the letters.. the stroke is broken until I use the Unite button. Even undoing the compound path and redoing it doesn't work. In the attached image, you can see how a corner is broken , as well as how neither 'inside' nor 'outside' is available for the embedded version.
I am having an issue placing my Ai file, saved multiple ways, in InDesign without losing quality? Maybe save settings or a step-by-step? I work between Ps, Ai, Id often but just started using Ai to create my own graphics.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using CS5 on a PC. I should preface this by saying it's been a long time since I used a vector graphics program, and when I did, it was Macromedia Freehand.
I am creating an object using the pen tool, and I'd like to adjust the curves on either side of an anchor point independently of one another. There was a function to do this in Freehand, but I can't seem to find it's Illustrator equivalent.
I transfer my adjustments from lightroom to photoshop for additional editing. The adjustments show in the new Photoshop file. However, when I make a selection from that file and copy and paste it into a different Ps file, it does not show the adjustments. I even tryed saving the adjusted photoshop file as a jpeg and then opening it up and reselecting what I want.....Copy and paste it.....and the adjustments still don't appear on the different Ps file/photo. How can I keep the adjustments made in lightroom as a selection to copy and paste to a new file?

View 4 Replies View RelatedWe have made a logo with a strapline, we have to make a version with the line in a solid box with the type (which is outlined) transparent, we have done that using pathfinder, but when it's printed the type is coming out much lighter than when it's just white type in a box.
Tried setting it to overprint which made no difference. The vectors are all identical.
